Make Up For Ever Fearless Valentine, Lovely Leather, Burning Clay Rouge Artist Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Fearless Valentine (110)
Make Up For Ever Fearless Valentine (110) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is light, rosy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly and comfortably across my lips.
The texture was lightweight, thin but not clingy, smooth, and had just enough creaminess to go on well but not slide around during wear. It wore nicely for four and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview
$23.00/0.11 oz. - $209.09 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to "blur, smooth, and hydrate" with "intensity of a matte and the comfort of a cream" and delivers "ultra-pigment[ation]." The consistency reminded me of the more new-school "matte" formulas that feel velvety without wetness/shine--the ones that feel more silicone-heavy and primer-like, which are often thinner, too. I'd say that the new Rouge Artist formula has a little more traditional creaminess, so there was a satin shine (which was as marketed--satin finish!).
The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and thin without feeling clingy. In the close-up photos, there were several shades that looked like there were little bits scattered on my lips, almost like it had pilled, though I didn't feel it when I pressed my lips together and couldn't see it in person.
They had mostly opaque to opaque color coverage in a single layer. Most shades applied evenly and sat well enough on my lips, though there were some that emphasized my lip lines slightly. They wore for four to six hours on me with some of the very rich, deeper shades lasting a little longer than that. The formula felt mostly non-drying to lightly hydrating to me.
There was a sweet, slightly floral scent that was noticeable on for the first few minutes, but I didn't notice any taste.

Lovely Leather (114)
Make Up For Ever Lovely Leather (114) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a muted, light-medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage paired with a lightly creamy consistency that was thin, more velvety than emollient, and comfortable to apply and to wear.
The product settled slightly into my deeper lip lines in the close-up photo but wasn’t noticeable in person. It stayed on well for four and a half hours and felt lightly moisturizing over time.

Burning Clay (118)
Make Up For Ever Burning Clay (118) Rouge Artist Lipstick (2020) ($23.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a darker, coppery-red with subtle, warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which built up slightly but didn’t build up evenly or as intensely along the inner area of my lips.
This may have been due to the texture being on the thinner side with moderate slip, so building up pushed the color around more than it layered it up. This shade lasted well for four and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating while worn.

Fearless Valentine and Lovely Leather are quite similar and I love both. I’ve been keeping my eye out for an inexpensive lipstick to go matchy matchy with MAC devoted to chili eyeshadow and I think Fearless slighly edges out lovely leather.
Burning Clay is my kind of shade – just love that colour.
Both Lovely Leather and Fearless Valentine are exactly my type of shades, which is exactly why I know that I don’t need either one…yet!
