Maybelline Coral Burst Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

Maybelline Coral Burst Blush
Maybelline Coral Burst Blush

Maybelline Coral Burst Blush ($5.99 for 0.09 oz.) is a bold, brightened, medium orange with a soft, golden sheen and a satin finish. MAC Optimistic Orange is a cream product and less golden but still similar. NARS Taj Mahal is lighter, less red-toned. MAC My Paradise is somewhat redder.

Coral Burst is incredibly pigmented–very, very intense, so darker complexions will have no issues with it showing up on their skin tones, while lighter complexions will want to use a light hand and a stippling or fan brush to apply this.  The texture is soft, smooth, and fairly blendable on the skin.  It has a subtle golden shimmer that gives it a luminous, satiny finish that glows but isn’t too frosted, so it doesn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s natural texture.  Coral Burst wore seven hours well on me with slight fading becoming noticeable after eight hours.

Also: can we show some love for Musings of a Muse? I can never find the limited edition collections at my local drugstores, and whenever she spies something new, she always texts me to alert me of her finds!

Ditto for super fair brunettes! I’m Bobbi Brown Alabaster pale, and this blush with a stippling brush is so good I bought backups!

Two of my fave beauty bloggers working together across the coasts in harmony……….Love that like how I love a coral blush!!! 🙂
I got this a few weeks ago & I was so impressed. Its pigmented enough to show up on me now (NC42) and when I get much darker in summer..LOOOOOVE IT!

Julie Avatar

Love Muse’s blog too! Really digging her current Asian skincare/cosmetics spotlight this month. I am always looking for reviews for Holika Holika and Etude House, and she has a lot!
Blush looks beautiful on you, btw.

Picked this up a few weeks ago on impulse and love it so much! Taj Mahal can look a little harsh on my nc15 skin but this orange seems to pull pinker on the skin-making it a perfect coral for everyone!

Barbara Avatar

Precisely why I’m now eyeing this blush. I’m about the same shade as you so I’m glad to hear it’s working out well!

Pamela Avatar

I just swapped for this blush–it’s incredibly beautiful. Love it, love it, love it! All coral/orange fans should have this!

Wearing this blush today and when I was putting it on I was thinking “Why is no one raving about this”?! I love this stuff but I am an NC15 so I have to be very very careful but believe it or not it’s very natural when used with a light hand.

Yay so glad you finally did a review on this. Unfortunately i couldn’t wait so i purchased it about a month ago and am in LOVE with it! It gives my NC44 skintone such an amazing summery glow without being overpowering. I am also amazed at the quality for being a drugstore brand. I’ve never really had much luck with Maybelline but with this collection they’ve really stepped up their game =)

I loved all three shades. They went on well and lasted..i wish maybelline would do a whole permanent collection of these pigmented beauties. This made me think twice about drugstore makeup.

I’m a sucker for orange. I’d have to pick this up if it ever comes to my country. It will be my 10th orange blush. 🙂

Danii Avatar

Oh jeez, that’s bright. You can pull it off Christine! I would possibly only use it as an eyeshadow rather than blush and even then it would have relatively limited use (not a fan of orange in any form).

Ok am I going crazy? I just looked EVERYWHERE for this blush and I can’t find it listed online anywhere. Not on Target’s website, not on Walmart’s website, not even on Maybelline’s own website! Is it not available yet!?

I was already spending waayyy to much time and money in Sephora LOL. NARS Taj Mahal was the last blush I wanted to purchase but when I saw this for only a few bucks…I couldn’t pass it up. Great value. Maybelline is winning.

I like this blush, but I’m kinda scared to try it myself.
I like coral blushes that are more pink, but this one is so orange.
Didn’t know about the golden shimmer though, that’s a nice touch.

I put off buying this because I was scared of such a bright orange but I’m so glad I finally caved and got it, it’s gorgeous! I always have the hardest time finding the limited edition stuff too, luckily my Walgreens had this one.

Suz Avatar

The second I saw this, a few months back, I immediately bought it. Very comparable to my Taj Mahal. Since Coral Burst is Limited Edition, I went ahead and bought a backup! This is a great blush!

The Muse (if I truly would like to know her name) is a doll. I wish I have her Asian collection….esp. the Japanese products…And I think she has every BB and CC cream under the sun…..And those words she crayons out on her blog is delightful. Sometimes, she posts out all those drugstore brand products that just comes out. Because of her…I bought my Lambie slippers last Christmas.

Christina Avatar

Love the Muse! She is a beauty buddy and a fellow NYer, so we commiserate about the local makeup scene. Her blog, like the Muse herself, is fabulous.

BTW love this blush, too, so much so that I bought a back up!

And for the record, love your blog, too, Christine. I often refer to your reviews and swatches when decided to make a purchase. Thank you!

Hmm, I’ve been eyeing Taj Mahal for a long time, perhaps this is a cheaper alternative 🙂
Christine, do you know if this blush is from this image (think it’s from a 2011 Maybelline calendar): http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-y1jzDWgKb38/T2A1jaClXeI/AAAAAAAAAS4/N1hcisNRlps/s1600/Makeup-Tips-For-Dark-Skin-for-blush-on.jpg ?
I see that pic and this http://content.eyeslipsface.com/upload/images/blush.jpg all over the net without a credit to the products and I would love to get something similar

CKG Avatar

Thanks, it does look quite intense!
Taj Mahal looks so unique, I may wait and splurge on that 🙂
BTW, any recs for that pink shade in the second pic?
