I’m so disappointed that NARS is no longer cruelty free. I want the cheek palette and the sexual content (cringe) gloss but won’t buy them.

I know what you mean. It is sad as they seem to have taken a step backwards rather than moving forward. I see the future being only cruelty free makeup. I also think that if it was a moral choice and they decided that they don’t care animals are being harmed then that is one thing (not necessarily right but their position), to do it for money when you are a huge brand is very sad. I am sure that China is a huge market and that is very appealing to any company but you were doing fine before you decided to crash that market. Anyway, I am with you on the shades and the cringe worthy names. That is Nars for you though. After purchasing P*****Y Control I vowed I wasn’t going to buy another lippie with that type of name and so far, I haven’t.

I think as long as we keep seeing so many smaller, less expensive brands popping up, more of the mainstream brands are going to crossover to the China market, if only to maintain relevancy… Even with larger brands like Kat von D Beauty & Lime Crime, who are CF, we’re seeing boycotts, simply because people take issue with the owners of the brands…

I have an entire litany of alternate names, like Out of Control and Do It Baby, because the public DOES ask for names (in retail) and you want to be prepared. That’s where the real m/u fiends out themselves by laughing. They know that the name was altered from s.t. less than appropriate. I just say, ā€˜You know far too much,’ and people nearby just don’t get it. Almost becomes inside jokes. Lewd names just screech trying too hard to be edgy. I like the SG names.

Nah, wiith resistant bacterias and virus, idiots not getting vaccinated, technological advances, etc, testing on animals would be even more important in the future to ensure safety for human. I am happy NARS is putting humans first by using advanced technology rather than relying on traditional ingredients.

The problem here is that you simply don’t understand ANY of the science involved.

We are good enough at AI modelling now that there is literally no need to test on animals even for medicines, let alone for makeup.

You mention technological advances without seeming aware of the relevant ones.

I’m closing this discussion because there’s nothing being cited but large claims being made, so it’s information being shared with no verification, and I think it’s a serious topic that requires citation to research/studies to avoid misinformation being passed along. If someone wants to comment and provide resources/citations/sources, I’ll be happy to approve, but for now, I will not be approving any more comments in this thread.

I’ve not bought anything from NARS after they went from cruelty free to start selling in China with some lame excuse of not wanting to deprive the Chinese people from being able to buy from them and, I can’t recall exactly but there was something like influence the Chinese to stop testing on animals. It’s all about money either way, isn’t it.
I can’t say I’m tempted by this release though. There are only three out of six blushes I’d use, and the glosses doesn’t scream my name.

I don’t love Nars lip glosses but Fever Beat is quite pretty. I am passing though on both the cheeks and lips. I have so many blushes and unless it is a new formula, like the Buxom cheeks, I don’t need anymore. I really want to try the Buxom ones to see if I like the formula.

The palette is fine if the many shades work for you, but seeing as NARS has completely capitulated on their cruelty free status and continue to use explicit names for their products, I am not purchasing their products.
The lipglosses look a little wishy washy to me.

Nicole D Avatar

It’s a beautiful palette, but I already have these shades (with the exception of Give It Away, which is too warm & dark for me) from separate blushes. I’m all set with my Becca x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face palette, UD x JM Basquiat Blush palette, Clinique Get Cheeky Cheek Pop palette + single blush in Heather, Hourglass Vol. 4, Chanel Les Tissages in Cherry Blossom and Chanel Le Blanc Face Palette Spring 2018.

Wish Nars released more individual blushes. Haven’t bought any of their blush palettes. There are always at least two colors I won’t use and i find the palettes unwieldy for travel as I dont travel with six blushes.

Mimi Avatar

Definitely interested in the cheek palette and some of the glosses too (e.g. Color Me). Also I’m intrigued by the “lip tint” that is included in the lip duos and part of the Exposed Collection (not featured here, the ones with the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils). Really interested to know what that texture is like!

It’s interesting, I find this so gorgeous but mainly because of the packaging — but in reality I always depot these huge blush sets because they are too hard to travel with and throw away the leftover lump of plastic! I’ve been really trying to think more about where the things I buy end up at the end of their lifecycle before I buy them.

I agree with the other commenter who said NARS keeps releasing the same color scheme. This looks so similar to Hot Tryst.

BunnyFufu Avatar

Yikes. I’m so glad I jumped on Hot Tryst when I got the chance, bc I see Nars is back to oranges in this Spring offering. Those are the absolute death on my NC 13-15 olive tone. Blah. Oh well, money saved.
