Make Up For Ever #302 Holodiam Powder Review, Photos, Swatches

Not Everything is How It Appears

Make Up For Ever #302 Holodiam Powder ($25.00 for 0.035 oz.) is described as “plum with pink, purple, and turquoise highlights.” Alone, it has a strong reddish copper base with flecks of pink and teal sparkle. When I layered it over a black eyeliner, it appeared as a blue-teal. Ultimately, how it looks and what color comes out depends on the base, so it will take on different characteristics over different colored bases as well as with different viewing angles.

Because of its duo- (or triple) chrome finish, it’s a very versatile product.  It’s described as an “extremely fine loose powder with a pearlescent finish.”  Make Up For Ever recommends it for use on eyes and cheeks and used dry for a softer effect and wet for something more intense.  They do advise using some sort of setting/fixing spray or sealer.  It is a very fine micro-glitter; it feels larger than shimmer or powder (more texture than the Star Powders but finer than traditional glitter).

I think you need to check Fyrinnae for dupes–I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but they do very finely-milled loose shadows in duo-triple-chrome finishes. And Fyrinnae shadows run between 2.50 and 6.50 (I think) for colors…so probably worth your time to check! My immediate thought, when I saw these powders in Sephora, was that Fyrinnae has been doing shadows/layering products like this for years, with exceptional quality.

That’s… odd. Mine doesn’t look that reddish at all. It’s definitely a plum. It seems weird that there would be batch variation in such a mainstream company, but mine looks markedly different from that.

Out of sheer curiosity, and if you don’t mind me asking, how come these two MUFE products don’t have grades? I know you don’t for perfume or skin care, but I don’t recall any makeup products being outside the grading system. 🙂

This is such a beautiful product! When I saw it in person I was in total awe, LOL! I paired over MAC’s Blue Brown Pigment & it was just amazing! Compliments were endless no lie! I’m going to be pairing it over MAC’s Club shadow and will try it over Burberry’ Mulberry too. Try this ladies u won’t regret it 😉

How is this one comparable with “Glampire” from Too Faced??! I saw this at Sephora and skipped, because I thought It looks like it.. But I’m not sure.

Aww man, I was hoping you would have it for a comparison! I discovered Glampire because of Tiffany D. She used it in a fall tutorial last year, and I just fell in love with it. I just googled it and the pictures of Tiffany D wearing it comes out first. I really think it looks just like it!! 🙂

I am a huge Makeup for ever fan but this product is not one of their best. Is very hard to blend and it goes everywhere on your face. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and try it with different primers and setting solutions but and the end it did not delivered for me. I wanted it to work out soooo bad because the colors are beautiful but sadly i had to take back. I love theire star powders and 24M is a redish brown with green pearl very similar to Holodiam #302.

I used this over UD Covet 24/7 pencil applied all over my lid as a shadow and wow, I got tons of compliments. I applied it dry and just patted it on and it stayed all day without any fallout. I was super impressed. The only thing I don’t like about it is the price tag. But the tiny container will last quite sometime because of the super tiny amount you use.
