Hotel Lobby

Milk Makeup Hotel Lobby Eye Pigment ($24.00 for 0.34 oz.) is a light, champagne gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was creamy enough to spread easily across the lid but did not feel overly wet or slippery, so it applied with rich, opaque coverage. I felt like this shade was very, very pigmented and a little went a long way (out of all five that I tried). I had no trouble applying this on the lid with a brush, but it worked well as an all over lid color applied with fingertips. On me, the color was still going strong after twelve hours of wear.

The formula is supposed to be a “highly pigmented cream eyeshadow” that is “long-wearing” with a “soft, silky texture” that will dry “quickly without creasing” but is still “easily blendable.” I bought five shades (there are 11 in the range) and had good luck with three of them and found two to be more troublesome to use. It seemed like the more pearly shades were easier to use than the ones with larger sparkles. I wasn’t sure if the squeeze tube format was going to work, but it was fairly easy to dispense product without getting too much at once but product can get dried out and clog the opening.

The texture was smooth, creamy, and emollient enough to spread easily across the lid. They dried down quickly but I did not feel too rushed (I would still work one eye at a time, though). I noticed that they felt a bit heavier on the lids and had a tendency to cling and emphasize any texture on my lids (most noticeable on the inner portion of my lids). They lasted between nine and eleven hours on me with one of the more glittery shades crumbling over time. I applied mine using a flat, synthetic brush (like MAC 242) as well as fingertips, though I personally prefer brushes so that is what I reached for most of the time.

Gig

Milk Makeup Gig Eye Pigment ($24.00 for 0.34 oz.) is a rich, coppery brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented where a little went a long way. The consistency was smooth, creamy without being too wet, and it spread easily across the lid and into the crease. I could buff the edges lightly with a dense, crease brush without a lot of work. It would worked sheered out as an all-over, one-and-done kind of eye look as well. It wore well for twelve hours without creasing or fading on me.

Peep Show

Milk Makeup Peep Show Eye Pigment ($24.00 for 0.34 oz.) is a medium, purple-taupe with silver and purple sparkle. This was the most glittery shade out of the five I tried, and the only way I could get it to work decently applied all over the lid with fingertips but it dried down and made my lids look wrinkled/very textured. It had semi-sheer coverage that lasted for nine hours without creasing but had large chunks of product/glitter drop while I wore it.

Iv had hotel lobby in my cart on sephora for a few days, so the timing of this review was amazing as always Christine!

I have such oily lids, I was really intrigued by these!

Hotel Lobby and Gig look splendid! So rich and pigmented, plus 12 hour wear make them appealing. I do, however, own CP Weenie and a lot of gold shades, too. The squeeze tube and formula bring to mind my ancient go-to of my youth: Mary Quant!

I bought Peep Show and returned it. It totally made my eyes look older. Not a good look. I’ll try Gig to see if that is better on me. I love a good bronze shadow.

I really feel the performance is the result of the finish, but it could be something else, since I only have five!

I’m excited you’re reviewing these. I’ve been intrigued and thought about purchasing but hadn’t pulled the trigger yet.

Swatched these on the back of my hand at the Sephora in Seattle when I was there in April and they were beautiful but didn’t have time to play with them and was worried they wouldn’t blend out so didn’t pick any up. I will have to check them out again when I am in California in late July. Funny how a brand can create 2 with A+ and an F. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum.

Thank you for mentioning if a cream eyeshadow adds texture! I have oily lids in a hooded eye shape, so cream eyeshadows are super hit or miss. Many reviewers miss this detail and it’s appreciated!

PS. If anyone wants to know what cream eyeshadows I have found the most luck with:
– Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow
– Maybelline Color Tattoo
– Avon Color Cream Eyeshadow (discontinued)

No problem, Zoe! 🙂 It could be that they have smoother lids, too, so they don’t have the texture to emphasize!

If the finish was fairly smooth, yes, but anything chunky wouldn’t work as well. I do think there are easier cream eyeshadows for using as a primer, though – these have a really strong dry down and if you do a lot of work on top, you might flake off the cream eyeshadow. You can absolutely blend and use powders on top, but I don’t know if I’d make it my go-to primer.

I have rave and jam room and I absolutely love them both. They look amazing on and they don’t budge which is great for me since my eye makeup always tends to move but not this!! Such a great product!!!

Too bad Peep Show is such an epic fail! I have liquid shadows very similar to the other two but I don’ t have a cool taupe in my stash.

So funny that you did this review! I just reviewed Peep Show on my own blog – but I love it!!! Our swatches don’t look anywhere near the same! Mine is super pigmented, and I don’t have any problems with it! Sorry to hear you didn’t like it!

Hi Rachel,

The right swatch is deliberately sheered out to try and show the product as a wash. The left swatch is one layer.
