NARS Night Breed Nail Lacquer

NARS Night Breed Nail Lacquer ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described simply as “black with silver glitter.” It’s a deep black with silver shimmer and sparkle that’s opaque in two coats (but one coat packs quite a punch of pigmentation). I don’t have anything quite like this. I think the closest shade I could think of was China Glaze Tinsel Town, but it has a lot more silver glitter and shimmer, so it looks more silver than it does black. China Glaze Stone Cold has more uniform and smaller-sized shimmer, plus it has a matte finish.

NARS nailed the formula of their Night Series shades–the color coverage is fantastic, the shades are nuanced, and they even dry faster than most polishes. It does dry down to a flatter finish, so a shiny top coat is a must if you prefer a glossy finish. The wear of NARS polishes is remarkably good–minor tip wear and no chipping after seven days.  The application was easy and required no special effort; Night Breed had a good consistency–not too thick or too thin–that yielded even color without streaking.

I had just ordered this from drugstore.com this morning! Check your e-mail if you are on their mailing list. There is an offer for a free Erin Fetherson train case filled with samples with $100 purchase and 10 percent rebate from mrrebates.com. I clicked on the link for the train case first, then the link from mrrebates to get the rebate as well. The other items I bought were some of The New Black nail sets. Anyone try those before?

What a fabulous colour. I see you have given it full marks for everything, the wear is very impressive. Yet another item for my shopping list 🙂 Jude x @jadlgw

I looooooooooooove it. It looks gorgeous on your nails, like I’m gazing into the universe with all of the ultra bright stars and the inky blackness of space. I dig it!

It’s a lovely color, but I settled for Sonia Kashuk’s Starry Night. Not quite as vivid as Night Breed, but way easier on the pocket book than the Nars!

Gorgeous! I think there may be an ORLY color that is relatively similar. I can’t remember the name now, but I’ll find out.

pretty! another good dupe is opi’s metallic 4 life from the nicky manaj collection but it has larger and more silver glitter than this.

Do you have any idea how long this will stay out? I love it, but I can’t really afford to drop $17 on a nail polish right now, so I’d like to wait for as long as possible before buying it, haha.

Reminds me of OPI’s Metallic 4 Life from their Nicki Minaj collection. Only differences are that OPI’s has chunkier glitter pieces, and the glitter is more saturated throughout.
