NARS Blame It On NARS Blush Palette
NARS Blame It On NARS Blush Palette ($59.00 for 0.56 oz.) includes a highlighter, bronzer, and two blushes, plus a traval-sized ITA brush. I have reviewed most of these shades before, so the list of similar shades is pretty up-to-date, so rather than pull a new link, I’ve included the current lists as they stand. I did test each of these versions for wear, pigmentation, application, and so forth. I think the packaging is really cool, but I wish the compact didn’t feel so bulky. I really like some of NARS’ blushes, but there are a fair amount that have been misses for me. This palette is a bit of a mixed bag, and I find there is too much variance from release to release.
It may seem expensive initially, but each powder is 0.14 oz., while a full-sized highlighter/blush from NARS is 0.16 oz. and costs $30. The bronzer is larger at 0.28 oz. and retails for $39. You’re getting 0.42 oz. of blush, which is a value of $78.75. You’re getting 0.14 oz. of bronzer, which is a value of $19.50. The kit has $98.25 worth of powder products and then whatever value the ITA would bring in (full-size retails for $55, which I don’t have, so I can’t comment on the quality between the two, but I do not like the travel version at all, as it is very scratchy, rough, poorly cut, and sheds).
Satellite of Love is described as a “sparkling gold sand.” It’s sort of apt, because it is a muted, medium brown with warmer, orange undertones and larger gold sparkle that tends to separate from the base powder, so not as much sticks to the skin or gets trapped in your brush. The version in the palette seems a little smoother but drier than the one I have as an individual pan (it is permanent), and it didn’t seem to emphasize pores this time around. It is a Highlighting Blush, so it is a more buildable product, though the best case was semi-opaque. The color wore for seven hours before fading. Surratt Beauty Grisaille (P, $32.00) is more shimmery. NARS Jubilation (Right) (P, ) is less shimmery, more pigmented, brighter, darker. Chanel Mouche de Beaute Illuminating Powder (LE, $80.00) is darker, more pigmented. View all similar shades on The Dupe List!
Casino is described as a “dark brown with golden shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, orange undertones and a golden, pearly sheen. It had decent to good pigmentation with a slightly firm texture, but it blended well on the skin and lasted for seven hours on me. Disney by Sephora Golden Sands (LE, $55.00) is more shimmery. ColourPop Poolside (P, $8.00) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Gold Dust (P, $65.00) is less shimmery, warmer. Hourglass Radiant Bronze Light (P, $50.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Urban Decay Strip Bronzer (P, ) is more shimmery. View all similar shades on The Dupe List.
Day Dream is described as a “flirty sheer peach.”
This shade has been released previously as a limited edition shade, and the original launch was much more pigmented and almost darker overall, but this version is consistent with the one that was in last holiday’s Laser Cut palette. Urban Decay Score (P, $26.00) is warmer. Surratt Beauty La Vie En Rose (P, $32.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer. Clinique Melon Pop (P, $21.00) is more shimmery. MAC Alpha Girl (LE, $26.00) is darker. Chanel Angelique (190) (P, $45.00) is lighter. MAC Passion for Colour (LE, $20.00) is warmer. MAC Legendary (LE, $21.00) is lighter. MAC Fleeting Romance (P, $23.50) is cooler. Gucci Beauty Coral Flower (P, $49.00) is darker, warmer. Tarte Bashful (LE, $26.00) is darker. MAC Sideshow You (LE, $21.00) is darker. Make Up For Ever I802 Coral Pink (P, $21.00) is cooler. Tom Ford Beauty Unabashed Blush (LE, $55.00) is darker. NYX Summer Peach (P, $5.00) is more shimmery, warmer, cooler, lighter. NYX Apricot (P, $5.00) is more shimmery, darker. View all similar shades on The Dupe List.
New Attitude is described as a “cherry blossom pink.” It’s a light-medium pink with a mostly matte finish. The version in this palette seems to lean warmer, whereas the individual version I have of it was distinctly blue-based (even in the pans!). The texture of this blush was soft but a little powdery, and it lasted for seven and a half hours on me. ColourPop Mochi (P, $8.00) is warmer. Makeup Geek Rendezvous (P, $9.99) is lighter, brighter, less pigmented, cooler. MAC Lovecloud (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler. Tarte Flush (P, $26.00) is brighter. Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is cooler. Urban Decay Blush (P, ) is darker. Milani Delizioso Pink (10) (P, $7.99) is warmer. theBalm Argyle (P, $22.00) is darker. Tarte Dollface (P, $26.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler. theBalm Down Boy (P, $21.00) is lighter, cooler. Bobbi Brown Pastel Pink (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer. MAC Pure Femininity (LE, $20.00) is darker, brighter, cooler. Edward Bess Bed of Roses (P, $43.00) is darker, warmer. NARS Angelika (P, $30.00) is darker, warmer. Urban Decay Quickie (LE, ) is darker, brighter, cooler. View all similar shades on The Dupe List/a>.

Oh too bad! This doesn’t seem so great. =( Bummer. I don’t own any NARS blushes and I was eyeing the 2014 Holiday palette. That one looked like a better value but the colours didn’t seem so great for my NC42 skin. This palette sounds like a miss and in Canada it costs $68. I was going to get suckered in for the travel-sized ITA brush because I don’t have the full-size and always read great things about it even though my gut says perhaps I should just get a dupe lol. Decisions decisions. Well I guess this one is a pass for me. I will wait for NARS to come up with better blush choices in a palette- though I know they always add Orgasm and I really don’t care for that blush as I have one by theBalm and a Sleek one that are dupes so those are good enough for me =). Christine, what NARS single blushes would you suggest for NC42 ish?
Dolce Vita, Exhibit A, Oasis, Taj Mahal, Luster!
Thanks a lot for this suggestion Chris 🙂
This is a good “deal” and it looks pretty. I passed in lieu of wanting some of the new Too Faced and Becca blushes you are reviewing. I am still sitting on the Chanel face case,,ugh..driving me nuts! Christine, did you pick that one up? I didn’t see it in you initial haul. But, I was wondering if I may have missed it while in the hospital. I still haven’t been able to catch up completely on all the posts I missed! If not, do you mind giving me your opinion as a consumer of it?
I didn’t get the Chanel one, unfortunately!
I have the old NARS x Danmari from 3 years ago which seems nicer. Has Casino in it, and there’s still a ton of product left in the pan 🙂 so I’ll definitely be skipping this!
The packaging on the previous blush palettes is so much more streamlined to me!
Well, so glad to see a NARS kit that doesn’t include Orgasm and Laguna. The 2 blushes are pretty colors, will flatter almost everyone. But is it just me, or do the highlighter and bronzer look almost the same, except one is more shimmery? Anyways, if these colors work for you, this would be a convenient kit to travel with, or to grab in the morning
They definitely are in the same family!
The full size ITA brush isn’t better than the travel size. It was so hyped up that I waited for months for it to come back in stock, and I was so excited for it, but I really hated it. It went back to Sephora almost immediately
I have heard either raves or rants, but it seems inconsistent. I don’t like most of NARS’ brushes, especially the newer ones. As in… I really DO NOT LIKE.
I agree with you Kat. It is awful So scratchy. I don’t get the big deal. I kept mine though because I pestered the guy at the Nars counter so much he held me one of the first ones that came back in. So, it collects dust.:(
I also was trying to find that comment about the Lauder/ K.Jenner collab lipstick, Restless and I couldn’t recall where it was. So, ill just chat about it here. 🙂 I tried it some more ways to figure if it was workable. The best thing I can think of is to treat it like I do retro mattes basically. It reminds me of those in a way but it is thicker. So, lip prep, lube before, blot, then a lipliner to help stop the slippage . It helps . It’s a gorgeous color. But, I am sure most have dupes. we discussed that. But, the formula IMO is not the best. Just though I would share my experience in case you were curious or really wanted to get the shade or are a Kylie Jenner fan. I bought it because I thought Lauder was doing well with their new lipsticks.
Thanks for the update! I’m glad I didn’t spend the money. I like the Retro Matte formula but only because it’s not thick on the lips. I think I’ll definitely skip.
Wow, a NARS face palette that doesn’t include Orgasm and Laguna, hahaha. I am definitely getting this—fingers crossed that they stock this in my country! (Or is it a limited-to-a-certain-store product?)
Haha!
The only shade that I really like here is Day Dream, so this is not the quad for me.
Money saved!
Not bad! But also not exactly perfect either. That highligher just looks, Idk, crumbly in the swatch? I do love the color selection however, especially Casino instead of Laguna, and I actually love Laguna, but I like that it’s not the same old-same-old! But I’m good with my ColourPop Poolside as a dupe.
The sparkles are very loose in Satellite of Love!
WOW! NARS hit it out of the park with this one. I picked this up at the Nordies Anniversary Sale. It’s perfect for travel and the colors, although I find they don’t swatch that great, apply beautifully! The lasting power is easily 12 hours on my normal to oily skin. Perfect colors for fair to medium skin tones in my opinion. Loved Casino as a contour and bronzer, Satelitte is a lovely sheer wash of pale golden warmth. . . .but not too warm. Both blushes are just gorgeous. The included brush is quite functional! The onlyproblem I have is the opening clasp is quite stiff and makes the palette difficult to open. I am hoping this loosens up with repeated use. Really, really, pleased!
Wow, that’s great wear, Lisa! I’m so jealous!!
Yeah, not for me 🙁
Bummer!
The two pink blushes are pretty, but the highlighter and bronzer are too dark for me.
I’m surprised they’d call it a highlighter, if only because almost every other one they’ve put out is very, very light!
It really looks more like a super-sparkly lighter bronzer, or a dark bronzy-peafcdh blush…something like that.
*peach* not *peafcdh.* I have no idea how I managed to type that! 😀
A fairly good mix of colours that you could wear independently or some together. Good value for the price.
It’s not a bad value for sure!
This palette seems really nice, I cannot wait to see this in person. I usually need to see things in person to see if I feel like buying it or not
Hope you can check it out soon, Zaza!
