H108
Make Up For Ever H108 Artist Face Color ($23.00 for 0.17 oz.) light yellow with a semi-matte finish. The color applied lighter than it appeared in the tube and with a stronger, truer yellow tone. It would likely be used more like banana powder, which can be used as a setting powder or to neutralize dark under eye circles.
I think if you want it for setting, you’d be better off with traditional loose banana powder, as the texture was dense and smooth but just doesn’t feel like the right type of texture to adequately set without going back for a lot of product. It might work for someone who only sets key areas, though, as it does allow for precision. I liked it for setting under eye concealer, and for the purposes of photos, I applied it more as a highlighter on my cheeks, and I thought it brightened nicely (but I am warmer-toned). It had excellent pigmentation with consistency that blended well but would be best used with a moderately dense brush. The color lasted well for eight and a half hours on me.
Overview of the Formula
The formula is supposed to have “intense color payoff” with a “long-lasting finish.” The range is split into three types–Highlighters, Sculpting Powders, and Blushes–that is easy to determine by the first letter of the shade name (H for Highlighter, S for Sculpting, and B for Blush). There are three finishes–matte, shimmer, and pearl but was less obvious. In fact, the majority of the “matte” shades were more like semi-matte or natural matte where there were no distinctive shimmer particles but they seemed to take on the natural finish of the skin, which gave the “mattes” a particularly seamless finish on the skin but might be dewier on oilier skin types than desired. None of the 34 shades available were frosted or metallic except three of the highlighters (H100, H106, H312).
The pigmentation ranged from medium to opaque, depending largely on the shade, though they were always buildable if they were not opaque in a single layer. Some of the deeper, more matte shades were less forgiving and took more effort to diffuse and blend, even when I used a lighter hand or a more feathery brush. The texture was smooth, velvety, and moderately dense without any powderiness or dustiness in the pan. The formula has lasted between eight and ten hours on me.

As someone very yellow, I’m always on the look out for yellow face powders, so naturally ill want to check this one out. I do wish they had something like this but a shade lighter though. Like in between this and Hourglass Difused Light would probably be perfect for me.

Nice. I use the ABH pressed powder equivalent currently (just ordered a refill), but I think it’s a little lighter than this (and seems perfectly matte to me). I really like these yellow powders; maybe I’ll give this one a try (I’ll need to swatch it in the store to see if “semi-matte” works for me).

In its favor, it DOES have great quality and pigmentation! But for the purpose I’d be using it for, I really do prefer either a loose banana powder, or one that is more veil like in coverage. I don’t like to have it appear obvious that something is there, y’know?
I can definitely see where a loose or more powdery pressed powder would work better!
I have yellow undertones, but wow, this looks really yellow! Hmmm, curious if it might work for my undereyes, will need to swatch in store
