NARS Orgasm Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium pink base with warmer undertones and fine, gold pearl with a few larger, gold sparkles. It’s a new, permanent shade that’s part of the Satin Lipstick formula, which is described as a “lustrous, long-wearing lipstick infused with conditioners to provide comfortable wear and sumptuously, silky color.” In particular, this shade was described as “sheer provocation” and as a “pink color with a translucent touch” — seemed like code for sheer.
I found the formula to be thin, emollient but not slippery–it applied without tugging on my lips but did not slide around on my lips, though there was a smidgen of color that gathered in my deeper lip lines on my bottom lip. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was buildable to medium coverage. The lipstick lasted for three hours on my lips and seemed very lightly hydrating. There was no discernible taste or smell.

Pretty! Too bad it’s sheer, and highly dupe-able.
I thought it was going to be easier to dupe, but the sheerness actually made it harder.
Sandy B was my absolute go to shade during high school! I get why NARS’ orgasm is so popular but it’s so overdone at this point!

How do you find this shade compares to your beloved Guerlain Gems?

Hey Christine, could you recommend a lip liner to use with this? I just ordered it and would like to try to make it last more than a few hours. And maybe add some depth to the shade.

It’s a nice enough shade, but I’m definitely already covered with EL Naked Truth and also, MAC Marque, for this type of shimmery nude shade.
It would have been an intelligent move on Nars part to have issued this lipstick out much sooner than this, though .

Good to know it’s permanent! In no hurry BC I already have MAC marque (which I am slightly allergic too but can wear so long as I apply something underneath) and want to try out EL naked truth (very allergic to the normal EL pure envy formula so hopefully the lustre formula works out). Will definitely haul nars orgasm sooner or later BC nars lipsticks don’t give me trouble.
Definitely try to compare ingredients of the two ELs – I imagine the base would be similar!

I like the look of it, to be honest, a very pretty pink with the little twist that comes with the gold.
I think it’ll look very good in the summer and also with a smokey eye. OK, I’ve talked myself into this now. Going to buy it.

Finally, a lipstick that admits to being sheer! Wow, the gold shimmer finish is pretty, but think it’s a bit too sheer for me –since my lips don’t have tons of pigment, I think this will make me look too washed out, will need to swatch in store
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this review, positive the grade would be better. I very rarely wear sheer lipstick so now I’m not sure. I’ll swatch it when I’m in Sephora and will decide then.
I must be the only person in the world that the warm pink of Nars Orgasm looks garishly orange & horrid on.
I wonder if this would work on me because it is so sheer?

Do you think, if you used the Orgasm multiple stick on your lips, it would probably look the same?
While I like Orgasm on my cheeks, I think it’s not a good lip color for my coloring.
This is a really pretty everyday colour. It weirdly reminds me of Cute-ster from MAC’s Hello Kitty collection (NARS is lighter and with golder shimmer, but similar vibe I think) ages ago. I wore that everyday when it came out!
I was so excited when I saw this was coming out, but now I am very disappointed to see how sheer it is. I was hoping for a more pigmented version for sure. If you want sheer, then why not just stick with the lipgloss….
