Milani Flashy Haute Flash Lipgloss

Milani Flashy Haute Flash Lipgloss ($7.49 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “hot pink with hot pink shimmer.” It’s a bright, vibrant, nearly-neon fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a heavy dosage of lighter fuchsia shimmer. MAC Athena’s Kiss is a bit darker, not as neon. OCC Pageant isn’t as bright or as blue-based. The underlying base color is similar to MAC Quick Sizzle, which is a touch darker. The overall look is closer to MAC Pink Pigeon. MAC Show Orchid is a bit darker and more iridescent with less obvious shimmer.

Milani describes the formula as yielding full-color coverage with an extra glossy, non-tacky finish that won’t feather. It’s definitely rich in color–it’s opaque in one pass, and the finish is extremely shimmery and fairly glossy. The one characteristic I disagree on is the texture, because it’s incredibly sticky. It has a thicker consistency, so it’s not a lightweight formula, and the shimmer seemed to clump up in a few places. It feels very much like MAC Dare to Wear Lipglass, though. Swatched, it actually looks like it might be a potential dupe for Gimme That, but it’s very different–Gimme That is a rich fuchsia that goes on as more color and has less shimmer. Milani’s variation has much, much more shimmer. It also has a sweet vanilla scent.

Flashy wore for three and a half hours, and as it faded away, the texture of the shimmer was more noticeable on the lips, so it had a slightly gritty consistency after awhile.  The coverage is fantastic, though, and to get this really bright, neon pink in an opaque gloss isn’t always easy.

MAC Pink Poodle Lipglass is a bit less neon, but is still that hot pink look of Spring. But no shimmer, no grit, and although about price the price you can score it with six empties for free. I loved Dare To Wear, wish they’d bring it back- Gimmee That! was a favorite.

It’s an alternative. I love this color but hate a mouth full of grit.

I thought it would be a great “cheaper” version of pink poodle but it was seriously horrible!! Totally gritty and what I think of when I think of “cheap drugstore” make up, which is insulting since there are some great drugstore finds…this just wasn’t one of them

Christine, I just have to say I really love the way you are taking your new face pictures. They’re so flattering! Anyways, I’ll stop being creepy 🙂

Some things look cute in the “way-back retro- rearview mirror”, but some don’t. This one? For me, it’s a definite no. It’s got all of what made the 80s so tacky. I cringe at this the same way I look back at the “wall of bangs” and pegged stonewashed jeans with slouchy socks. I think this lipgloss can just go back in its time capsule.

Ew- too 80’s just need some bright blue eyeshadow lol

really, I dont care for the texture or the glitter, the colour otherwise would be workable though

I have the red version of this and its not bad! Its definitely shiny but it doesn’t look or feel gritty at all. I think if she would have put another layer on it would look better. It is really bright, so I’ll save it for special occasions.

bought it cause I saw it on another blogger (before this post) but it was horrible!! even tried it with another coat and it just made it more sticky/tacky and had a streetwalker look to it…literally took it back the same day, didn’t even want it around…CVS had a BOGO 1/2 off so I also bought a lip gloss pencil and that had wayyy too much glitter in it also, very cheapy looking…was very disappointed in those two that it will be a long time before I buy another Milani product…if ever.

This stuff is awful.  It burned my lips and just felt really odd.  Hence the name “haute flash” I suppose, lol.  I should have known better.  Anyway, I dislike it so much I’m returning it to CVS. The color I bought also tiny blue glitter flecks.  A definite thumbs down for me.
