NARS 413 BLKR The Multiple Review, Photos, Swatches

NARS 413 BLKR The Multiple
NARS 413 BLKR The Multiple

NARS 413 BLKR The Multiple ($39.00 for 0.50 oz.) is described as a “rich burgundy.” It’s a reddish-wine with a little rust and berry thrown in for good measure that dries down to a mostly matte finish–there’s a very subtle shimmer that reads matte on the skin. My first thought was that it seemed like a dead-ringer for NARS Seduction, which launched recently, and it’s really quite close; so it’s a matter of whether you prefer powder or cream-to-powder. NARS Dolce Vita is much pinker. MAC Hidden Treasure is warmer, more orange. NARS G-Spot has more shimmer and is a softer, slightly rosier color. NARS Grenadines (an eyeshadow) is also similar but very matte, slightly muted.

Now, The Multiple and I don’t get along as well as you’d expect, and the reality is that as a multi-tasking product, The Multiples are disappointing. Trying to use one on the lips is like signing yourself up for a one-way trip to chapped, cracked, and peeling lips that look as awful as they feel. Turning them a reddish color only serves to make lips look almost bloody and torn. It was not a flattering look at all.

Multiples can also be used on eyes and cheeks, though if you have sensitivities to red dyes, you may want to avoid using this on the eyes. When I used it on the eye area, there was some noticeable creasing after six hours. The best application of The Multiple tends to be on the cheeks, and 413 BLKR is no exception. It’s an incredibly pigmented product, and two little dabs will give plenty of color for most complexions. The product applies best when warmed up, so fingertips tend to be helpful in spreading and blending out the product. I like using a brush to apply and spread but then use fingertips to soften the edges. Once applied, I saw good wear for seven and a half hours, and then after nine hours, there was noticeable fading.

This would be so pretty as a lip color, unfortunately the formula doesn’t lend itself well to that. As a blush, I’d rather go with Seduction, since it seems a powder would build up better. Of as an eye color, I’ll just stick with my beloved Grenadines.

Nars has been making 413 Blkr as lipcolor for years, it’s as big a deal as Orgasm. At least to Nars people, and in Europe and Asia. Putting it out as a big make up crayon makes huge sense in their market. And these brick reds may be about to come back. It’s time.

While I’ve been getting into cream blushes lately, I think this is still a miss for me. The color just doesn’t appeal to me that much and I like more forgiving blushes.

I wouldn’t use it as a cream blush either. The color is a bit off for me. I have this similar-looking 3-in-1 stick from e.l.f. (dirt cheap, seriously :-)) in a pretty pink and that one I do use as both blush and lip stick.

I absolutely loved it when I saw the swatch on your hand, what a gorgeous deep burgundy. But then I saw it on your cheeks and it looks super pink, how disappointing 🙁

I’ve been looking for a true, deep burgundy blush and haven’t been very successful. Even Nars Seduction is too pink for me.

Screen images are mere indicators. You’ll need to swatch in person. You also need to apply these with a big buffer brush. If you look at Nars brushes- they have a huge gorgeous website – the Bronzing brush is utterly amazing! Real workhorse and could be great for this. Nars doesn’t use MAC brushes. Different tools.

It’s such an appealing product, but I know that I don’t need it, especially since I can get a much less expensive cream blush that’s amazing quality from NYX. If it were more successful as a multitasker, maybe I’d consider actually purchasing it. On another note, Clinique Curviest Caramel is SO FLATTERING on you.

That color looks great on you in the picture Christine. For you who don’t know, this is a best selling color in lip gloss and I think it comes in lipstick too. It would be great on plenty of people.

Oh such a beautiful color! I would love a lipstick in this kind of burgundy… but the pure matte blkr lipstick is not anywhere near to this (altough it seems to be a lovely colour too) it is also described as a warm rose brown. does anyone know a good lipstick similar to this colour???
