Marc Jacobs Lollipop & Sunset Highliners Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Marc Jacobs Beauty Lollipop (86) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Lollipop (86) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “cherry pink shimmer.” It’s a brightened, fuchsia pink with warm, reddish undertones and a cooler-toned, iridescent pink shimmer. It had good pigmentation a single pass, while the texture was lightly creamy and easy to apply. On, it lasted for ten and a half hours without fading or migrating. MAC Funfare (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Berry Lucky (LE, $29.00) is darker. Urban Decay Woodstock (LE, $19.00) is very similar. MAC Process Magenta (P, $16.00) is darker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Marc Jacobs Sunset (74) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “golden bronze shimmer.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark golden copper-brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had fairly good color payoff in one pass, and it was buildable to fully opaque coverage with about a layer and a half of product. This shade was previously released in last year’s holiday set, but it is back and permanent. The color wore well for ten hours without fading or thinning. MAC Brassy (P, $16.00) is more gold. MAC Brass Band (P, $16.00) is similar. Sephora Collection Sun Tan (08) (P, $9.00) is yellower. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

These aren’t my colors, but glad they’re are getting A ratings. Is there a pic of you with Sunset on?
I didn’t take one (I was really sick that day – food poisoning – couldn’t handle the lights) this time around. Sorry!
Oh no, sorry to hear that 🙁 Hope you are feeling better now
I am! 🙂 I was out for a couple of days, but I didn’t want to lose testing hours, lol!
Oooh, cheery pink looks interesting… and I’m impressed with how long it lasted! I wonder if this would hold up on my oily lids. >.<
They’re really know for being long-wearing!
I think I need ’em both…
Fun! 🙂
Both the shades are gorgeous 🙂 that pink is very beautiful and not easily avlb. in every brand 🙂
It’s definitely different! 🙂
I have a feeling I am going to want all of these! I would have never though I could wear hot pink eyeliner before. But, you have shown me the way! lol! 🙂
LOL! It is an interesting color to line with for sure.
Christine, do you know when these liners will be making their debut in Sephora stores?
Some readers mentioned buying them in-stores, so may depend on your location.
Pink eyeliner scares me a bit, but this formula looks nice. I like your lower lashline placement!
Thank you, Averymae! 🙂
Jury is still out for me on the pink. Looks more wearable that I would have thought. I have to grab the Sunset pencil. I have dupes, but I love this formula because it just squashes so nicely on my lower lash line. I think another reader commented on the inability to properly sharpen these pencils. I personally never do because I’m ok with the thickness of the pencil, but I have a pronounced and heavier lower lid so do not need the finer line.
I am too lazy to sharpen twist-ups, haha! I only sharpen the ones that you nee to inn order to get more product out of.
Sunset is beautiful! I’m really impressed by the longevity, and wonder how long it will last on the lower lash line.
I tested it on the lower lash line 🙂
Yay! One for the wishlist! 🙂
I’m slowly falling in love with the Highliners in the more ‘unusual’ colours! All those pinks, oranges and coppers look amazing on the lower lashline.
Are they fairly smudge- and waterproof? My eyes are water easily, so everything I wear on the lower lashline has to hold up really well.
They hold up on me, watery eyes or not! A lot of people have really good luck with these on the water line, too.
I love both of these colors! Especially that pink! It’s hard to find pink eyeliners that don’t make you look sick or something lol
It is! They can be tricky to wear.
I’m wearing Lollipop today and it broke the first time I used it! Luckily I was able to smash the broken bit into a spare lid and used a flat eyeliner brush to apply it. I got a good wing doing it that way, at least.
Glad you were able to salvage it, Jenny!
Torn about Lollipop! I have UD Woodstock, but as a liquid liner. One one hand, liquid and pencil have such different applications (at least IMO), but on the other hand, how many hot pink eyeliners do I need?
Let’s be real, I’m probably going to cave and get them both!
Haha! Keep me posted 😉
I like these. Ever since I watched Lorac’s video with their summer collection, I’ve become obsessed with trying to create a wearable eye look with pinks 🙂
Have you found one? 😀
Oh, I don’t normally wear that much pink on the eye but that is so smooth!
It’s a fun thing to do every once in awhile!
Lollipop is an interesting shade for an eye pencil. I may have to check it out!
It is!
I have Funfare already, which I like a lot, and I can’t really see needing more than one bright pink eyeliner, lol. And I have at least three dupes of Sunset!
lol! I hear ya. I do find the shimmery pinks a little easier to wear than the all-matte ones, though. How do you wear Funfare?
Usually one of two ways: in a fairly thick line along the upper lashes (sometimes flick, sometimes not), and then a thin line of something dark right at the lashes; or a normal size line along the lashes, smudged, with a sheer shimmer/glitter powder shadow dusted over top. UD’s Bobby Dazzle is good for that, or a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash shadow. A rose gold looks good, and then I might smudge a gold liner along the bottom lashes to tie it all together.
Oooh, that sounds really pretty! Thank you for the ideas, El!
These are very pretty. I didn’t relize how close Lollipop is to Woodstock. I guess I can save some $ there.
Yay for your wallet ;D
Sunset is a gorgeous colour – such a beautiful gold, I love it.
It is!
I like the Orange Crush with the Lollipop! Paired with your neutral eye, it shows a way for people who aren’t comfortable with color to incorporate it into a wearable look.
Very true 🙂 My favorite way to wear colored eyeliner!
I love Sunset! It’s my favorite MJ product!
