OMG im sooo exited for the sculpting powder, i dont like that mac sells it just in the pan and you have to buy the palette to put it, btw does anyone know which powder is better for countouring, the mac sculpt or benefit hoola?? Im nc25

I was really excited about this collection until I saw the packaging. It is just a black blob with Maleficent written across it, not to mention most of the products are permanent. Is this a joke ?

Kristi Avatar

It says that both the alluring aqua and this collection are supposed to pop up online on the same day-May 15th. Any thinking that mac will push one of them back? (I’m hoping since I’ll be on vacation and will need to figure out how to order the alluring aqua collection!! Also, any thoughts about how to do that?? Lol)

Codename Duchess Avatar

This was my thought too. I’m equally crushed and relieved that they didn’t repromote it. Crushed because I didn’t get to try it when it was available, but relieved that I don’t have to stress about update stalking for this collection after all.

Shana Avatar

This one is a complete skip. I might have got something just for the packaging….except the packaging looks awful and the logo inexplicably looks like Batman. How are wings even significant to Maleficent?

Laurianna Avatar

This may help with the wings questions, but SPOILER ALERT!

I saw a preview for Maleficent and there was a hint that someone took her wings, or that she had wings at one point. So I thing there may be some serious significance placed on wings to her.

Clare Avatar

The silhouette also looks very like Animated Disney Maleficent’s big pose when she disappears from the castle in green and black fire.

Speaking of, I’m surprised there’s no green in this collection. Maybe Live Action Maleficent’s magic looks different?

Here you go!

Maleficent Eyeshadow Quad ($44.00 U.S. / $52.50 CDN) (Limited Edition)

Ground Brown Dirty deep brown (Matte) (Permanent)
Concrete Muted taupe brown (Satin) (Permanent)
Carbon Intense black (Matte) (Permanent)
Goldmine Intense gold with shimmer (Permanent)

Georgie Avatar

I hope the quad is better quality than MAC’s usual limited edition ones. Not usually much of an eyeshadow girl but this one has 4 shades I would definitely use – I might be converted. Though only if it gets above a B.

Lauren Avatar

I might pick up the lipstick for the packaging (and you can’t go wrong with a good red) but nothing else is really standing out to me! I’ll have to wait to see swatches and stuff to see if there’s anything else I might go for.

Veronica Avatar

I don’t even care how terrible it all is, just give me all of it. *crosses fingers that it won’t sell it out in five minutes*

Michaela Avatar

Even though maleficent is my fave I’m probably going to pass on this collection. I really loved the Maleficent stuff I got from the Disney Villains collection, but none of this is calling my name! It seems like there are a lot of re-promotes in this collection.

Michaela Avatar

I would easily re-buy her stuff from the Venomous Villains collection! I’ve got the lip gloss and one of the blushes, I’m kicking myself that I didn’t get more now!

Carissa Avatar

You’d think they’d place her iconic horns as the “logo”, since it’s more iconic. Personally not feeling the yellow, did they just throw that in for Summer?

LU Avatar

Nothing really exciting, maybe the lipstick since I’m building up my collection of reds and I like the amplified finish.

Clare Avatar

I’m so disappointed by this, mostly because I was expecting it to be comparable to the Maleficent from Venomous Villains 🙁 was really hoping for Dark Deed to make a comeback, it’s my favourite!

Jax Avatar

So disappointed 🙁
I was hoping we might finally get a really good cool toned collection, and maybe even a dupe for Chanel Notorious give Angelina’s coloring and the films promotional pictures. It would also have made a nice counterpoint to the warm early summer collections.

But no, a crappy quad, uninspiring lip products, mostly permanent colors, bad packaging.

They really could have done better.

Julie B. Avatar

i really hope the movie is much more exciting than this collection. i mean, it isn’t bad, but surely disappointing. maleficent is my favorite villain, and i’m pretty sure she deserved better than that.

Stephanie Avatar

This collection is a mess. very disappointing. nothing inspriring here. total fail and a huge missed opportunity for MAC.

dayna Avatar

I’m very disappointed with this collection honestly. The only thing I’ll buy is the lipstick. Nothing else I care for.

Kris Avatar

The lipstick only for me, I think. Maybe the lipgloss too, the rest is permanent stuff in different packaging.. not even decent packaging. Nope, this is a fail! They could’ve done a lot more with this collab.

Ellen Avatar

Can’t wait to get Sculpt in individual packaging, I have a huge blush palette with inserts just to house the one I bought online!!! How many should I get? One for travel, one for pocketbook, one for bathroom, and two for storage? I got two Taupe Shape blushes before they were discontinued, but I like Sculpt much better as a contour. I also love the look of the Beauty powder. Looks like Nars’ Sex Appeal blush, wihich I returned because it was too light (unusual for me), but that was before use as a highlighter ever ocurred to me. I still don’t have a highlighting product that I can use correctly. I have MAC’s highlighter in the rose color, but owning a peach one may be fun too, I use them as correctors for the under eye area, and then pop some under the brow and cupid’s bow. I haven’t been excited about a MAC release in a long time, this one may look silly, but has some real HG products! I also saw on the Mac website that they added more shades to the amazing Mineralize Moisturizing SPF15 Foundation. Finallly pale shades with cool undertones: NW 13,15 and 18! Would love to see swatches! I’m excited about MAC again, thanks for the head’s up!

AbigailOD Avatar

I can make room for another red lipstick!

Of note, I wish the packaging would have been more… mysterious or dark and a better logo maybe? I would have been happy with just Maleficent somewhere on the products and either a matte metal look/feel on the packaging would have been nice.

BENNevolent Avatar

I just placed my order and honestly I was contemplating getting a few items from the collection, but I find that the beauty powder and the lipstick will be the most coveted and they are the only items I bought because everything else you can get permanently or from mac pro. Lipstick because of course you have to have a lipstick geared towards Maleficent. The beauty powder because of the limited edition packaging, but essentially you buy the collection for the limited edition packaging. Its not a collection geared towards new colors, but your a fan of Disney and Maleficent.

Luluhalabaloo Avatar

Tried on lipstick at Mac today…it goes on really well and it stays in place without a liner, and the color is nice and all, but….I was underwhelmed. It’s a red. Even the SAs there were underwhelmed. I think it is a disappointing collection – it was even sitting just by the register and actually was hard to find in the store. That said, I had a lot of compliments on my lip color afterwards walking through the mall, so, I don’t know. It’s odd, but then again, I used to always get compliments when I wear red lipstick. I passed. I have too many reds already.
