Well, this looks interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing reviews.
I love the cool tones! I’m just a bit disappointed that cool tones are limited edition.
This is pretty, but I got the Sultry palette in my Beautylish Lucky Bag, so I can easily skip this b/c they are quite similar.
Hooray, a cool-toned palette! After this and Viseart’s Liaison palette, hopefully it’s a sign of things to come in 2019 🙂
Am I the only one who has trouble with those eye liners? Like, I love how thin they are, but I wish the tip was pointed. The fact that they’re rounded and flat makes it difficult to get the shape I want.
Me too! I don’t know if we have old stock in Australia but they just don’t want to apply to my skin, even after warming them up they are patchy and difficult to build. Almost like they’re already dry. I’ve even brought them twice hoping I just got a dud the first time.
I don’t have a problem with the MJ skinny liners, which I use for my upper waterline, but his regular ones – I absolutely LOVE them for about 3 months because they are so smoothly wonderful but in a really short time (especially in light of the price), they dry out and become impossible to use. I recap tightly but still…even my cheap GOSH and Sephora liners stay perfectly smooth for years but not the MJ ones, which is so disappointing. No more “saving them for good” – if I buy one, I endeavor to use it every day so I can use it up before it goes dry and hard.
Yep I have Cinderella a grey one and not a fan.. hard to use not creamy enough. I use the sparkly grey high liner all the time. Love a liner in softer shades black is too harsh for me.
Palette is pretty not sure think I have dupes.
I have the existing burgundy one and like it. Might get the grape color.
Not at all. None of the MJ liners work on me, I just don’t mesh with his formula. Angel says, good thing, too. Devil says, dammit, wanted them in every color. Even ancient crapliners do better than MJ on me.
There is definitely something going on with the skinny liners. I have purchased all of his eyeliners and the only ones that does not perform up to bar are his skinny eyeliners. They do adhere and when it goes on it goes on patchy. Unfortunately, I love the new colors but because of the reasons I explained, I will have to pass on them. I do vouch for all the other MJ products though.
Color me intrigued!
This is a nice little set and the photography is good. She’s intriguing. It has a 90s vibe to it. Nice to see a cool neutral palette for once.
LOL – this “oldster” would say “60’s” rather than 90’s!!!
Hah! I thought 60s, too, with that defined crease, cat eye liner, and pale nude lips.
Well, Rachel, the crease in the photo above is really subtle compared with the one Twiggy (and yours truly – oh, I must have looked like quite a site!) did with black cake eyeliner. You can see it if you google her and and take a look through… What’s funny is that this look was considered “natural” back then (I think because it was the polar opposite of the very “adult” looks of “old people” – coloured lipstick, blue eyeshadow, teased “helmet hair” that would stay in place for a week, til its owner would return to the beauty salon to have her hair washed, set, combed out and lacquered enough to last another 7 days!
I’ve seen pictures of Twiggy and others with the black the black cut crease. I’ve seen ones done in the 60s with blue and green eyeshadows, too. Very cool.
LOL. In the 60’s my mom had a standing appt each Saturday morning for a ‘shampoo & set’. Yep helmet head. And my older sister was into Yardley cosmetics esp the black liquid eyeliner.
For a time, Yardley had a line called Londonderry Hair (shampoos and conditioners) and Jean Shrimpton (“The Shrimp”) was the face of the line and, possibly also the makeup line they launched aimed at teens (I remember buying “Slickers” – lipgloss sticks – some even had a mirror on the side for applying but I remember using it in assemblies or at sports games, sitting with my friends and checking out the boys we liked using that little mirror! – oh the memories!)
Definitely a riff on the 60’s, though the 90’s occasionally also had it’s own version of a riff on the 60’s — borrowed and borrowed again,
Yes. It feels more like 90s throwback to the 60s to me. I think it’s because of the color, versus the thick black cat eye, and because of the cool taupe.
The model is the daughter of Kate Moss, so I can see why it would give 90s associations!
I didn’t know that! Well, that makes even more sense.
The other day I mentioned Pattie Boyd’s “Letter from London” beauty tips waaaay back in the 60’s. Well, this photo could have been used to illustrate that “London Look” from back then – flesh coloured lips, heavy black eyeliner (this was before Twiggy, though, and her painted on lower lashes and really painted black eye crease). And y’know how “they” say that if you wore a trend the first time around (neon fishnet stockings, white vinyl wet look knee high boots), you probably shouldn’t go for it when it makes a return! The palette does look nice, though, but nothing in it that I don’t already have, from what I can see.
Oooh, reminds me of my white vinyl go-go boots! We use to dress up and pretend we were on Hullabaloo. We had a raised fireplace and there were wood boxes on each side. We would get into our vinyl boot, mini skirts, lacquer our hair and my brother would pretend he was playing guitar while my sister and I danced like the go-go dancers on top of the wood boxes. Hadn’t thought about that in years. So much fun. You are right though, if you lived through it once you probably shouldn’t do it again.
With me, it was the paper dress and matching hat. Probably with combat boots! I cannot imagine fishnets with cellulite! Oy, vay.
I was cast as a teenage groupie of a Beatle-esque rock star in a movie. I had one line, “What do you call your haircut, Felix?” Answer was: “Arthur.” I wore a high waisted black and white houndstooth check mini-dress with black pom-pons and fishnet stockings.
Hullabaloo…and Shindig!!! I remember a huge fight with my father when one of those shows was on at the same time as a hockey game he wanted to watch. We only had 1 television set (I think most families in that time only had 1) and I sulked and had a teenaged tantrum, complete with muttering about how unfair it all was and slamming doors!
Oh yeah, God forbid papa couldn’t watch hockey. LOL My late father followed Montreal Canadians so if a game was on French channel that was on.
This palette looks fantastic – having such a cool tone range. Love it.
This palette looks different from the other promo pic MJ put out into the cyersphere. But either way, this will hopefully be a fabulous option for all those patiently waiting for more high quality cool-tone e/s palettes!
Me? I’m looking at that (Dove) Affair Highliner Pencil!
It looks a bit warmer and more lavender in some of the pictures I’ve seen.
That palette looks soooo pretty… I may want it!
I really like the liner used in the promo photo. I don’t feel excited over the palette. Good for my low buy. 🙂
Love the vibe of this collection and the fact that it appears to be very cool toned. It is a lot of money so would have to be stellar for me to even consider it. Also, don’t love the crusty look of the models inner mouth rim which was always a problem back in the day when we had to white out our lips with foundation/concealer and then apply gloss or a very white based lipstick. You had to carry your foundation or concealer with you to do touch ups during the day. Look never worked for me but at the time I thought I looked hot, LOL!!
This is a really pretty palette which if it is as cool as it swatches will be a no-no for me.
I do like MJ’s eyeshadow formula, however. I have 3 Eyecon palettes and the quality of the formula stands out for being easy to blend and long lasting.
That said, I do not care for his gel eyeliner pencils – be them the “skinny” version vs the original size. For me, there too much drag on the eye to apply & they dry out quickly. The tip falls out of the pencil all the time. They are just a “no win” product for me.
Marc Jacobs skin care is ok too.
Oy, I quite like the fineliner formula so I will probably be grabbing some of the groovy new colours. Mel Thompson has sold me on the Milk pencil formula though for black tightlining though as it is grippier, thicker, and better pigmented. Still, I like these for their ability to get right into the lash line and their better colour range.
This palette looks gorgeous to me! I will wait for Christine’s review but man, I am tempted to order it right now…
Yes, please.
These are totally my colors! Of course, that also means I probably have a dupe of each of them.
YAS!
Oh, I really REALLY like those fineliner colors. How are they used that’s different to the highliners? They’re just thinner eye liners?
My very favorite look is when the 90s did the 60s. This is all right up my alley!
What a gorgeous palette! However, I’ll check to see if I have dupes first …
Has anyone got any idea when this collection will be launched in the UK, fairly chomping at the bit to get these!
