Melt Cosmetics Pink Moon Digital Dust Highlight Review & Swatches

Pink Moon
Melt Cosmetics Pink Moon Digital Dust Highlight ($39.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warmer, more pink-coral undertones and cooler, pink-to-violet sparkle. It had a lightly metallic finish that managed not to emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It had good color coverage but needed a second layer for opaque coverage. The consistency felt drier to the touch, and it seemed to apply less precisely as more product dispersed more readily on my skin. I’d recommend using a lighter touch or smaller brush for more precise application (if one doesn’t intend to wear it all-over the cheeks!). It sat nicely on my skin, though, and it didn’t appear dry or dusty once blended out. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading a bit.

The brand doesn't have a great description of the highlighter formula generally, just descriptions of each shade. The lightest shade--Stargazer--is described as "buildable" but the other two are silent with respect to pigmentation, and the lightest shade was quite pigmented. Since there was no general description, I'm holding the formula to the average powder highlighter's claims--pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable, except Stargazer, which I would expect to have "buildable" pigmentation. The formula has a denser, firmer texture, but it never felt stiff nor was it difficult to blend out on the skin. The coverage was semi-opaque and buildable with a high-shine to metallic finish. All three lasted eight hours on me.

I really like the look of this, it’s just so expensive that even if I were to take back my usual stance on Melt, I don’t think I could spend the cash.
Even based on Melt’s pricing, the price on their highlighters is way off (too high).
Depending on your skin tone, Raw Kristi Beauty said that Ofra’s Cloud 9 is similar. It’s only a few dollars cheaper, but I think Ulta will sometimes have sales on their products. Maybe you can catch it on a sale.
Such a pretty shade! But, WOW, way too pricey.
Well that sure is a nice take on peach! And probably something that would show up on me, whereas I was quite afraid that Dior Hologlam wouldn’t.
These are so beautiful, but just so, so prohibitively expensive. I really like how the two in this collection resemble the Mac Extra Dimension blushes, but I just cannot justify shelling out the extra money to buy from a cruelty free brand. I know Ciate has a similar product that I might invest in in the future . . .
This has the prettiest finish. I’m surprised that most of the dupes have “peach” in their names as I was hoping this was a truer pink but it is lovely. I’ve got 3 of the listed dupes (and don’t use any of them very often because of that whole “peach” thing) but I really should give Papa Don’t Peach and the dupe from the Estee Edit set another try. As it’s a snow day today (no school so I’ve been home but shovelling snow like a woman possessed) maybe I should go up and give my cheeks a dusting with one or both!
Love, but also taken aback at the $$$
I like this, but don’t love it. Granted, I don’t wear pink highlights (or makeup for that matter), so it was never going to be a favorite. However I’m a little disappointed the base color is so strong. On my pale skin it very much shows a dark stripe of color high on the cheek that is….unflattering. But it’s a nice enough blush topper if I just put it on a little lower.
This is seriously pretty and I think it could be a blush – but wow, the price! It’s a very expensive B+ and I think there are many in the market that are as good as this one but at a more reasonable price.
I have vowed to use up some blushes before buying any more blush or highlighters. I don’t wear highlighters on a daily basis and this would be too dark for me anyway. So, passing and staying on my low buy, more about that on Friday, LOL!
You are killing me with that Liev Lipstick, Christine!! I am so close to pulling the trigger, site unseen. It is just such a beautiful shade.
