Mauve Glow
Makeup by Mario Mauve Glow MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum ($22.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium-dark, plummy brown with muted, neutral-to-warm undertones and fine pearl throughout a glossy, cream finish. It had medium coverage, which was somewhat buildable to semi-opaque coverage.
The texture was lightweight, very creamy and emollient, and easy to over-apply as it did, in fact, melt as marketed. The product applied evenly across my lips and smoothed out some of my lip lines. Due to having allergic reactions in the past from lip plumping products (and I didn’t realize this formula was actually going to plump with ingredients vs. glossy finish), I only tested two shades, but they were consistent in wearing around four hours on me and feeling non-drying over time.

Formula Overview
$22.00/0.08 oz. - $275.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "serum texture" that "melts onto lips" that "plumps, nourishes, and hydrates." The formula is very soft and already melted before it gets close to the lips, so using a light hand when applying is key to avoiding the product breaking up against the edge of the tube or coming away in larger sections. It was also critical to only click up the smallest amount as it was very easy to nick and smudge product when putting the cap back on.
The consistency was moderately emollient with decent slip, so it was not a particularly long-wearing product (three to four hours), but it was comfortable to wear and wasn't as prone to settling into my lip lines as one might have expected. The formula itself is very cooling and minty with a noticeable cooling, plumping effect that goes on for 45 to 60 minutes.
They had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage, depending on the shade, though the brand described them as "sheer'" but their swatches looked more medium/semi-opaque coverage.
I did not find they were hydrating over time, but it is possible that is due to having issues with some plumping products in the past. These had a strong mint scent but no discernible taste.
Note: As I have had poor reactions to plumping products in the past, so I only tested two of the seven shades for wear as past experiences have resulted in allergic reactions that can take weeks to resolve. I purchased these not realizing they meant actually plumping rather than the illusion of plumper lips from the glossy finish.

Mocha Glow
Makeup by Mario Mocha Glow MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum ($22.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium-dark brown with subtle, warm undertones and fine gold pearl throughout a glossy, cream finish. It had a smooth, creamy consistency with lots of slip that melted like butter against my lips. It had medium, buildable pigmentation that applied evenly and didn’t seem to emphasize my my lip lines.

Plum Glow
Makeup by Mario Plum Glow MoistureGlow Plumping Lip Serum ($22.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a medium-dark reddish-plum with subtle, warm undertones and multi-colored pearl throughout a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, as marketed, that applied fairly evenly but settled noticeably in my my lip lines.
The texture was lightweight but very emollient and prone to melting against my lips to a degree that made it difficult to apply it with precision. This was one of two shades I tested for wear (due to the plumping factor, which I did not anticipate, and I have had allergic reactions to past lip plumping products), and it lasted for four hours and felt non-drying after I removed it. The cooling, minty plumping feel lasted for almost an hour.

I knew that I would love Mocha Glow, and I definitely do want to get that shade in particular. So far, Mocha and Rosy have me won over. Too bad that Plum wasn’t better, because it is such a gorgeous tone! Might still get it, but use it over a heavy duty lip liner like Nyx Plum or Prune.
Not quite a fan of lip plumping products myself – but these do look to be good and in a variety of wearable shades.
I also meant to say that I hope you didn’t get any allergic reactions to these…with the issues with your hand, it would be the last thing you need!
Of course, I love Plum Glow. I don’t love the sound of the formula because I am a lip worrier and likely would eat it off in 15 minutes. I am not sure I have ever used a lip plumping lipstick that I saw any actual lip plumping from and have pretty much just assumed it was hype. Put a little mint and give the tingle and you will think your lips are plumper. Maybe it is in my definition of plumping. Since my upper lip is non-existent, that is where I look for plumping and never see any but it may just be that it plumps in the sense that it reduces lip lines rather than increase size? !!
I bought the Plum Glow as soon as it became available. I was a little apprehensive at first, because I’ve also had allergic reactions to plumping ingredients, but I decided to take a chance, based on the gorgeous colors, and the supposed moisturizing properties.
I received it, tried it, and am not happy with it. I had no allergic reactions, but it over applied way too easily, making for a smeared mess (even pushing it into place with a fingertip didn’t help), and it wound up severely drying and chapping my lips. I didn’t have the opportunity to return it, but I would have, and I certainly won’t use or reccomend it to anyone. A huge waste for me.
I wonder how these compare to the Charlotte Tilbury hyaluranic happykiss lipstick balm. I love those but they are expensive and these come in at $10 less 🙂
These look so juicy and wonderful for a chronically dry-lipped person like me. I really enjoy lip plumpers – even (especially) the ones that burn your face off – and I’m curious if this one plumps your lips via burning (toofaced), minty tingle (buxom), or a moisture boost (like grandelips or maybelline lifter gloss).
