Milani Perfect Purple Liquid Eye Pencil Review, Photos, Swatches
Milani Perfect Purple Liquid Eye Pencil
Milani Perfect Purple Liquid Eye Pencil ($6.99 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “bright purple with shimmer.” It’s a medium-dark, red-toned purple with violet and silver shimmer. It is very similar to MAC Designer Purple, but it has smaller sparkle. Urban Decay Psychedelic Sister is similar in color but has more of a satin finish.
From what I can tell, Liquid Eye is really Liquif’Eye just renamed and probably underwent some reformulation, but I really couldn’t tell the difference between the two in regards to texture (even the numbering of the shades is the same). What’s even better is that a good purple eyeliner can be a challenge to find, but Milani nailed this one. It’s intensely pigmented with fantastic color payoff even in a single stroke. The consistency is creamy and glides on beautifully, and once it sets, it stays put.
Now, Milani says that it’s “smudge-proof” and “long-lasting,” and according to Milani, long-lasting means “up to 24 hours.” I didn’t and don’t plan on testing this for 24 hours any time soon (the thought of going to bed with makeup always makes me uncomfortable!), but I did wear this for 16 hours, and it did well overall–there was a slight thinning of the line but no smudging below the liner or migration into the outer or inner corners. So, it wasn’t perfect wear over a 16-hour time period, but for most people, I think the wear will be fantastic for the time they need. It was impeccable after eight hours, just for reference. Based on the thinning I saw between eight and 16 hours, I would expect this to still look decent after 18-20 hours. (But I really wish products weren’t marketed with 24-hour wear!)

Awesome! I’m running low on Designer Purple and if I can get basically the same color for a third of the price I am there.
I would love to get this, but i already have MAC’s designer purple. Is this the same kind of purple as MAC’S one, or is it lighter /darker, Christine?:D
It’s just not as sparkly – the sparkles are larger in Designer Purple.
I very rarely wear anything but black liner, but I think I need this one.
I very rarely wear anything but black liner, but I think I need this one. Purple eye products are literally the first to go in my neck of the woods, so I’m going to track this one down ASAP.
its lovely
Um… Am I the only one who saw this, thought it was a lip pencil, and got really excited? I actually got this as a freebie in a goody bag and have not tried it yet. I definitely plan to now, though!!
Wow, looks like the perfect purple liner! The exact right shade of purple for me, and I love the intensity and amount of shimmer. Unfortunately Milani isn’t available here.
Oh. My. Goodness.
I want it. I might have to pick this up.
I’m definitely going to try these out. I can’t bear to pay for high end eyeliners, it just doesn’t seem worth it to me!
Oh wow, gorgeous :-O
I have this eyeliner and I love it!! My only complaint is that it’s so soft– I keep mine in the freezer 🙂 thanks for all the Milani reviews, hope there will be more.
Thank you for the review Christine! I’ve been looking for a quality purple eyeliner to replace my UD Ransom.
This is great value for money. Especially purple being so hard to get right, and with it being such a pretty color.
Time to go return designer purple for this one, Thanks for the new cheap dupe!
Very pretty! I will have to check these out next time I’m at Target.
Is this waterline safe?
As far as I know, these are not tested or listed as water line safe.
Can you sharpen this ? Once I use up the tip do I have to throw it away ?
Yes, you can sharpen it!
How do you sharpen it? I can’t figure this brand out and there are no directions on the package.
I usually use Urban Decay’s Grindhouse!
Gorgeous shade of purple! So vibrant. *-*
I love how affordable it is too.
I think I may not have this shade yet, but I have a couple of the other Liquid Eye Pencils . <3
Wow, that’s beautiful! Do you know how these wear on the waterline, Christine?
It’s fairly sparkly, so I couldn’t wear it on mine without irritation.
OMG, THE PERFECT PURPLE!!!
I have already ordered two of these (one for me and one for my best friend) and am waiting impatiently for them to arrive.
I have psychedelic sister but i think i need this too! seems a touch darker with tons of sparkle! And the price is hard to beat.
Ooooo! How Pretty! That will extra nice on the hazel and green eyed ladies.
I saw this yesterday. Thanks for the review. I’ll definitely pick this up!
The swatch of this and UD Vice look pretty similar except for the shimmer! I definitely want to pick this up if I see it in stores!
I’m convinced! I will finally try Milani products…starting with this purple liner and that emerald green shadow stick you reviewed a long time ago.
I love how pigmented this liner is! I think I’m going to have to pick one up…I wonder if the other colors are as vivid? I’m very interested in the aqua as well.
Ugh, gorgeous. This might be dangerous for me to wear, as I’d spend all day trying to look at myself! I’m glad they changed the name from “Liquif’Eye”- never liked it.
Is this waterline safe?
As far as I know, it’s not listed or tested for that – I would imagine it isn’t because it is rather sparkly!
Sooo pretty! Must get to drugstore….
want!
OMG this liner is SO rich and vibrant–love it! I am so sad though–whenever I go to any of the CVS stores in my area, they are ALWAYS sold out of these liners. I have the purple automatic one but it doesn’t seem to be as rich or pigmented as this one.
LOVE it! Added to my beauty wish list! I bought my mom the MAC Designer Purple and have coveted it ever since! This is a great dupe!
I love this so much! I ran to the CVS just now to get it – but they don’t have this type. They have the “Liquid Eye” pencils with the clear lid that you can sharpen in a few other shades, but not the purple. They also have a “Liquid Eye” pencil in a twist up tube. It’s confusing that they have two products with the same name – AND an actual liquid eyeliner product. :/ Anyways, I got the purple shade of the twist up type, and it is also darkish purple with similar micro sparkles, but it doesn’t seem exactly the same. I can’t tell if the two different types of pencils have the same colors, but different application styles, or if it is two completely different products.
Hey Rachel!
This page might help you – http://www.milanicosmetics.com/c-7-Eye-Liner.aspx?PC=77
It shows all their different eyeliners!
The Milani website doesn’t list the Gold and Silver shades. Do you know if that means they’re discontinued?
That would be my guess!
LOVE!
I honestly can’t believe how vibrant this is. I need to get it ASAP.
Ooh, pretty, I want it! I am usually impressed by the quality of Milani.
I really wanted to love this, and it is a great color, last a long time, but if you have sensitive eyes, this may not work for you. The second I put it on, My eyes started to sting and itch. I tried it twice. I read a review on Makeup ally that suggested that this was fairly common for those with sensitive eyes.
You are probably allergic to the purple dye. I share the same problem – for the longest time I wondered why my eyes would get swollen, red and itchy after wearing certain makeup. It took me a while to connect it to purple eyeliner on my waterline.
Gorgeous! I wish I could wear purple eye makeup. I’m allergic to the red dye 🙁
Love your products, but i live in Canada (Winnipeg).. and I discovered your makeup , in Supertstore here,. I have your eyeline, liquid eye, which I LOVE.. and keep buying and your rouges. Where else in Canada (Winnipeg) are your items sold? Can you buy your stuff online? Thanks
Hi Christine,
We are a beauty blog – we are not Milani so we do not sell any products!
I won this as a free gift and love it! The only problem is I cant figure out how to advance it once the tip get worn, is there a way to twist it to advance it that I’m not seeing?
These require sharpening!
I love this eyeliner so much! It lasts me all day at work and adds a nice pop of color with the shimmer.
