NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo Review, Photos, Swatches (Fall 2010)

NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo

Prettiest NARS Eyeshadow Duo? Perhaps!

NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a stunning mix of golden taupe brown and smoky peacock blue. I’m not always a huge fan of NARS eyeshadows, to be honest–I’ve had a lot of misses, particularly with their singles in the past few seasonal collections–but Rajasthan blew me away. It is such a gorgeous duo that’s wearable and so perfect for fall. I love that it’s not a smoky plum but a charcoal black smoked out base with layers of metallic and navy blue all woven together. It may look a little on the cooler side, but warmer beauties will have no problem turning this into something lovely on the eyes.

The pigmentation is spot-on–it looks just like it does in the pan–while the texture is exactly what you’d expect from NARS: smooth and buttery. NARS’ eyeshadow duos are always a better value than their eyeshadow singles–you get twice as much for only $9 more.

Idd it is gorgeus! I know it may be too soon for this but, Christine, do you plan on doing a review for the other eyeshadow duo on the fall connection?

What a beautie! love taupes but would never thought of pairing them with dark blues! may try this with what’s already in my stash!

Can you do a look with this? Would love to see how the blue distributes in the crease and looks with your eye color (which is close to mine!!)

Hey Christine! How similar are these shadows to the colors in the UD Naked palette? I’ve ordered the palette, but these colors look lovely! Are they similar enough to skip out on this duo?

Well, im totally getting this ๐Ÿ˜› I’ve been looking for a NARS duo, but didnt any with that suited me. But this is perfect! A very light an a very dark color and great payoff. Just what I was looking for ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the great review, Christine. I really like the taupey color, but the blue is not for me. Can you think of a dupe for the brown? Thanks in advance!

Well, I haven’t been excited about Nars in a long time, but this post was inspirational! Some additional Googling led to Phyllis’ FOTD at MakeupForLife, and I fell further in love.

I ended up ordering this and a few other new products this morning. I even used the code “TEMPTALIA” for the free lip gloss trio–thanks so much, Christine! (I also managed to track down a coupon code for 18% off all purchases of $60 or more: 071510CP2.)

So glad I just ordered this! What other shades do you suggest pairing with it? I didn’t order anything else from this collection.(Strawberry Fields isn’t my kind of shade.)

Wow, I totally love this duo! I can really see a beautiful smokey look using nothing else but these 2 shades.
However, I’ve been so disappointed by Nars shadows in the past (pigmentation/application issues) that I’m a little worried to spend over 30$ on this…
Is it available in stores now? Maybe I should see it in person.

Oh Christine, yes this is the most prettiest NARS eyeshadow, very nice combination of colors and cool name… Nars has good inspiration, as always ๐Ÿ™‚

Do these colours look anything look the ud naked palette? Trying to decide if to get the 2 duos from fall collection or the palette.

This duo is gorgeous but it looks like 2 of the colors from the 9947 palette I have so I wont be picking it up but if I didnt have that palette I would definately have to have it!!

oooooohh la la…
i love this shadow more for its name…..it is named after Rajasthan, the most cOlorful place in INDIA…..i love it….INDIA rocks

Teal with gold has always been one of my favorite summer looks. Rajasthan looks like it would be a deeper, more subdued transition into fall. I’ll definitely be giving this one a try.

Looooooooooooooove this shadow duo. I try so hard to love NARS shadows, but usually end up hating them! I saw a look done with this duo and it was magical. Can’t wait to pick this up! Thanks for the swatches!!!

Christine, do you know how this blue differs from Underworld? I’ve got the latter and don’t want to dupe. There seems to be more teal? It looks like a nice cool tone, and it looks captivating on you.

Thanks!

Well, Christine, I just ordered it from NARS with O blush for DD (trying to be good mom here!) and used your code. So I’ve got my reward for Monday morning.

Are there any shades in the UD Naked palette that are similar to these shades ?? I’m trying to decide if I need this duo or not, since the colors are so pretty lol.

i have to get this …. i am from RAJASTHAN (jaipur)… so would be bad on my part and wont be justice if i dont buy it …
thanks christine for the review…

What can these two colours be compared to? I’m scared that it’s too similar to woodwinked maybe tempting too splurge on it. And what is a similar mac dupe to the dark side of the duo? Thanx:)

Woodwinked pulls a lot redder and golden-toned – not so much a taupe. Deep Blue Green would be the closest, though it’s very shimmery and isn’t quite the same.

Christine, is the golden taupe half similar to MAC’s Honeylust (which is similar to All That Glitters)? I think the blue is gorgeous, but I have a lot of neutrals already and don’t want to have repeat colors.

Thanks!

I actually belong from Rajasthan. Rajasthan is a state in India.

The duo makes so much sense with the name cuz’ Rajasthan state has desert which explains the taupe golden and the state also has lots of peacocks so the peacock green makes sense.

That’s lovely, it makes me want this duo even more! I love India! I plan to go to Rajasthan hopefully next year. I’m from Maui,Hawaii.

hi christine….
u are most welcome in our country INDIA….do plan a visit to rajasthan, agra(for tajmahal) and delhi ofcourse…..wud love to have u as our guest……

I’m loving this duo so much that I just purchased it online along with taj mahal, which I’ve been wanting for the longest time. I’m so excited I can’t wait to get my pkg in the mail. I used your code for the mini glosses so I definitely feel like this purchase is worth it. Thanks Christine!

Hi Christine ๐Ÿ˜€

This is soooo lovely Im trying not to find similar items in my stash so would MAC Woodwinked E/S and Deep Blue Green Pigment be a dupe or is this different enough to pick up.

Thanks

Woodwinked is wayyy too red. Maybe Patina at best. Deep Blue Green flashes greener and has a ton more shimmer, but it’s similar.

Grrr.. Thanks Christine!! I hate NARS shadows and I have been safe from your NARS enabling, but not with this! I should have stayed away from Temptalia today!!!

Yaaaay its beautiful! This is the one thing 4 sure i want frm the collection…and like u im not even a big fan of their e/s but this is a must!

Hi Christine,

I’m from a small european country and I’m having much trouble finding NARS products, so I wanted to ask you, does MAC have any dupes for these two lovely shades?

I just recently bought this and I don’t know if it’s just mine but are the shadows a little sheer? And the tan color has a lot of fallout. And I really wanted to love this ):

I have the same issue with mine. I’m wondering if it’s a bad batch. Definitely not the usual NARS eyeshadow quality, I really have to pack on the tan side in multiple layers to get anything to show up.

just purchased this online from bloomingdales, it said it was instock but then in the checkout it said “We need to confirm the availability of this item. When in stock, this item usually ships within 5 business days. If it’s not available, we’ll let you know. ” is that just a disclaimer or does that mean its on backorder? thank you so much if you know but also for this review! the colors are so gorgeous i saw these swatches and fell in love! i am a young makeup addict and i think this would be so gorgeous and a great staple item! thank you so much i love your website!

it came! it shipped really quickly and everything! i used it yesterday and it is so gorgeous! i put the taupe color over my busy signal benefit cream shadow with the deeper charcoal teal color in my crease and outer v and it looked great! its almost like smokey neutral look! its so everyday

I love this duo. This was my first purchase from this company. I am interested in buying some more products but not sure what else to get. I also have coconut groove. What else do you suggest?

Hi Christine! I missed out on Rajasthan duo, do you have any suggestions for dupes ? Your last review of Jealous Jordana from the Balm looked similar to the peacock dark side but I’m not sure where to find the golden taupe color. Btw I love your blog ! and I like also that its getting update so often ๐Ÿ™‚ Gives me something to look forward at the end of the day

I just got this duo a few weeks and although I love the colours, I’m not impressed with the formula. Perhaps I Just got a bad batch because it’s so much more pigmented and vibrant in your swatches (could this be because of my skin tone?) I even tried swatching it on my hand with my eyeshadow base and after half a dozen layers of each, they only slightly showed up. What a shame.

I also have a question for you. Do you know if certain eyeshadow bases react differently with different eyeshadows? My base (by POP Beauty) seems to love Make Up For Ever and MAC shadows but it just doesn’t hold onto Nars. (Rajasthan is my only Nars eyeshadow so I can’t speak for all of them). It’s a peachy-gold liquid base with gold shimmer so perhaps due to all the colour in the base, it overpowers the colours in Rajasthan? Or perhaps Nars just doesn’t mix well with liquids? I notice that you use the Nars eyeshadow base and I really want to get it but I might wait until I’m done my current bottle. Unless you have experience with this and can attest to Nar’s base and its efficacy with its own shadows…I’ll probably get it right away. I really want to wear Rajasthan more often but at the rate I’m using it now, I’m just denting the pan and not getting any of the pay-off.

Sorry for all the questions! It’s just that my questions are so specific that I didn’t get what I was looking for on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

That can sometimes be the case, though with the NARS base, I haven’t really run into problems myself ๐Ÿ™‚ I wasn’t over the moon with UDPP in general and for awhile, favored color bases because so many bases seemed to mute rather than accent colors!

I have the same problem! I spent $40+ on this duo and all I’m doing is denting the pan and I can’t seem to get the same pigmentation as Christine got here… Is there a way to contact NARS regarding this?
