NARS Misfit Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Misfit Eyeshadow Duo ($33.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “shimmering ecru” and “rich emerald green.” The lighter shade is a pale yellow beige with a mostly matte finish, but it has a really soft, silky texture with a buttery, dense feel. It’s similar in color to Make Up For Ever #102 with better color payoff. The darker shade is a greenish-teal; it’s a little tealer/bluer than emerald green, but it’s very close. It has more of a matte color base with pale gold shimmer-sparkle on top. It’s the closest shade I have to Jealousy Wakes, which is greener; I think if you wanted more of a teal and found Jealousy Wakes too green on you, then Misfit would be more up your alley. It reminded me more of MAC Surf USA, which is a touch more teal. It’s soft, smooth, and very pigmented.

Both shades have excellent color payoff, and the two pair well with each other. There’s a good amount of contrast, so you can take it from light to dark and everything in-between. Plus, with the yellow in the beige, you can pull this shade to look greener when they’re used together. The wear of this duo was nice, too; normally, when I wear these without a base, it doesn’t quite last for a full eight hours, but Misfit wore for nine without fading or creasing, though the green shade did stain somewhat, so I took off half of point from application (which does include removal!).

I’d be so curious to see how you’d wear this and what it’d look like! 🙂
I’m so pleased with NARS and it seems like the quality of their products are getting so much better over the years.

beautiful green! christine, speaking of jealousy wakes, can you give us some more looks or idease on how to use this color? I haven’t quite figured out how to use it much except with a light/sky/pale blue on the lid and jealousy wakes in the crease.. what else would work?

the green side, does the gold and green separate like Strada did? That is to say, own NARS Strada single (medium lavender purple with gold shimmer) and i noticed on certain primers such as Pixie Epoxy, it actually would separate the base color from the shimmer such that it’s like purple with a ring of gold around the edge. really odd. your swatch of the green side looks even, but as i can see the separate gold shimmer really well, it makes me feel like it might do the same as Strada did…

gorgeous looking duo tho (though i can’t normally pull off greens)

What a stunning teal green! I’m really not much of a green girl, but that finish is gorgeous – I love the way the gold shimmer seems almost to sit on top of the matte pigments. It’s a very “Christine” kind of shade! 😉

One of the first Nars duos I ever owned. Oldie but goodie, and that beige makes a nice highlight for more yellow toned skin. I’m much tanner than that, but it looks nice since it sheers out easily on me. That green, though. That green is the BOMB. I haven’t worn it in forever. You just reminded me that I should crack that compact open soon!

This is one of my favourite duos, the greenish teal shade is so unique and beautiful! My one qualm is that the teal DOES stain, so I prefer to use it at night when I won’t be changing eye makeup later.

I LOVE how bright that green is. It is just gorgeous… but I have no idea how to wear it… Can you show a completed look with this duo? Pretty please!

I love this duo! My only beef with it is that the lighter side is kind of chalky, but the teal makes it worth it. Did you not have any problems with the ecru?

MORENA Avatar

Ohh i am interested in this one and Rated R. Sephora emailed me a $15 gift card (i have to spend 50 in over to use it tho) so i might be getting this.

Lumi Avatar

I heard that you don’t actually have to spend $5O to use the gift card. ^^

People have ordered at least $15.00 in products and they were able to use the gc.

Nars started naming its products after classic American movies. “Misfits”- Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, I believe. Although this is Misfit. Nice combo….but Jealousy Wakes is in a class all by itself and I dont think this is dupe.

This reminds me of the look I wore today! Shiro Cosmetics [Subject Name Here] and Mac’s Aquadisiac. [Subject Name Here] is fairly similar in colour, but much more shimmery and Aquadisiac is much lighter.

That green is amazing! Is this part of their regular line? They don’t sell NARS in The Netherlands, but I’m going to England in January, so maybe I could buy it then.

Marta Avatar

I would love it of you could ever do a look for us with these eyeshadows (if you ever get a chance). I really like this duo and would buy it if I only knew how to wear it on daily bases.

Hi Christine,

I know you are now doing individual swatches for the swatch gallery but could you PLEASE still include a photo of colors swatched together for duos and quads? I appreciate the closeups of each color alone to get a good look at the color and texture. However, I greatly miss the photo of the colors together as it gives a much better idea of how the colors interact together. I have seen others request this as well. I know you recommended looking at the swatches next to each other in the gallery. Having done that, I just do not believe it is the same. Even in this post, you can see how your skin photographed in completely different shades. Thus, the two colors are not being photographed the same; it does not give an accurate depiction of how the two colors work together.

Sorry this comment is so lengthy… Just goes to show how important I think this is! 😉
