Milani Caramel Brown Powder Eyeshadow
Milani Caramel Brown Powder Eyeshadow ($4.49 for 0.11 oz.) is a warmed over medium brown with a golden bronze shimmer and sheen. As gorgeous as this shade is, there are several shades that are similar to it (but you can’t beat the price point of Milani!). Urban Decay Chase is slightly more orange-toned. MAC Love Connection is less brown, more red. Buxom Golden Retriever is similar but darker, less golden/shimmered. Urban Decay Suspect is pretty close, though not as warm.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Milani, because they’ve been one of the more reliable budget-friendly brands for years, not just recently, though they’ve been churning out some impressive products in the past year. Their new range of pressed powder eyeshadows is fantastic overall, and Caramel Brown is no exception. The texture is soft, buttery, and dense and blends beautifully and melts against the skin like butter. Milani says they’re crease-proof, “super pigmented,” and blendable; they’re everything and more–but when I test drove Caramel Brown, I did experience some fading along the edges after eight hours (which is still really good–the majority of formulas have some fading after eight hours without aid of a primer), but absolutely no creasing.
I’m drawn to this shade like you wouldn’t believe–I think it’s the balance of warmth, gold, brown, bronze, and shimmer. It’s lovely against warmer complexions, as it brightens without dominating. It can easily be worn on the lid or in the crease, but I really like it softly on the lid with not much else. Naturally, the strong warm undertones in this hue will flatter warmer complexions overall. I’m a believer that you can wear anything and everything–it’s all about confidence and how you wear it!

I’m *still* irritated that I can’t find these anywhere! I just wish that if a brand chose to do an “exclusive” with a retail outlet, they would oversee that the product was made available at *all* said outlets. I go to CVS at least once a week for other items, so I don’t think they’re selling out that fast, and I go to different locations. Okay, rant over, LOL. It is a gorgeous color, however, I don’t think I’ll be buying any of these, even if I do stumble upon them, as the whole unavailability factor has left a bad impression for me.
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for this product to show up in CVS stores. So far, I went to several and they still are not out yet…not just this color, but all the colors that you have reviewed. I agree that for a budget product, Milani does come out with quality stuff.
Gosh, these are SO pretty! Like Stacy and Xamyx, I have yet to see these show up at any of the 3 CVS locations near me too. I’ve been a little confused, but at least it’s not just me. Strange!
Same complaint here: where do they hide them?? I’ve been going to CVS a few times since I heard about these new shadows, and I have yet to see them!
I’ll echo everyone else: can’t find these ANYWHERE! I’ve gone to a number of diff. CVS stores in Houston, but so far, no luck. It’s disappointing as I really like those few products I own from Milani (esp. their powder compact) and I really wanted to try the eyeshadows after your glowing reviews.
I echo everyone else’s complaints. I hope they come out of hiding soon.
I can’t find these either… This always happens to me with new Milani products, then about six or nine months later they’ve magically appeared in the permanent display section of every store for miles… I had to wait forever for the marbleized baked shadows and the newer blushes! This color is gorgeous enough to be patient for, though 🙂
I just wanted to let people know that I saw these eyeshadows almost two months ago in a CVS in downtown Boston. Hope this helps ladies and gents in MA.
Unfortunately, my local CVS sucks in the Milani section. I’ll have to go to another and look for this shadow and the other shades. How does this compare to Burberry Pale Barley, Christine? It looks more shimmery and maybe more golden bronze.
@Bittenhoney I would agree with your assessment!
I don’t even *have* CVS by me – I’m in the Pacific Northwest – and I have no idea where to find these. My local Walgreens has a tiny Milani section but I can’t find anything there except eyeliners. Looks like I’m out of luck 🙁
I’m still waiting on these to show up in CVS near me – I’ve seen such great reviews. I see Milani’s website and cherryculture sell them online, but at a higher price.
I admit I’m a little surprised at how many people don’t have these available in their area. These are all over the CVS stores where I live, which kind of surprises me given that downtown Pittsburgh really isn’t a “big city” in the traditional sense. (Not anymore, anyway.) Hopefully, they’ll start popping up more. 🙁
Ugh I’m with the rest of the commenters below…CVS has these lurking in their backroom or something. Been wanting to pick some up for a swap for weeks now and no luck 🙁 if anyone has spotted them in southeastern PA/Philly, I’d love to know !
Ugh, there are no CVS stores in my area (I don’t even think there are any in my state) so there’s no way I’m getting these, but I’m moving states this August and there’s a CVS near where I’ll be, so hopefully I can get my hands on them then.
I only saw the baked powder shadows in the Milani section at CVS when I was in there last week but I would really like to try these shadows!! I have a bunch of Milani nailpolishes and I love them! I owned a shadow palette a while back and I was happy with the quality, and you really cant beat the price! For everyone who wants high quality for good price I always point them to Milani and NYX! Oh and I also own one of the glitz and glamour glosses and i love it too!!
This is a brown even I can love 🙂 I have these and really was impressed with them!
I own it: one for me and one for my kit. I was amazed that I could get it, since I don’t live in an area that usually gets the “cool” Milani items. Has anyone tried to get these via Milani’s website, CVS’s website or cherryculture.com? When I was stalking them, those were my next steps.
Gorgeous color! I haven’t seen them near me, but I’ll have to go back to CVS and take a closer look.
Im glad the packaging looks improved, so much of there packaging is super dated. Its why I never bought there products they just looked so dated, it made me question there taste level… But after seeing your reviews I started buying some of there products. I guess you cant judge what to buy based on how pretty the packaging is…
