NARS La Paz & Peloponesse Pure Matte Lipsticks Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS La Paz Pure Matte Lipstick
NARS La Paz Pure Matte Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as an “orchid.” It’s a subdued, purpled berry with silver sparkle. It’s mostly opaque applied to the lips, and the consistency felt slightly drier than other Pure Matte lipsticks. I could feel a very slight grit from the sparkle when I was applying it, but I couldn’t feel it when I pressed my lips together. It lasted six hours well, but it was slightly drying after four hours of wear. NARS Never Say Never is lighter, less shimmery. MAC Yung Rapunxel is much darker. MAC Strong Woman is purpler. MAC Dish It Up is pinker, lighter. See comparison swatches.
Peloponnese Pure Matte Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “ginger pink.” It’s a muted, peachy-brown with gold sparkle and a frosted finish. Like La Paz, I could feel the sparkle in the tube when I applied it to my lips, but I couldn’t feel it if I pressed my lips together. It also had a slightly drier consistency compared to other shades in the range. This shade appeared more frosted on the lips than the other one did, but it also had opaque color coverage. It lasted five and a half hours well, and it slightly drying as well. shu uemura OB Dream Orange is less frosted, lighter. NARS Casablanca is darker, less frosted. MAC Freckletone is sheerer, less sparkly. Guerlain Gracieuse is pinker. See comparison swatches.

Peloponnese looks surprisingly good on you. A unique color/finish and I really like it!
La Paz is such a beautiful color! Too bad the sparkles spoil the show! 🙁
Don’t like the finish of these at all!
I was surprised they didn’t mention it in the descriptions for these!
The La Paz had me at matte and then lost me at silver shimmer. LOL.
I love MAC Odyssey and am looking for a satin or matte equivalent. An orchid color would also work. But silver shimmer in a matte formula? That’s a new one.
I like La Paz. The other one reminds me of the 90s, which could be good or bad depending on your taste!
This is off topic, but I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much I appreciate how much work you put into this blog/web site. I can drop by here every day and see a new review, with swatches and pictures of the product on actual lips/eyes/nails/etc.What a treasure your site is! Thanks for all your hard work.
Thank you so much, Sassa! Hope you’re having a nice weekend!
Looks look really nice on you! I wish I could pull off colours like this, I would probably look dead if I tried to wear these shades. 🙂
Thanks a lot, Alicia 🙂
I bet you’d look lovely!
Both these shades look great on you, compliments well.
Thanks, Celine!
Oh wow, I really like the La Paz colour and thinks it’s different being matte with that hint of glitter but darnit it’s NARS and will wreck my lips 🙁
It was a total surprise to find the sparkle/glitter – I thought it was weird that they didn’t include that in the descriptions for these!
Eh, I’m not in love with these, which is unfortunate because I’m a matte lips junkie. These aren’t really what I think of as matte, though.
The finish on these kind of reminds me of a Fyrinnae lip lustre I just got, how it dries to a soft matte finish with some light shimmer/sparkle. I thought I would hate it (I’m normally not a sparkle person, especially on the lips) but it actually looks really pretty. Out of these two I like La Paz, I’m not totally sold on the other one.
Which Lip Lustre is that? (Apologies if you already told me!)
It’s a Mod World…the colour is totally different (its a light shimmery pink with pale purple sparkle) but its only lip product I’ve seen with that matte yet sparkly finish. The sparkle is fine, much like the NARS one so that I don’t feel silly wearing it…I am not a sparkle person yet I’ve been wearing it for the last 2 days. And now have my eyes on La Paz 🙂
Oh wow, Peloponnesse pure is definitely on my wish list – a beautiful fall colour!
These are pretty to look at, but I don’t think I would get much use out of either color. I do kind of like the finish of these, though.
i think Peloponnese is similar to Nars Beautiful Liar..maybe slightly more opaque.
La Paz should see in person!!!!!
Those just LOOK painfully dry. Drier even than the Mac Retro Matte finishes–though I actually love the feel of the RM finish on me because it’s like it’s not even on. The glitter is also totally throwing me off on these.
It’s that glitter finish that makes them look even drier – like a really, really heavy frost finish can do the same, even if it doesn’t feel that way.
Both colors pretty and gritty, but La Paz looks so divine… I’ve never worn this type of shade, but I’d love to try.
The La Paz is so intruguing! Given I’m not a big frost fan, I think it’s beautiful! Christine, so we’re saying sparkle, do the sparkles “migrate” or are they fine enough they stay put?
No migration! 🙂
The color of La Paz looks gorgeous but the glitter in it just makes it look so dry, like your lips are flaking. Plus, it doesn’t even really look particularly shimmery from afar so I don’t even understand the point of it. Very strange.
I don’t think NARS knows what the word ‘matte’ means. How are these meant to be matte if they have shimmer, glitter and a slightly glossy finish?
La Paz looks absolutely amazing on you!
Thank you, Davina!
Hello,
La Paz seems like a really great evening shade. Might get it for dinner dates with the bf! Thanks for posting!
