Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) Lust for Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

Marc Jacobs Beauty Shooting Stars (316) Lust for Lacquer ($28.00 for 0.16 fl. oz.) is described as a “berry mauve with shimmer.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brick red-plum with pink shimmer and subtle sparkle. It had warm undertones. I actually found this type of color hard to dupe in gloss-form, particularly because of the coverage of this one. Maybelline Almond Aura (130) (LE) is lighter, less red/plum. Bobbi Brown Uber Suede (P, $24.00) is browner. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This was part of a 1,000-point Sephora offering, but it is being added to the full range. Right now, there’s early access to it direct from Marc Jacobs Beauty, but Sephora has it listed (along with another new shade, Satisfaction) as coming soon. It’s part of the full-coverage portion of the formula, and it did, indeed, have full, opaque color coverage. The consistency was lightweight, smooth, and comfortable to wear with a lightly hydrating formula. This shade wore well for five hours on me, and it was non-sticky (except by the very last hour, it was very slightly tacky) with a sweet mint scent.

Hi Christine,

The Marc Jacobs link is broken (and looking at the shade range, I can’t find it). Other than than, can you photograph the ingredient list? I can’t find it anywhere…

Thanks for the great work, as always!

I have this (along with the lipstick) and I love them both. Full coverage lipglosses make me nervous though. I’m a big lip smacker/rubber so lipsticks come off on me a lot quicker and unevenly. Glosses are even worse. I haven’t had a chance to wear this out so I’m curious as to how it will hold up on me. I need to find a way to keep my mouth shut!

I ordered this and the lipstick as part of the 1000 point VIB bonus from Sephora. The colors are beautiful. Just not for me.if I wore colors this deep I really would have loved them. But, I gave them away. I hope more opaque colors do come out in the Marc Jacobs collection.

I don’t think it’s a colour for me. It suits you well, Christine.
I would love to try it, but Marc Jacobs cosmetics aren’t readily available here, unfortunately. Could be a good thing for the wallet, though 🙂
I love the sutle shimmer in this, very pretty.
