Makeup Geek Duchess Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “matte cool purple.” It’s a medium-dark, muted purple with cool undertones and a mostly matte finish–you can see a sprinkling of micro-shimmer at times, but it’s not apparent on the lid. It had fairly good color payoff, and the texture was soft, not powdery, and easy to blend out on the skin. It lasted eight full hours on me before showing signs of fading. Disney by Sephora Mystical Wonder (LE) is shimmery, lighter. MAC Illegal Cargo (LE, $15.00) is similar from I can tell, but it’s so sheer it’s hard to say 100%! Inglot #379 (P, $6.00) is a bit brighter. See comparison swatches.

Envy Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “deep metallic green.” It’s a darkened, forest green with cool undertones and a soft, pearly finish. It had so-so pigmentation–the texture was on the drier side, so the color payoff wasn’t as intense as you’d expect. It can be layered and patted on for better coverage. It wore almost eight hours before showing signs of fading. Urban Decay Damaged (LE, $18.00) is very similar. MAC Dark Indulgence (LE, $21.00) is greener/richer. Make Up For Ever #80 (P, $20.00) is lighter. Inglot #414 (P, $6.00) is a touch warmer, more frosted. See comparison swatches.

Galaxy Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “metallic gunmetal.” It’s a dark, charcoal gray with a frosted sheen. It had excellent color payoff, and the texture was soft, dense, and buttery. It blended beautifully when applied to the skin. It wore well for a full eight hours before it showed signs of wearing away. Makeup Geek Prince Charming (P, $6.99) is lighter. NARS Bad Behaviour (LE, $24.00) is similar. Kat Von D Piaf (LE) is cooler-toned. MAC Deep Cravings (LE, $15.00) is darker. LORAC Slate (P) is bluer-tinged. MAC Diesel (LE, $15.00) is similar. Urban Decay Asphalt (LE, $18.00) is slightly darker. Giorgio Armani #21 (LE, $33.00) is similar, slightly cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

Duchess looks lovely, especially for a purple! I love purple because I have hazel eyes, but finding a decent one…gah!

MUG eyeshadows seem to be great quality for the price! Duchess is so pretty! I need to start ordering my pans from her rather than keep buying singles I have to depot from other brands

My eyes absolutely lit up when I saw this review!! I’m just starting my eyeshadow collection and I have about 12 Makeup Geek shadows (mostly neutrals). I’m trying to venture out and buy more colorful shades. I’ve been eyeing Envy for a while but have been reluctant to get it since some reviewers says it looks more black instead of green on the eye. How do you think it compares to Urban Decay’s Loaded in terms of color and quality?

I think it has enough green in it that it doesn’t just look straight-up black! Loaded has a better texture and more color payoff, but it is also slightly more blue-based.

Do you know if Envy is lip-safe?? It could be a dupe for a Lime Crime lip gloss I’ve been after for a while (but I don’t want to support LC)

I always hear about these Make Up Geek eyeshadows and how they compare to Mac. However, there is no store where I live in BC, Canada. Is it an online store? Is it worthwhile to get it because I’m so curious!

Wow, my pan of Envy comes off as MUCH more pigmented than this. It’s a really rich, intense blackened green. I wonder why yours looks kinda substandard to the quality of mine?
