Milani Sweet Grapefruit, Coral Crush, Red My Lips Brilliant Shine Lipglosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Milani Brilliant Shine Lipgloss
A few weeks ago, I reviewed Milani’s Brilliant Shine Lipglosses, and today, I have three more shades that I’ve tested from the line-up. To recap, the recently launched formula is supposed to have rich color, extreme high shine, and comfortable lasting wear,” plus be “moisturizing and non-tacky.” The texture is thick but smooth and mostly non-sticky, and the gloss smells like sweet vanilla but has no discernible taste. It comes with a paddle-shaped, sponge-tip applicator that fits along the curve of the lip. The formula has a high-shine, glossy finish, and they wear between three and four hours on me. I notice a slight tackiness that develops after an hour of wear, but it never feels full-on sticky, but it’s not 100% non-sticky. In some ways, the formula reminded me of MAC Lipglass, just not as thick or as tacky. They’re somewhat hydrating as well.
Milani Sweet Grapefruit (09) Brilliant Shine Lipgloss ($5.49 for 0.21 oz.) is a medium, warm-toned pink with a cream finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with some translucency but a noticeable amount of color. This shade lasted four hours on me. Chanel Sonate (178) (P, $29.50) is darker. Paul and Joe Beaute Carnaval (06) (P, $29.00) is lighter. MAC Kiss & Don’t Tell (LE, $15.00) is pinker. MAC Star Quality (LE, $20.00) is darker, brighter. See comparison swatches.
Coral Crush (10) Brilliant Shine Lipgloss ($5.49 for 0.21 oz.) is a medium, muted orange with a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage, but the natural lip color will still come through. As the gloss is on the thicker side, it seems to bunch up if you press your lips together. It wore well for three and a half hours. MAC Everlasting Nude (LE, $19.50) is more muted, lighter. MAC Strictly Plutonic (LE, $20.00) is darker, sheerer. See comparison swatches.
Red My Lips (12) Brilliant Shine Lipgloss ($5.49 for 0.21 oz.) is a bold, brightened, medium red with subtle neutral-to-warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. This shade had rich, opaque color coverage, and it didn’t settle into lip lines. The gloss wore well for four and a half hours on me. Maybelline Signature Scarlet (020) (P, $8.99) is lighter. MAC RiRi Woo (LE, $15.00) is darker. Revlon Fire (P, $7.49) is warmer. MAC Russian Red (P, $15.00) is darker. See comparison swatches.

They’re pretty but I don’t like how the red applies, that happens a lot with highly pigmented glosses, they are a lil uneven 😀 the others are so lovely <3
I thought it applied so evenly!
I just LOVE red lips on you! I picked up a berry gloss the other day and I can’t wait to try it! Milani has been coming out with some nice lippies lately
Thank you, Fancie! 🙂
I like these! Glossy, no shimmer, yep!
Yay!
This formula looks amazing! I can’t get over how opaque and even-looking Red My Lips look. Gorgeous!
Right? Amazing coverage + application on Red My Lips!
I received Red My Lips in the mail today, and my first impression leads me to agree with Christine.
I found that it applied smoothly and evenly, with good coverage.
I wouldn’t mind if it had a bit of shimmer, but I can deal.
A good true red gloss is hard to find, and for this price, especially, this is a real keeper!
I plan to wear it over red lipsticks in the near term, and maybe on its own (with a colorless liner) this summer.
I LOOOVE red lips!
Woohoo, Carla!!
These look really good! The pigmentation is great on Red My Lips. If I had to pick a favourite it would be Coral Crush. If they sold these in the UK I would have picked one up.
I wish they were in the UK 🙁
Me too! Seen so many nice products from this brand argh 🙁
These glosses look great! Love Coral Crush!
It’s a nice shade for spring/summer!
I want all of these..the red is gorgeous!
It is! Very juicy!
Hmmm…I’m going to have to check these out the first two. Milani is one of my favorite drugstore brands and $5.49 is so guilt-free, lol!
Yay!!
Sweet Grapefruit is kinda pretty! Would make a nice layering lipgloss.
I could see that!
Even though the first two are warmer I love them! I think they might be the right shade/opacity to warm me up without looking sickly. That red however looks like a home run for everyone though! It reminds me of Revlon’s Cherries in the Glow lip gloss that was discontinued that I loved so much!
Ooh, I hope that the Red My Lips gloss can replace the one that you loved!
Nice shades!esp Sweet Grapefruit!
Yay! Glad ya liked ’em!
Coral Crush looks so pretty and natural on you!
I like all three, actually – they seem to apply quite well, and for the price, how can you go wrong?!
Very true! They’re incredibly affordable 🙂
Nice to see the shimmer-less shades are pretty good. I bought one of these, but I went straight for the sparkle and picked up Luminous. Crazy sparkly. Milani seems to nail down lip products, I don’t think I have a thing by them that I dislike.
I need to try Luminous NOW!
These are just lovely on you! SO flattering!
Thanks, Kat! xo
Miliani is going for the Olympic gold when it comes to lip glosses.. Yup no money this week.
LOL!
At first glance, i thought they looked quite cheapy, and i was right…until i saw red my lips. Oh boy ive got to go to lowblaws asap and purchase one!
Haha! That one is stunning for sure!
I’ve ordered Red My Lips – need a true red gloss!
Yay!!
Red My Lips came in today’s mail, and I can hardly believe what a perfect true red it is! 🙂
I’m really excited that you’re loving it, Carla!
