The Sultry Season: Milani Black Cherry Lipstick
Milani Black Cherry Lipstick ($4.99 for 0.14 oz.) is a blackened berry-red with nearly opaque color–it did not apply quite as nicely as other Milani shades. It looks a little dry, though it didn’t feel that way, and the color seemed to get drawn into my lip lines.
my thoughts on the formula: Milani’s Color Perfect Lipstick is a nice formula that delivers opaque color and are usually creamy, though Black Cherry seemed rather dry and seemed to settle into lip lines. They do have a rather a synthetic/waxy scent, though, which may be too much for those with sensitive sniffers. I typically get three to four hours of wear on average with this formula.

final thoughts: It’s not my favorite Milani, just because the texture isn’t the same as other shades. It’s not as creamy and doesn’t look as flattering when worn.

I own this. It is darker than Milani’s version.
Here in Brazil there’s a Avon “intense cherry” (cereja intenso) and the color is the same…
it is darker depending on the lisptick “lot”(or whatever it is called abroad),i mean,i have the same color, from different lots and the oldest one is exactally the same than Milani´s.The new lot are much darker and in my lips,”almost black”,very cool X3!!!!
I don´t like how it slips into the liplines. That´s a “no-go”, especially for such a dark color.
I LOVE the color but not the formula. I’ll have to check out the products you listed under dupes.

What a shame about the formula, because that color is gorgeous! I can’t stand lipsticks that apply that way… Reminds me of Homegirl by Kat Von D as far as the way it looks patchy on the lip (a little bit in color, too, come to think of it…)
It’s a shame it doesn’t look that nice on, this sort of color is right up my alley!

Me too! I just can’t deal with it settling into lip lines.
Christine do you rub your lips together at all before pics? I notice sometimes things seem to settle in lines (ie a few Korres items which never do that on me) but it’s hard to tell if it settled or applied that way. Since I always apply carefully it mainly matters if it settles vs initial application.
Yup, I press them together, to ensure that the product is distributed evenly.
It reminds me a bit of MAC hang-up in the pic, though your swatch of hang-up doesn’t look similar at all(or similar to what it looks like in person, oddly), which is my fave. Really pretty color, I wish it weren’t so icky looking on!

It looks nice on you Christine and it’s a very pretty color but yes it gathers up on the crevices on your lips, yes.
I love red that is vampy-deep (but not almost berry-black) just like this. Too bad it settled into lip lines… 🙁

It looks incredible in the bullet, but slightly disappointing on your lips…I didn’t think it’d be that sheer. Still, it suits the name.

I believe the label color changes based on lipstick color, so it may vary from purple to red to pink, but I’m not 100% certain.
Gorgeous color! However, the texture and wear sound disappointing. I generally like Milani’s lipsticks, however I hate the shape of the lipstick itself. It doesn’t lend itself to applying easily or well.
