Perfect for Perfect Skin

NARS Cadaques Multiple Tint ($38 for 0.52 oz.) is a fantastic barely-there flush if you have naturally lovely skin.  If your skin has enough imperfections where you tend to use foundation or powder for coverage, the new Multiple Tints just don’t seem to be worthwhile. I swatched all three of the Multiple Tints at Nordstrom a few weeks ago, but I also tested Cadaques at home.

The staying power of Cadaques is excellent–really lasts all day and then some.  It’s not heavy or greasy once it finally dries down, but it took at least fifteen minutes before it seemed to settle on the skin.  I experienced this issue with drying when I swatched them on my arm, too–imagine holding your arm away from your beige shirt for twenty minutes!  Personally, this is a total deal-breaker for me, because the last thing I want to do is add another fifteen minutes to my makeup routine.

It layers best directly onto skin, and the best application method is straight from the tube, because the product is very sheer.  It gave my medium skin a nice, subtle flush without a fuss, but it did not seem to be buildable other than that initial flush.   The application wasn’t as smooth or as even when applied over foundation (even liquid), and it seemed kind of gross (to me) to smear the stick on top of foundation, too.

This is kind of where the perfect skin bit kicks in — it’s best on natural skin, but it’s so subtle, layering foundation on top, even lightly, nearly covers up all the blush.  I also found that the staying power definitely lived up to expectations when applied directly to skin, but on top of foundation, it seemed to fade by mid-day.  It really is just better over the skin rather than over foundation.  If you rock the no-foundation look often and like gel-like blushes, I think the Multiple Tints may be up your alley.

I found the texture of them to be almost watery/slippery on the surface, even though they’re completely solid.  You get plenty of product, but these are actually incredibly reminiscent of Tarte’s Cheek Stains ($30 for 1 oz. — nearly double the product for a little less).  The subtle raspberry pink of Cadaques will complement cooler skin tones beautifully, but it is not so cool that it doesn’t work just as well as warmer skin tones.  It has a soft sheen that’s not oily or greasy-looking, and if I have another good skin week, I’ll definitely give this another go.

Do the have any glitter in them? I love cream-blsuh, but I need some glitter that makes skin looks smoother. I just try out the Orgasm Multiple, very subtle colour, but lots of gold, and I am quite fond of it. It is just so expensive…

That color is pretty, but I’m with you on this one. The last thing I need is to add an extra 15 minutes to make makeup routine.

I have all 3 of them and have to agree that they are quite sheer. I keep them for when I want a natural flush/glow after the gym type-thing. Have you tried them on the lips Christine? They are a nice alternative to gloss/lip balm. But, like you, I rerally hate to use them on top of foundation or any kind of powder product because it just smears the whole face!…

My mommy bought me this for my birthday and I love it…and I got the last one in the store! It’s the perfect summer blush for this fair-skinned, blue-eyed gal, but I agree with you about the taste. Nasty on the lips!

What if you apply it after the translucid powder?

I have the Luxor Multiple and I use it as an illuminator. I have to rub it a bit so it looks natural. And I think it stays on for quite a while, if not, for the entire day.

I can’t make up my mind to which color is prettier.

I love Tarte’s Cheek Stain in Flush, but I’m not using it a lot right now.

I was very curious about these swatches because I couldn’t find a decent review anywhere.

This actually seems so great for me. I stopped using foundation all together because I discovered the silicones weren’t the best thing to put on my face. I’m not allergic or anything but after I stopped using it my face has become SO clear! I’ve really been wanting to try these out but couldn’t get a decent review anywhere. Thanks:) also what do you think about Turks & caicos?? I’m debating on wether using that or not.

I love it with tinted moisturizer! In the summer I don’t like wearing liquid foundation or heavy powder, so it’s perfect for me. I have tried with very sheer powder after and it’s also ok. It lasts a long time and seems natural. I have acne prone skin and it doesn’t seem to break out, which is really nice.

I bought the one in Turks & Caicos. I love it with coralista over it. Sooo gorgeous…. I use my mac 130 brush to apply it and find that works really great. I tried using my fingers first and my foundation went everywhere. (not cute) With the 130 brush I dont have that problem. 🙂

I did find I had to swipe my brush accross the top quite a few times to pick up a good amount of color. When I did that though it worked great. 🙂

I got Turks & Caicos and Cadaques, and i prefer Turks & Caicos because it works better with my warmer skin tone. Did you try using finger to apply it, I find the color show much stronger when i apply it with my finger.

I haven’t tried these yet since they weren’t available at the NARS counters I checked, but I hope to do so soon. I read a beauty blog a few months ago (sorry i have no idea which one) where the reviewer applied the multiple tint under her foundation (maybe it was tinted moisturiser?). I use a similar technique with my illamasqua cream blushers, except with the bronzing duo to contour and highlight…and it makes it look like the colour is actually emanating from within. I was kinda hoping to get turks & caicos and use it that way…I’m gad you did the review – I was kind of wondering why i hadn’t seen these on here! 😉
