Makeup Geek Daybreak Highlighter Review, Photos, Swatches

Daybreak

Makeup Geek Daybreak Highlighter ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a light-medium peachy orange with warm, yellow undertones and a luminous sheen. This had a nearly metallic sheen, but it was very smooth and reflective without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture or the look of my pores (I was rather surprised!). A little went a long way, so I would recommend using a fan brush to get a sheen without blinding everyone near you!

According to Makeup Geek, the formula is supposed to be “super-smooth” and “incredibly pigmented.” The highlighter was richly pigmented with full, opaque coverage. It had a soft, smooth, denser texture that wasn’t powdery but was soft enough to allow a highlighting brush to easily pick up the product. It blended out easily across the skin, and while it can be quite intense, I was able to sheer and buff it out to something more subtle, if desired. This shade wore well for eight hours on me before fading.

Formula Overview

$20.00/0.25 oz. - $80.00 Per Ounce

According to Makeup Geek, the formula is supposed to be “super-smooth” and “incredibly pigmented.” The majority of the range is beautifully done with smooth, slightly denser textures that are blendable and easy to work with. They have good pigmentation, though some shades are more buildable than "incredibly pigmented." Most shades lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! I am completely out of control with buying blushes – I am embarrassing myself. : ( I like this though and will probably give it a go with a light hand. I have to stop this.

OK, now I’m seriously embarrassed. I swear I read the entirety of the description of the new format for the site, I really did. But I can’t find the look breakdown information that you used to put at the end of each review *or* the link you used to have to some of the looks, which was usually below the pictures of the looks…

Did you get rid of this information, or am I blind? Otherwise, the new layout is very crisp and clean; it clearly reflects a ton of effort on everyone’s part.

Hi Emily,

In this instance, it’s just because of my stupidity – I forgot to add the look to this post. The breakdown is below the post (it is no longer in the sidebar on any device).

love the new site layout! it’s so cool that we can see rotating thumbnails of the pictures at the top of the post and that the top dupes are organized in list-form!
