Make Up For Ever #53 Aqua Cream Review, Photos, Swatches

Make Up For Ever #53 Aqua Cream
Make Up For Ever #53 Aqua Cream

Make Up For Ever #53 Aqua Cream ($23.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “pale green shimmer.” It’s a soft, sea foam green with cool undertones and a pale golden shimmer that gives it a frosted finish. Sugarpill Lumi is similar but more translucent. Lancome Fashion Forward is a touch lighter. Fyinnae Jade Ghost is warmer.

The consistency is lightweight, creamy, not too thick or too thin, and can be applied as a sheer wash or layered for more opaque color. It dries down quickly (between fifteen and thirty seconds), so I recommend working quickly and blending any edges as you go to avoid it becoming unmovable! Once it dries down, it isn’t going to go anywhere (I tested it for twelve hours); no smudging, budging, or creasing from there on.

It may appear that way in the pot, but they are very different. Icy Mint doesn’t have the frost finish. To me, it’s nearly matte. Icy Mint is darker.

I’m wondering if the quality is better too. I found the maybelline one to apply really poorly. I would love it if this layered easily.

I like this one a lot! I’d buy all three shades just for the sake of recreating the look that you did, Christine. 😀

I went to Sephora yesterday with the intention on picking this up as well as the eyeliner. I ended up passing on this shade and got the darker green instead. This was way too frosty on my NC45 skin.

I’ve been looking for dupes of Stila’s new LE Turquoise Smudge Stick, and this looks closest, but of course it is LE too. I’ll probably pick it up anyways since I love this colour.

Christine, how difficult is it to blend eyeshadow on top of the Aqua Cream after it’s dried? Does the shadow tend to “stick” in the same place you apply on the AC or is it easy to blend the shadow applied over it? (using the Aqua Cream as an all over base on the eye) I hope this question makes sense!

Love this. Picked it up yesterday and its beautiful on my nc45 skin. It’s really beautiful with the soft greens and taupes that I own.

I added it to my shopping list to buy a bit later. And it definitely says it is out of stock! I wish I hadn’t waited! I have to have this color!
