I’m in full agreement with Tara from Tarababyz that Melt ought to have made one of the two lightest shades considerably lighter, and I personally would have loved it if it was a shimmery finish, too! However, all in all, this one is my taste. I have quite the affinity for olive greens used with warm, rosy neutrals, as it makes my eyes greeness pop.
I like the idea of the peachy pinks and the olives together. However, there isn’t much variety in the shades and it doesn’t seem like you will get more than one type of look (+/- a same colored shimmer). I think Shmood looks pretty and I love all the greens (although depending on how they apply on the eye might want either boy mum to be darker or almond eyes to be lighter/brighter… viewing from a screen I can see those getting muddy). Wish one of the lighter ones was a shimmer too. It is a pretty color story and I will probably try to recreate from what I already own.
Hooray! I’m interested in this palette.
I’m glad I bought this because I love their matte formula, and it is mostly matte. I do think that the two lightest shades are too close in color and they should have made one a light olive shade.
I love the eye look you did Christine. The five colors on the right side I would use a lot the ones on the left not so much and I agree with the others one of the lighter ones should have been a shimmer. I will look through my stash for dupes for the Almond Eyes and Mateo I’m not much of a Lx Queen type of person.
I’m so happy you got this. I was bummed when it was announced – feels lazy – and then seeing how pink the “non-grunge” shades are…..I hate that Melt is falling off my radar. I mean, those last few shades are absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been here for grunge since grunge was invented (literally. as i was alive at that time, young’ins); but I haven’t been here for them trying to marry overly femme in to the grunge.
The first three shades are way too similar for a $60, 10-pan palette – I mean, who do they think they are, Natasha Denona? I like the next two, although they’re a bit too similar to warrant being in the same palette perhaps. I LOVE Mateo, Boy Mum, and Almond Eyes. Shmood is pretty, Melt does those dirty reddish/copper shades very well.
Love the olive greens, but I do think there needs to be a couple of lighter shades and a greater variety of colours.
It’s definitely a beautiful palette but yeah, some of the colors are SO similar.
Schmood! Nice to see decent swatches for a melt palette. I so wish the first three shades were not a waste of time. Why WHY?
Gorgeous color story—red and green is one of my favorite color combos—but like everyone else pointed out, wayyy too many similar shades. I also wish the shimmer to matte ratio was half and half at least. If the greens in this turn out better than the ones in Gemini 1, and I can think of some shimmers I already own to pair with it, I *may* consider it during the Black Friday sale.
This one isn’t on my radar…too many similar colors. :o( Love the grungy greens though!
