Makeup Geek Corrupt Eyeshadow
Makeup Geek Corrupt Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as an “intense matte black with very subtle sparkle.” It’s a deep, dark, intense black with a mostly matte finish–there is a very, very fine multi-colored sparkle, but it’s really not visible when you apply and blend out the product. It had nice pigmentation, and it wore well for eight and a half hours. Wet ‘n’ Wild Three’s a Party #3 (LE) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Mod #2 (P) is more shimmery. MAC Smokeluxe #5 (P) is similar. theBalm Serious (P, $16.00) is totally matte. Sugarpill Bulletproof (P, $12.00) is fully matte. Urban Decay Blackout (P, $18.00) is also fully matte. NARS Night Breed (LE, $24.00) has more sparkle. MAC Carbon (P, $15.00) is all matte, warmer in tone. Illamasqua Zeitgeist (P, $25.50) is more shimmery. Giorgio Armani #13 (P, $33.00) is less matte. Make Up For Ever #04 (P, $20.00) has no sparkle/shimmer at all. See comparison swatches.
Country Girl Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “shimmery pink brown.” It’s a medium, rose-tinged brown with warm, orange undertones and a soft, pearly sheen. It wore well for eight hours. NARS Naiade (P) is browner. theBalm C4 (LE, $16.00) is browner. MAC Glimpse of Flesh (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Exposed (LE, $15.00) is a touch darker. Guerlain Turandot #2 (LE) is very similar. See comparison swatches.
Dirty Martini Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “matte olive green.” It’s a muted, medium-dark olive green with a matte finish and subtle warm undertones. It had fairly good color payoff, while the texture was soft and blendable. This shade lasted eight hours on me. theBalm D4 (LE, $16.00) is slightly darker. NARS Mozambique (P, $25.00) is a cream product. Burberry Khaki (08) (P) is browner. Make Up For Ever #47 (P, $20.00) is richer. See comparison swatches.

Corrupt is stunning!
It is! 🙂
I need Country Girl in my life! It’s crease heaven!
Great idea!
I really don’t need any more pitch black eyeshadow, and yet I feel really drawn to corrupt 🙂
It is hard to resist!
Wow that black looks very good!
It’s really intense!
Hey Christine, was just wondering why is country girl recommended by you! Is there anything outstanding that pushes it to a ‘must-buy’? or is it just for its lovely color( not that that isnt enough justification!)
xx
It’s a more unique shade and very versatile, plus it’s high quality 🙂 Recommendations are usually based on a mix of 1) quality, 2) originality/uniqueness, 3) versatility, 4) how impressive it was overall!
Country Girl & Dirty Martini look so nice! Country Girl is especially my type of shade.
It’s such a great shade for neutral looks!
I like Country Girl, it’s really pretty! It will be added to my hypothetical Makeup Geek palette haha…
Maybe one day it’ll be a reality! 🙂
I bought Corrupt and while I find that it’s a nice very pigmented black it’s so powdery at the same time! When I pick it up with either a flat or fluffy brush, it kicks up so much product it ruins my entire Z palette with black powder all over my other eyeshadows. Do u find this as well Christine or is it just me?
Nope, I don’t have that problem!
I can tell you that I have that problem as well. It’s my blackest eyeshadow that I own (even compared to UD Blackout and MAC Carbon) and I love it, but it makes such a mess. I’m constantly having to clean up the other shadows in my palette. 🙁
Really wanting to experiment with Dirty Martini! I don’t remember ever seeing a green quite like it.
There aren’t too many like it that I’ve seen!
Country girl is really pretty, want something as an all-over shadow, flesh-toned with a bit warmth, and this might just fit.
I think it would definitely work depending on your skin tone!
Christine, do these inserts fit in the Mac E/S palette?
Yes!
I’ve got all 3 of these, plus a bunch more, and love 95% of them. I’ve had no problem with Corrupt messing up my Z Pallete, even when I’ve knocked it around. Just don’t jam your brush into it. You barely need to touch it to get enough pigment on your brush because it’s so intense.
I would really love to see you do a look with these, Christine! I’m totally seeing these in a quad with a highlight color. Country Girl is so pretty!
