NARS Maldives The Multiple Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS Maldives The Multiple
NARS Maldives The Multiple

NARS Maldives The Multiple ($39.00 for 0.50 oz.) is described as a “shimmering pink champagne.” It’s a soft, muted pink-shimmered beige with a luminous finish. On the skin, it’s like a veil of lightly warmed-over champagne sheen. MAC Sparkling Rose (LE) is lighter. MAC Talk of the Town (LE, $25.00) is a powder but similar in color. Urban Decay Glint (LE) is very comparable. Tom Ford Beauty Blush Guilt (LE, $58.00) is somewhat warmer. bareMinerals The Love Affair (LE, $26.00) is more frosted. Bobbi Brown Rose Gold (LE, $42.00) is also more frosted, powder. See comparison swatches.

NARS describes the formula as a “multi-purpose stick for eyes, cheeks, lips and body” that gives “sheer color” that can be blended for “shimmering accents; contours or dynamic highlights.” The suggested application method is with fingers, as the heat will warm up the product and enable it to be more easily blended. NARS’ The Multiples and I have an interesting relationship, because while I like them (at least, some of the time) on cheeks and eyes, I don’t like them on lips (uneven application, tends to drag and pull during application, and drying), so they’re always a disappointment in one of the three areas it’s designed to be used. Maldives didn’t work well on lips, but it did work excellently on cheeks, eyes, and decolletage. The finish is incredibly flattering–glowy, luminous, dewy but not oily or pore-emphasizing–and the wear is about seven and a half hours on cheeks and brow bone (on the lid, it creases within five hours).  It applies and blends beautifully on the cheeks as a highlighter.

I’ve been contemplating this one for a while, but to use as a blush. How do you think it would work out om fairer skin (for reference, I fall somewhere between NARS Siberia & Deauville)?

This is another one that’s difficult to track down at a counter, so I’ve never actually seen ot in person.

Thanks! I may just hold out on this (for now, LOL!), and go for Riviera or Orgasm, since those are both easily available, and I have 2 Multiples I use as highlighters (Luxor & Copacabana). It’s still a beautiful color, and now I’m thinking it may play nicely with UD Naked 3…

Amy: Just thought I would add that I used to use this product years ago to make me look like I had a bit of sun. It’s one of those shades while not dark and typical tan like, actually gives a bit of that tanned glow look to the skin.

Thanks, Wendy! What caught my attention was the shade description on the NARS site, and when searching for swatches/reviews, it seemed the majority described it as “bronzey”, which is nice, but I’m looking for something a bit “pinky”.

I just bought my first multiple over the Summer, and jow I’m up to 4, LOL! I think I’ll just wait until Spring 2014 collection, as rumor has it there will be a few NEW ones…

How do you apply on cheeks over foundation, Christine? Iffy to apply directly from the tube onto the cheeks. Not exactly hygienic. If you use a brush then apply more product, still not hygienic what with your brush picking up some of the foundation off your face.

Hi there! First of all I must compliment how AMAZING your blog is. You have soooo many beauty-related products, especially pictures and review that you fulfil everything I need. Thank you for a well-written blog with an outstanding layout.

This is quite non-related to the post above, I’m afraid, but I have a question about Voluspa-candles. I’ve researching a lot in order to find somewhere to buy these popular scents. Here in Sweden it costs from 40-70 dollars each, which is quite pricey. Do you know any good site where I can buy Voluspa candles with a decent shipping price? Thank you very much!

I have two multiples but use both just for cheeks, contours and skin.
My two colors are Orgasm and G-Spot. I have fair complexion in a cool tond with some rosacea.

I’m looking for a great cream highlighter- would this be your first choice? I’ve been in the market for one forever but there are so many options!

Pretty shade, I have only tried an ELF multiple, and the highlight had a bit of chunkiness to it and very little colour, and it was too frosty on the lips.
So, don’t use it much but sometimes I’ll just rub some on for a luminous finish just to not waste the product.
I have the BareMinerals ‘Brightening Gold’ Mineral Veil which, while pretty, too has a bit of chunky glitter in between the sheen, it shows only in sunlight but is nice otherwise.

I can’t see myself using this for my eyes, lips and cheeks at the same time. It seems unhygienic.. although I’m curious to see how it looks like on the lips! But I think this product works best used as a blush/highlighter 🙂
