NARS Quai des Brumes Eyeshadow Duo
NARS Quai des Brumes Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Quai des Brumes Eyeshadow Duo ($35.00 for 0.14 oz.) consists of a medium, silvery purple and a matte, dark taupe. The two colors go together well, as the darker matte shade adds contrast but can also be layered over the more shimmery shade to mute and darken it but still let some shimmer peek through.

Quai des Brumes (Left) is amuted, medium, silvery purple with warmer undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had great pigmentation with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that wasn’t too dense or too soft, so it applied to bare skin well and stayed true-to-pan in its intensity. On me, the color wore well for eight hours before fading. MAC Sly Girl (PiP, ) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Dimension (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Lancome Zip Me Up (P, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Rouge Bunny Rouge Delicate Hummingbird (P, $19.00) is warmer (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Winter 2018 #4 (LE, ) is darker, cooler (85% similar). NARS Chile (P, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). Buxom Patent Leather (P, $12.00) is cooler (85% similar). Clinique Lavish Lilac (P, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Urban Decay Silver Burn (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar). bareMinerals Romp (PiP, ) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Cle de Peau Cosmic Aura #3 (PiP, ) is darker (85% similar). MAC Grand Galaxy (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Cle de Peau Champagne Supernova #2 (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Kat Von D Cathedral (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar). Guerlain Rose Barbare #2 (DC, ) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). NARS Jardin Perdu (Right) (DC, $25.00) is darker (80% similar). NARS Flowers 1 #2 (DC, $25.00) is less shimmery, cooler (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Quai des Brumes (Right) is a dark, smoky taupe with neutral-to-cool undertones and a matte finish. There were a few sparkles in the pan, but they did not translate swatched or applied to the lid. The consistency was very soft, almost velvety, with a tendency to sheer out to semi-opaque coverage on the skin, even though it was rather pigmented initially. It wore for six and a half hours before fading, so I would highly recommend using a primer with this one as my lids seemed to eat this one up! MAC First Class (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (95% similar). Make Up For Ever M106 Slate (DC, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). Urban Decay Suspend (LE, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Defy (LE, $19.00) is warmer (95% similar). Ciate Mecha (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). Smashbox Smoke (LE, ) is darker (95% similar). theBalm #15 (P, $6.50) is warmer (95% similar). bareMinerals Exhale (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Wild Horses (LE, $17.00) is warmer (90% similar). Makeup Atelier Natural Chestnut #5 (P, ) is lighter (90% similar). Too Faced Smoked Sea Salt (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tarte Smokeshow (PiP, ) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Kevyn Aucoin Dark Chocolate (LE, ) is warmer (90% similar). Laura Mercier Earth (LE, $23.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Licorice Lane (LE, $17.00) is warmer (85% similar). MAC Gagging for Gifts (LE, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Buxom Jetsetter (P, $12.00) is lighter (85% similar). Smashbox Haze (PiP, ) is lighter (85% similar). Milani Bella Taupe (05) (P, $4.49) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Sugarpill Castle on the Hill (PiP, $13.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). I ordered this as soon as I saw your swatches, not even caring what the score was, but I’m glad to see it performs decently well. These are my favorite colors for eyeshadows, and it arrives tomorrow!

I’m glad this duo performed well — these are the colors I really want! Since I always wear primer, I think the shade on the right will perform adequately for me as a hood/crease color. Although maybe I’d be better off getting Jardin Perdue or Grand Galaxy, since the shade on the left is the one I really love… decisions, decisions! The longer I obsess, the happier my wallet is 😉

Color me underwhelmed. I have a Nars duo in Underworld, and it swatches just like your description on both shadows. I don’t much care for the one I have (B-/C+) so this is one holds no allure.

Glad to see the good review as this was the duo that caught my eye – ha ha. But I do have RBR Delicate Hummingbird and cool, deep taupes, so do I really need it?

These are my kind of taupey-purpley eyeshadows! I have super similar looking shades of the silvery-purple shade, but all of mine run way lighter,ie; Nyx Beanie, Nars Calisto, MAC Fall In Lust. Thinking I may have to get this beauty! ?

I definitely need this one, too! I’m beyond elated to see NARS go back to the more “traditional” eyeshadow duos, and the shade choices of both are stunning.

My Indes Galantes arrived today and it wears really nicely. My burgundy shades applied better than Christine’s swatches. Not sure if it was a batch variation or because I’m so much fairer in tone that it has a big impact. From a super fair gal – I recommend it.

You’d need a more adhesive base, and then it might transfer some 🙂 I find that a lot of these sparkle-over-matte eyeshadows don’t transfer, as the sparkle seems to get lost somewhere between pan-brush-eye.

I love this!!!! Unique and beautiful smokey shades and a pretty decent grade. I wish both duos scored this well but at least I can justify getting one of them.

I really like this color combo and am definitely thinking of getting it. I’ve never used Nars eyeshadows before, though, the price is steep! (I like their lipsticks, but those are the Nars products I’ve used.)

The purple shimmer shade is very pretty, but the matte black is a tad average and there are lots of matte blacks in nearly every palette owned. So this little duo is a bit redundant.

Aaah so glad this one is better quality that the other duo! I want this. Yes it’s rather dupable but there’s something about the smoky colors of this duo that I find really appealing. It’s moody and dark, I love the vibe for fall/winter!

Going to dupe this. I have dupes for the right one, the matte, and I love the look of MAC Grand Galaxy so I’ll just have to buy it. That said, this duo is really, really pretty. Had it been an A+ I might have bought it. I do feel I need to limit what goes on the wishlist, and even more what actually makes it through my front door as there are so many fun products coming, and ther’ll soon be spring LE’s to think about.
And I want to buy a house 🙂
