NARS Rotonde High Voltage Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Rotonde High Voltage Blush ($41.00 for 0.45 oz.) is described as a “tiger lily.” It’s a bold, vibrant, medium-dark orange with a matte finish. It’s not NARS Taj Mahal, which is brighter, more golden, and shimmery. Buxom Euphoria is brighter. Illamasqua Expose is more subdued, darker. Make Up For Ever #12 is slightly shimmery and a cream product. NARS Gina is much lighter, softer, and has a satiny sheen.

This is pigmented with a capital P! It’s not a shy color to begin with, and the color payoff is incredibly rich and true-to-pan. There will be no problem with this color showing up on across skin tones. Fairer complexions may want to use a light hand and feathery brush to control how much product they want on (a regular brush will be just fine if you want a bolder cheek color, but a fan or stippling brush is great for getting subtle color without having to buff it out). The gold pattern is an over-spray, and one use will remove the majority of it. Rotonde is soft, finely-milled but not powdery, and it applies beautifully and blends out with ease.  It lasted just over eight hours on me before starting to show subtle signs of fading.

ugh, I desperately wanted these–until you said the gold was an overspray. pretty sure I’m not down for paying $41 for these now. 🙁

I have been looking for a blush like this color for a long time, do you think I could pull this off with a NC15/NC20 skintone? It looks gorgeous on you!

Could you show how your blush pan looks like now that you’ve used it once? I’m curious to see how much of the hold overspray still remains. Does any of the golde overspray get transferred to the cheeks during application?

Is it me or does this NARS blush in Rontonde look like an EXACT dupe for Sleek’s Pan Tao? Both are warm, wearable orange that melt into the skin and give a slightly golden sheen. Thanks!!!

Wow. I finally went to Sephora and tried these two Pierre Hardy blushes. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. My skin color is MAC NC40 to NC 44, depending on time of year. These will work well throughout the seasons. The wear is good, pigmentation is beyond-beyond, and the color payoff is so strong that even on my skin, a smidge can cover and entire cheek. But what really impressed me is the shade. Oranges are particularly difficult for me to find as I have slight red and gray undertones. Most oranges either look chalky or blend into my skin color. But Rotonde makes a statement. It can be a subtle statement if I brush it down or it can be substantial. I am blushaholic and consider Rotonde to be among the best blush finds of all time. Christina – you are much fairer than I but this looks fantastic on you as well.

Someone was asking about the price. There is more product in these than in traditional NARs blushes so the price per ounce is actually less for the Pierre Hardy blushes than standard NARs blushes. Another was asking about the design. The tester I saw no longer had the overspray and I was still drawn to these blushes. Between the quality, color and price – I feel these are an incredible value.
