Stunning. I love seeing a bilingual release. How beautiful when the two palettes are next to each other — and the models and styling of this whole shoot.
I feel like they should have dropped the press announcement and release about two weeks earlier so that people could get it in time for Dia De Los Muertos.

Christine Avatar

Yeah, I was surprised at how ahead the information is released – I know that I read from Lora’s Instagram that it will be available to purchase at their party (which is on November 1st). I’m wondering if they will do a sneaky, limited release at all (like a 24 hour early access thing), but it does feel pretty far away from an announcement these days!

The early release of info, videos, and backstories may be as a result of other Cos getting nailed for cultural and/or other appropriation. I see these themes as cultural, rather than religious. And the release at Halloween is hardly surprising. Considering America has appropriated (incorporated? It’s all in your point of view.) We are fortunate to have a large Latino population in the US. Many of these visuals and designs come out at the time of all hallow’s/Dia de Los Muertes. This still will be offensive for some, because all do not have the same thoughts and values. Think how boring it would be! As long as it is not exploitative, let’s celebrate our differences in unison, the way we do inclusivity in makeup.

I personally like that they’re giving us all a “head’s up”, and allowing us to prepare for the launch. With so many pieces, it’s going to be pretty expensive for some of us, LOL! Plus, with all the other brands launching their Holiday collections pretty much all at the same time, it’s actually a pretty smart move on Melt Cosmetics’ part, since many of us have already indulged, and need to get the money together… As for not being released “in time for” Dia de Los Muertos, considering how much money many spend already for the Holiday, plus all the other brands’ releases, a break in spending is nice. I spent more than I planned between Holiday launches & concert tickets, and was worried I’d miss out on this, but the date gives me time to save and/or prioritize with a few other things I’ve been on the fence about.

I think this is such a beautiful release! I’m considering the Amor Eterno palette (what a unique colorway!) and the highlighter.

I really love that they’ve chosen to draw from their own heritage here as well as highlighting the work of other Latinx artists in their cover art and campaign music and such. And the bilingual campaign with Spanish language first also seems like a good choice, like they are centering the Latinx and Mexican American communities rather than just pandering to them.

I really like the idea and the aesthetics… but gosh those layered over `swatches` are just awful; they look like they copy-pasted in Photoshop colors on 3 different hands… how hard is to do a real swatch on real skin? The campaign looks are lovely, still.

Jess G Avatar

I hate that all makeup brands are using these types of “swatches” these days. It isn’t useful for seeing the effects of the colors on different skin tones if the makeup isn’t actually applied to those skin tones…..

Everything about this collection is stunning. I don’t know how I feel about the art work and themes of the collection. In general, I am not opposed but something is niggling me about it. I don’t think I would pass on it for any “feelings” I might have about it, though. The swatches look lovely but I will wait for reviews since Melt can be a little hit or miss. They are definitely bright shades and much richer than many that have been released this year. Feels like they are headed in a different direction than many other brands.
I still have not purchased anything from Melt. My daughter has and I have purchased for her a couple of times but I guess I am an old stick in the mud because their stance on the use of weed just rubs me the wrong way. I think ultimately that was why I didn’t end up buying the Smoke Session palette. I sort of danced around my stance when the Smoke Session’s palette released but never really came out and said that was a factor in my not purchasing. It isn’t a popular opinion these days so I don’t go there very often!!

Simply stunning promo. That sugar skull highlighter tho ?
Too bad it’s not out for Halloween – would have been the perfect release time. Those colors are very fall inspired an a 11/29 release cuts it close to winter releases/colors.
Still, that highlighter…. ?

Odielle Avatar

Damn.. this is a collection I feel stands out from the bunch right now.
I LOOVE the artwork, the colour schemes, but not the release date..
I simply can’t wait to buy at least 1 on the eyeshadow palettes and the highlighter!! (:

Ooh Muerte looks so beautiful , and so does the lipsticks . I love the other palette too but I think Muerte would work better for me . Beautiful ?I have family in Mexico who would appreciate this release .

Vittoria Avatar

Holy hell! This is gonna ruin my not buying more makeup & brushes plan! I used to think I was good on pink, red and orangey lipsticks with Bellastona which replaced my fave, Belladonna 2, Stupid Love, Shady Lady, Bang Bang, Summer, the liners and Sidni (one of their liquid lip formulas that isn’t uncomfortable or too dry and feels like nothing on). I was mistaken. A lot of this looks like my bedroom but better so it’s futile for me to resist.
I mean this in the nicest way: Back off of Santos please! Mine! ?

Lauren Avatar

I am in love with Muerte and half in love with Dia, but think I can make some really beautiful looks even with the colors I don’t tend to use. This is just stunning… love the concept, love the packaging, love the promo photos, and love that they included bilingual descriptions. I don’t think I can spring for both, but will probably buy Muerte and put Dia on my holiday wishlist. The blue and green gel liners are also calling my name. What a great release, props to Melt!

Knmngrl Avatar

I’m actually really happy they aren’t releasing this for a while. I would really like a lot of this collection and it’s nice to know the prices and have time to save up.

Wish I could help but these will be their 1st brushes which appear to be LE w the collection and the design of the barrels. I hoped they’d make brushes eventually. When I get my paws on some hopefully by Dec. I’ll let you know. Brush info + pics are up on Melt’s site. They all seem to suit the products they’re releasing: gel liner, e/s, highlighter, lips (if you don’t get OCD over staining white bristles w lipstick like I do.) The 777 Cara brush might be tricky depending on what you prefer for highlighter… It says super soft synthetic DENSE bristles that can be used for Digital Dust Highlighter or foundation. I prefer dense smooth synthetic brushes that are very gentle on skin for coverage products (like many IT Cosmetics brushes) and not dense fluffier brushes for highlighters or blushes. When I’ve applied their Digital Dust Highlighter w a dense brush I saw way too much skin texture in bright lighting but I’m weird about my skin.
