So brands haven’t listened to our pleas to stop with the dizzying exclusive retailer releases and release dates. I can’t stand it. It doesn’t feel like a collection if I have to shop 3-4 stores to get it. I can’t believe the pieces aren’t even available all on NARS website.

Susan Avatar

So, as a marketing person, I would guess that the reason it’s not all available in all retailers is that each retailer negotiated an exclusive product to give them a competitive edge. If I’m Ulta, why do I want to carry NARS if the customer can walk into the Sephora or Lord & Taylor or Nordstrom in the same mall to get it? (which is true for my mall BTW.) If they have an exclusive product, it drives the consumer to their store. Maybe annoying for you, but retailers need some competitive edge to keep the doors open.

One of their recent Erdem palettes (Night Garden) did the same thing. I actually love the super dark brown in that palette more than the black included. But does seem weird for them to do it again. Could have included a mid tone brown and one could always mix black and brown to get chocolate.

Patty Avatar

I want that Hot Tryst pallet so much!! I’m am such a sucker for embossed patterns and that is over the top! Does it make any sense for a snow white? Should I resist?

Mimi Avatar

I am so excited!! When I first heard they were doing an advent calendar I immediately called my local NARS boutique to reserve one. Guess I’ll be picking it up (and possibly other selections from this collection) very soon!! ♡

Tessa Avatar

Okay, but why would they include a concealer (apparently available only in one shade) in that set?

Boggles my mind. It’s like when Sephora keeps trying to offer me foundation samples in a few random shades. The entire point of foundation or concealer is to match your skin; somebody, somewhere surely should be able to do the math and realize that there is a far greater chance of it NOT matching a random consumer.

Kecia S. Avatar

As a devoted #NARSissist, I’m excited for this collection. I can’t wait for swatches, especially of Sheena (such a fascinating description) & a few of the other lip products. And not that I need another eyeshadow palette (I promise I DON’T), but Provocateur is speaking to me.

Nicole D Avatar

I like Hot Tryst a lot but I’m not sure I would order it. Between Hot Tryst and the second Hourglass cheek palette I think that the finishes from Hourglass will suit me better. Will see.
I would have loved to try Little Fetishes in Capri/Dolce Vita but I see that it’s not available at Sephora and I don’t feel like ordering it from USA (Ulta).

IDK. My old Lustre is far too orange and light to be a bronzer. Look it up here, to see the swatch, etc., then you’ll have a better idea.

Having actually been into punk in the 1970s, I am both attracted and repelled by this collection. The colors and the packaging are beautiful and I love the shade names, especially Siouxsie, Nancy, and Sheena (too bad they didn’t also use the names Poly, Ari, and Debbie). But on the other hand, it is so anti-punk in nature to appropriate 70s punk to sell high end cosmetics.

I’m just glad I’m not truly tempted by anything in this collection so I don’t have to think too hard about it!!

Reka Avatar

Second this so much (especially Poly and Ari), though my love for old school punk dates to the 80’s due to age (I was six in 1978). Unfortunately, I do really like the blush palette as I am a complete sucker for colors and the 3D Voronoi diagrams really appeals to my geeky self (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voronoi_diagram) so it is hard to keep my desire to hate this pure.

Ginny Avatar

The eye palettes and the embossed blush palette are goooorrrrrrrgeous. Definitely speaking to me but I know that in practice I just wouldn’t end up using them much and I own similar colors.

But I’ve been seriously eyeing Fort de France highlighter so I think I’ll get the little set with Laguna. Hot little black box and only $24? Brilliant.

Tracey E. Avatar

NARS has some beautiful releases this holiday season. Like many, Hot Tryst tops my list. Thanks for the detailed information and timing, Christine!

Alana Avatar

That Hot Tryst blush palette is… wow. I really hope it performs well because blush is one thing that my vanity lacks. Though I literally just picked up the Natasha Denona Darya palette so I wouldn’t feel right to grab another blush palette so soon.

Kathryn Avatar

Do we know what time they release on NARS’s site? I know that highlighter/blush palette will be sold out fast so I want to make sure I’m prepared for when it releases.

Reka Avatar

If anyone is interested in making their own spiky patterns like the packaging, Tinkercad (online 3D modeling software, very easy to use) has a featured shape generator called voronoi that will produce custom digital models of spiky spaces like this (I occasionally use it to make imaginary mountain ranges). Getting actual copies of the model requires a 3D printer, but you can always send away to Shapeways and have them print it for you!

gabis Avatar

I am liking the design and the packaging more than the content of this collection. The repetitiveness of these Holiday gifts – in terms of gift composition – is also a let down. Probably a pass for me.

KatyCT Avatar

Hot Tryst is already on its pretty little way to me. The whole collection is really beautiful. It looks high end and not gimmicky as so many brands tend to do for the holidays.

Silvia Avatar

Oh! Santa! Those blushes and highliters sets please? I’ll add extra cotton on my chimney so they won’t brake. Or simply text me before passing by and i’ll grab them with my hands! Lol!!! Awwwso pretty!
