NARS Look: Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo

NARS Look:  Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo

I actually really LOVED how everything came together.  I loved how the eyeshadows looked layered over the bright teal base.  I also loved the way the glitter flecks in Palladium came through in a very subtle way.  Everything was fabulous until about fifteen minutes later when I noticed that the base was not holding up.  There was noticeable smearing/melting.  I’ll have to try Palladium again over an eyeshadow base, but in the past, the Soft Touch pencils haven’t creased on me so long as they’ve been set with powder… not the case here, though.

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: NARS Palladium Soft Touch Pencil (teal), NARS Mangrove Eyeshadow (mustard-chartreuse), NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow (golden taupe/dark green-blue), Burberry Trench Eyeshadow (highlighter), CoverGirl Green Glow LiquilineBlast (bright chartreuse green), Lancome Precious Cells Mascara (black)
  • Face: NARS Sheer Matte Foundation (Punjab), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (translucent)
  • Cheeks: Korres #15 Natural Blush (soft brown)
  • Lips: MAC Smash Hit Dazzle Lipstick (sheer glittery white-gold), Burberry Cameo Lip Gloss (muted melon-pink)
  • Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Smash Hit = Tanarama

For eyes, start by applying Palladium as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Mangrove eyeshadow on the inner third of the lid and pull upwards along the inner crease. Lightly blend Rajasthan (taupe) eyeshadow on the middle of the lid blended to the outer lid with the 239. Next, apply Rajasthan (dark blue) eyeshadow into the crease with the 226, lightly blending onto the outer lid. Blend Trench eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Green Glow eyeliner on the lower lash line. Finish by sweeping lashes with Precious Cells mascara.

For cheeks, apply #15 blush on the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Smash Hit lipstick first, and then layer Cameo lip gloss for a complementing lip.

Wow that foundation looks absolutely fabulous on you, your skin looks totally flawless! Too bad the pencil didn’t hold up as a base though, otherwise you look amazing =)

love this! mangrove is a lot more green than I thought from the Nars promotion pictures. I thought it would be more like gorgeous gold. is it somewhere between that and sweet and punchy?

baby in a corner Avatar

ah yeah, good point! d’oh! is it like gorgeous gold then would you say? I like layering Gorgeous Gold over other colours. over UD shattered you get this really reflective blue that flashes gold and green!

Roxanne Avatar

Oh my god! This is just… oh my god! You weren’t kidding when you said this was a rockin’ look! Love it! Seems like you’re testing a lot of new products too!

Samantha Avatar

Hey Christine, the lip color looks like a gorgeous nude for darker skintones! Do you know of any similar colors but are lipsticks instead of glosses? Thanks!

OMG that mascara is AMAZING!!  Your eyes look so BAM in the second picture =)

The new NARS duo really seems to glow!  <3

Just gorgeous! I saw the Rajasthan duo at Nordstrom but I passed it over. I may need to go back now 🙂 Christine, how do you think it compares with other dark teal shades like Nars Thunderball?

Lady Di. Avatar

Oh wow, this is probably one of my favorite looks you’ve done so far! Your eyes really stand out with this green and the lip color compliments it perfectly! Love it!

Oh my… I am diggin’ this one Christine! And Trench is gorgeous as the highlight! I’m DEFINITELY checking into it next time I’m at Nordstrom. I’m thinkin’ it’s a must-have for me… Thanks so much for the Grain comparison. Grain IS a bit too pink on me!

This is CRAZY cute, Christine! I don’t have a chartreuse shadow, but aside from that — I definitely want to try out this look 😀 Of course, I’d have to make a lot of alterations for my monolids, but if it turns out even half this awesome… it’ll be very much worth it.

Christine, this is by far one of my favorite looks you’ve ever done…you look stunning! 🙂 Will you be doing a review of that Lancome mascara? It looks great on you, beautiful length (I’m partial to Lancome mascaras so I’d love to hear your thoughts on this particular one.)

I think im gonna go buy that Nars Duo this weekend. You know what would be nice to see when you post these looks ? It would be cool if you could post a picture of the stuff that you used all together that way we can see how the items look like. I saw a blog that did that and it was great because we could see how they look like. For example, i wanted to see how the Nars Palladium pencil looked like. I know i can click on the link but it would be nice to see everything at once. 🙂

I love the pop of bright color you put in there. This shadow duo is amazing – so dynamic in color. Paired with that lip, it looks as though this eyeshadow/overall look was meant just for you!

Mel Avatar

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE do a video tutorial on this. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! 🙂

BTW, i love reading your website. You do a great job! 🙂

Mel Avatar

Sad times about the video. But thanks for putting together such a great site! 🙂

How did you find the Palladium in the end? Get it to work well for you?

Sass Avatar

I like this look. That Burberry Trench as a highlight looks so much better than using MAC Ricepaper. It’s not too bright, it’s just right. Good look!

SeforaMac Avatar

WOW you look gorgeous!!! Love the way you blended the colors.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee do a video tutorial if you already haven’t.
Thanks!!

Christine, did you pick up the other e/s duo? I think it’s called tzarine and I was planning to pick that one up at first. It looked like a pink and grey duo. Would love to hear your feedback if you have that one as well.

PS: loving this e/s so far. Maybe I’d need to buy both duos in this collection. 🙂

I’m seriously in awe! This is the most beautiful look you’ve done in ages!!! Not that all your looks aren’t lovely, but this is just AMAZING!!! Love it, love it, love it!!! Okay, I think I’ve just used up my monthly quota of exclamation points.

Hannah Avatar

What a gorgeous look! Maybe next time you’ll have to lay down a primer before you use that pencil as a base… so disappointing that this one didn’t hold up for you!

Ashley Avatar

This is my favourite look from you! Also I’m loving the mascara your wearing, it looks like it’s really good at separation/defining. Do you know if Lancome released a waterproof version of this mascara yet?

Chrissie Avatar

wow I have to say that this is my fave eye look that you’ve done thus far christine – its creative and the colour combo is so fresh – love it!

p.s. in your description, i noticed that it says goldmine eyeshadow…did you mean mangrove?

Lisa Avatar

Hey christine! Looking stunning as usual! The green looks awesome on you!! I noticed your wearing nars sheer matte, How are you likeing it??? We are the same shade because I am punjab in the sheer glow, i hate that it kinda photographs not well on my camera, leaving me with a slight white cast due to flash. How do u get your face and body to match in pictures!!?? Also I was wanted to ask you how does the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder preform? because im currently using the mac prep and prime to set my make up, maybe that explaines why theres a white cast when using flash photography. Because it seems like the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder photographs well on.

I noticed you used a variety of products here and not your traditional regulars like Makeup forever HD and you used burberry trench as the high lighter eye shadow. Love it! The Nars sheer matter looks gurgus on you! And lancome definicils is my absolute favorite mascara. I decided to give the Nars eyeshadow a second look and I purchased. Gorg!

Dini Avatar

This is so so so pretty – I’m really sad I didn’t buy Rajasthan when I was in the US last weekend! No Nars in Malaysia so that means I wont be getting it 🙁

hiromi Avatar

this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, christine. will you be reviewing the burberry lipgloss? because judging from these photos, i think i’ve just fallen in love.

Lizz M. Avatar

I’m loving this look, the colors really suit you, as well as each other! This is a perfect example of wearable makeup with fun color.

And i’m totally in a Nars phase right now so that Rajasthan duo and the Strawberry fields gloss will be mine!

Lizz M. Avatar

Right now, I’m loving both Striptease and Supervixen glosses. Damned velvet matte lipcolor (like a giant pencil, love lip products like that) and the Eurydice Duo (a charcoal color/this gorgeous eggplant with blue duochrome)

Those are my favorites from Nars right now. Hmm, i’d love to try more of thier face makeup. What i’ve been wanting is to pick up a couple of the multiples and blushes, particularly Oasis. Ha, need to start saving up.

Millie Avatar

Gorgeous! Love the eye shadow colors together! You truly are an artist who knows what colors go great together. How do like the NARS sheer matte foundation? I’m thinking of trying the sheer glow though. Any reason why you chose the sheer matte over the sheer glow?
