Tan-tastic

Marc Jacobs Beauty Tan-tastic O!Mega Bronzer Coconut Perfect Tan ($49.00 for 0.80 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark brown with neutral-to-warm, red undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had good pigmentation, which was buildable to full coverage with less than two layers. The consistency was smooth, denser in the pan but not so firm that it was a challenge to get product to transfer onto a brush. It certainly would work with the coordinating, limited edition Bronze brush, but it worked just as fine with other blush and bronzer brushes I have. The bronzer wore well for eight and a half hours on me.

It’s a limited edition powder bronzer that’s supposed to have a “radiant matte” finish with a “jet-milled powder” that “blends effortlessly” and is scented with a “coconut fragrance.” First thing worth pointing out is that the bronzer is huge–it is double to triple the size of the average powder bronzer on the market–so the price point is almost a “steal” given the brand’s general pricing. It is heavily scented, though I did not notice the scent much, if at all, once applied to the skin, and the scent was coconutty with a hint of sunscreen to me–it felt very beachy but not just pure coconut.

I love it!!! This shade is perfect for me, as it’s not orange or yellow based, but more a reddened clay tone. Crazy how much product is in there! Yeah, that definitely helps to seal the deal here!

I am dying to get my hands on this bronzer! I’m so glad it scored well. Now I’m impatiently waiting for it to come back in stock at Sephora.

I love this shade and tone, but It would be a waste for me to get it. As I only REALLY need one matte bronzer because I rarely use matte bronzers. and this is a pretty big sized one!!!

I agree, Shannon! You definitely don’t need this one if you already have one you use as this is massive!

I think if you want a slightly more natural matte finish, NARS does a better job at that, but the texture of Tan-tastic is a little more pliable overall and I like the tone of Tan-tastic a bit more!

The shade actually looks really nice on this. It’s about as dark as I could go but it looks blendable enough to sheer out some. I’m really liking the finish.

A shining example of why I’ve been REALLY over chasing limited edition items for the past year or so. This is one of the few items I’ve been interested in but told myself not to jump on it until I saw a review from someone I trust (which is all of like 2 people LoL). Now that there’s a review it’s sold out everywhere. Thanks industry influencers! I’ve never said this before and I’m sure it sounds dramatic but I’m actually disgusted right now.

Sadly avoiding the temptation to try to find limited edition products means avoiding photos, reviews and news of those products… which means avoiding blogs and youtubers who talk about those products. Lame isn’t it?! From a blogger perspective, do you ever get frustrated with LE products and reviewing them because by the time you do they are gone?

Hope I’m not sounding like a total d*ckhead. LoL You know I love you more than my hair. Just expressing frustration.

Not really, since half of the review is about dupes anyway, so there’s still reason to review – and it will likely launch in-store still! 🙂 I don’t know if MJB will restock but that’s also a possibility!

You make a good point – having such a large back-catalog of products to reference as potential dupes. My own experience as a blogger has been different. I found myself far more effected by the manic attitude of the community and the lack of support from the industry (in terms of making enough product to support the overwhelming demand). As a casual blogger – and as a consumer – it’s frustrating when I see something that just launched that I’m interested in only to find it sold out everywhere except EBay for 4 times the retail price.

I was about to say that companies should take better care of their customers but then I REALLY start to sound like an old man! Haha Oh well… I’d love to keep typing but I’ve got to go tell some kids to get off my damn lawn. LOL

It’s definitely frustrating as a consumer, and I’m not sure that some brands have any idea of what will or won’t sell out – like this bronzer is not at all something I would have guessed would sell out. It took a bit to go out of stock, I think, so at least it was not instant.

I don’t think that I follow the community as much as you seem to (no judgment), as I tend to find being a little more removed is healthier for me, though I certainly participate and watch in my own ways.

I know, I’ve had it in my Sephora cart for a while now, but I was waiting on the VIB Rouge sale. I went on yesterday to add the Laura Mercier translucent powder that is a new 100 point item only to find out that both things are now out of stock. Very frustrating!

You can compare any two shades side-by-side in the Swatch Gallery under “Compare Any Two,” and the same comparison tool is on this page as well. They are different formulas and colors, so they aren’t dupes!

I like this but definitely don’t need it I never wear bronzers and I own two Tom Ford’s bronzer and Victoria Beckham’s Matte bronzer in Saffron Sun it is beautiful & is a shade lighter than her Java Sun.

I like this a lot! Strange, I wasn’t into bronzers at all until recently! But this probably won’t launch here, so money saved.

For subtle bronzing I like to use a Mac’s pro longwear pressed powder around the perimeters of my face; it is one or two shades darker then my actual tone (it’s the powder I use when I have a bit of a tan, in summer and autumn, Medium Dark). And if I want a little more glow I use the Makeup Revolution Bronze Shimmer Highlight (it’s my first Makeup Revolution product and I am impressed with color pay-off and staying power).
And I cannot wait to pull out my super old Estee Lauder bronzer again, I can’t even find this one on the internet, hahaha! It’s called Amber Bronze and it’s in shade 02 Deep Duo. It’s a lot deeper then the other one, with red undertones like this one from Marc Jacobs. And it’s still ok and it suits me, so I like to keep on using it.

I’m going to have to try this on. I have a hard time finding bronzers I like maybe this as it’s not yellow-y but red-ish. We’ll see 🙂

It said that it was universally flattering shade so I’m just curious how true that is. I use the guerlain terra-cotta bronze in shade 7….so I want to try this but just not sure. What do you think?

I don’t think any bronzer could be universally flattering, given the importance of undertone and light/dark color!

I agree with you totally…brands should use that term very sparingly given those things you mentioned. I purchased it so I’m curious to see how it works.

Hi , this is abolutely beautiful and looks amazing on you. I’m thinking of getting this, and unfortunately cannot swatch it in person. Would you say that is is warmer than the kevyn aucoin sculpting powder in Light? Is it similar?

Thank you xx

You can compare any two swatches through “Compare Any Two,” which is on this page as well as under the Swatch Gallery!
