NARS Rêve Salé Highlighter Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

Rêve Salé
NARS Rêve Salé Highlighter Palette ($49.00 for 0.36 oz.) contains a soft gold, light peach, and light copper housed in a slim palette. All three shades were pigmented and more luminous, though the first shade could be worn as a subtle to moderate highlighter while the other two were fairly metallic. The wear time was between eight and nine hours.
They’re not listed as part of the Dual Intensity formula, though they felt a lot like it (firmer but not stiff, a little dry to the touch but very blendable and don’t appear dry or dusty on the skin), and the description of the formula was similar–use dry for “shimmering veil of second-skin color” or wet for a “high-impact glow.” All three shades were quite shimmery applied dry, and they were metallic when applied with a damp brush. I’d disagree with these being “a shimmering veil” or “second-skin color” in any way dry–all three were mostly opaque to opaque dry, which is where the palette fell “short.”

Rêve Salé I
Rêve Salé I is a soft, light gold with warm, yellow undertones and a luminous sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation applied dry, while dampened application yielded full opacity and a slightly more metallic finish. The texture was smooth and blendable without being powdery in the pan nor did it emphasize my skin’s natural texture. This shade stayed on well for almost nine hours on me.

Rêve Salé II
Rêve Salé II is a soft, light peachy-pink with warm undertones and a metallic finish. My guess is that it will appear a bit pinker on cooler complexions as it warmed up a lot on my warmer skin tone. The powder had a smooth, soft consistency that was dense and “firm” but not stiff to work with, so I had no trouble blending and diffusing the product on my cheeks. It had rich color payoff applied wet and dry with dampened application having a more metallic finish. It stopped just shy of accentuating my skin’s natural texture but did so if applied damp. The highlighter wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably on me.

Rêve Salé III
Rêve Salé III is a light-medium, rosy copper with warm, red undertones and a metallic finish. It had rich pigmentation and a strong shine regardless of dry or wet application, but the wet application definitely made it so it was more pigmented with less product and intensified the finish to have a more textured appearance on my skin. The texture was smooth to the touch but firmer, so there was no excess product kicked up during use, but luckily, it wasn’t stiff, which meant that it remained easy to blend out on my skin. It lasted for eight and a half hours on me before fading.

Very nice, but also very “basic”. Unless one doesn’t already have several of these super common and easy to access types of shades in their stash, many of us probably don’t exactly need this trio.
Hi Christine! Which one do you prefer/would recommend: this NARS palette or MAC’s Flash and Awe?
If you want more shine, Flash & Awe, if you want more color + variety, NARS.
They look too similar from the highlighters in last year’s Bord de Plage palette for me to justify getting this one.
This is another gorgeous blush/highlighter/bronzer set from Nars. I just wish it contained a peachy shade.
