Makeup Geek Twilight Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “pale shimmery muted purple.” It’s a soft, pinky-mauve with subtle warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good color payoff, and the texture was soft without being powdery. I saw very faint signs of fading after eight hours of wear. theBalm Just This Once Jamie (P, $16.00) is a touch darker. MAC Performance Art (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Daylight (LE, $21.00) is pinker. See comparison swatches.

Sensuous Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “shimmery purple with flecks of silver.” It’s a medium-dark plummy purple with warm, brown udnertones and a frosted finish. It had nice pigmentation, and the texture was soft and blendable, though it felt a smidgen dry–like it didn’t bind together as smoothly as other shades, but it was still rather easy to work with. I saw very faint signs of fading after eight hours of wear. MAC Universal Appeal (LE, $21.00) is somewhat lighter. Giorgio Armani #27 (LE, $33.00) is cooler-toned. Le Metier de Beaute Fig (P, $30.00) is more intense. See comparison swatches.

Last Dance Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “medium to deep plummy brown [with a satin finish].” It’s a medium-dark plum with warm undertones and a soft, frosted finish. It had good pigmentation and applied smoothly. I saw very faint signs of fading after eight hours of wear. Too Faced Sugar Plum (LE) is cooler-toned. MAC Smoky Mauve (LE, $21.00) is more metallic. MAC Universal Appeal (LE, $21.00) is more metallic. MAC Trax (P, $15.00) is less frosted. MAC Star Violet (P, $15.00) is warmer, more frosted. Lancome Colour du Jour (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Harmonie du Soir #3 (LE) is lighter. See comparison swatches.

Drama Queen Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “densely dark purple with a shimmery finish.” It’s a deepened plummy purple with burgundy micro-shimmer and a frost finish. It had rich, opaque color payoff, and the texture was soft and smooth. It is more muted than Last Dance and has a less frosted finish. I saw very faint signs of fading after eight hours of wear. LORAC Deep Purple (P) is slightly more muted. Fyrinnae Alchemist’s Curse (P, $6.80) is lighter. Illamasqua Queen of the Night (LE) is lighter. MAC Young Punk (P, $21.00) is darker, purpler. Giorgio Armani #3 (P, $33.00) is darker, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

I absolutely LOVE makeup geek eyeshadows! So many dupes for MAC and half the price.. I’m about to place my third order with them after seeing all of your swatches and reviews of ones I don’t have yet! Thanks Christine!

Twilight is my favorite MakeupGeek eyeshadow, but then again I just loved muted purples!

I also like Prom Night (which may just be a cooler version of Twilight), Unexpected, Unicorn, Taupe Notch, Espresso, Corrupt & White Lies. There’s so many nice colors – it’s hard to narrow down! 🙂

I absolutely LOVE these colors! I think I’m going to make an eyeshadow purchase around my birthday with some birthday money I get. All four of these are going on my list for sure!

i think i’m in love with drama queen! i love how you applied it so sheerly. i’ve been hearing nothing but good things about her shadows recently and i think i’m FINALLY gonna pick some up next payday:)

I’m just getting into these shadows and I’m very happy so far. This review makes me want to add to my purples! My favorite to date is Cosmopolitan; I felt pretty all day when I did a look with it last week. It has some shimmer without making my 30-something eyes look silly. Today I’m wearing a super neutral look with Beaches and Cream on the lid, Taupe Notch in the crease, and Shimma Shimma as a highlight. (I’m very fair.) They all blend perfectly, and I’m 6+ hours into wear with no signs of fading or creasing. (Shout out to NARS primer, too.)

Oooh, I want all of these! I can’t believe I haven’t tried any Makeup Geek eyeshadows yet.

Now I just need to decide whether to order a bunch of MUG shadows to put in a large Z-palette first or if I should wait until I have made my second Inglot 40-palette.

I had to dig so deep into my brain now. I even went to google, but realized you weren’t talking about “Biohazard Female Cannon Master”, lol.

I haven’t even thought about BF or CM since we don’t have those here. I guess I should wait a bit before I place an order then!

Hi Christine, great review! I went crazy and got 30 MUG eyeshadows earlier in the year (I’m in NZ, makeup is so expensive here – shopping on MUG makes makeup shopping really affordable). My favourites are all the neutrals: Crease colours – Latte and Cocoa Bear are my two favourites – Cocoa bear is similar to Mac’s Swiss Chocolate. I love Vanilla Bean as a brow highlight. For the outer corner you can’t go past Bada Bing. Also the black shadow, Corrupt, is the blackest eyeshadow I’ve ever seen amazing! The quality of these shadows is phenomenal, I adore them.
Thanks for doing such amazing reviews, I often check out your page, I just never comment (until now). Lou 🙂

Hi
Prom Night, Peach Smoothie, Hipster, Homecoming and Envy. There’s a few pigments I want, but they are clearly the popular ones as they seem to be continually out of stock! Oh well, I’ll hang in there!

I don’t want to buy yet more when I’m moving in a few months. I had been eyeing these specific shades for some time and this is tempting me. But I’m going to have to be good and wait, give me strength!
