OMG I love the colours in this collection…. though I can’t truly justify reapplying a lipstick that looks like that and then justify buying a couple backups lmao I guess I have to wait till they repromote some of these in more classic-looking packaging. Though the MSF sounds too good to pass up. Just like VV, I’ll see the product in person and decide.

kiki Avatar

Agree. This is by far the ugliest packaging for MAC ever! Such a shame they didn’t just changed the black in the usual packaging into red or something if they would’ve gone for the superwoman theme..

Andrea Avatar

The packaging reminds me of a little girl’s “play” make up. The kind that had scented, peel-Off polish, flavoured gloss and chalky shadows and blush. Not impressed at all.

April Avatar

I can’t believe how many people are complaining about the packaging…it’s Wonder Woman…the packaging screams classic Wonder Woman. I love it…I don’t think it’s cheap looking at all, it looks like it should look:)

Hannah Avatar

LOL. I know april! I really like the packaging. in person it’ll probably look better. i think if you dont like the packaging you dont have to buy it?? buy it for the product is what i mean

kitty Avatar

ok…. whatever to all the haters!!!!!! m.a.c truly stands up to there name. the packaging stands up to the name, its wonder women…a comic… i guess some people just doesnt get it. but to those few it will always be a million more who will. this launch is a definetly a must have.

vanetta stanford Avatar

I was honestly starting to wonder if I was the only one who loves this collection!!! I haven’t too thrilled with them lately. The “scottish look” in last season wasn’t doing it for me.

Susan Avatar

I agree with April! The packaging is classic Wonder Woman. Makeup is supposed to be fun. Life is too serious to be criticizing MAC for bringing out another creative collection. If you want ahh “more mature” packaging, there are alot of other lines to chose from. As for me, I can’t wait for this collection to come out!

Jeannine Avatar

I’m with you, April. I absolutely love this packaging. As a little girl who grew up in the late 70’s, I was ALL ABOUT Wonder Woman. Even if actual makeup colors were awful and I would still be excited about this.

Jennifer Avatar

Glad you said that April! First of all, Wonder Woman is a COMIC BOOK character. The bright colors and graphics pay homage to that! I LOVE this packaging. Most special edition products can’t take advantage of color and this one could and DID. I’m pumped to see it in person!

Julie Avatar

Exactly April, it is bright and bold but it’s based on the comic book character and I think it matches it perfecty! I will be buying a few things from this collection!

Nicole Avatar

I love it too – yes it looks childish and toylike – but seriously, where do you normally find wonderwoman? in toyshops!!!
Love it love it love it…if it didn’t look comicbook classic wonderwoman, I would have been disappointment – now…I want a makeup bag and MSF and eye palette (just to have the palette!)

beautybee Avatar

Right? It’s a COMIC book character …It’s dead on for a comic, this isn’t a novel people. It’s supposed to remind you of your childhood. I had brothers so I know all about comic books and this collection captures that perfectly!!!! Come on ladies use a little imagination with this one and venture outside the box. 😀
Have fun with it!

Lisa G Avatar

I agree with all of you…the packaging is very comic book-like and that is perfect! As a child of the 70’s Wonder Woman was my hero and I am loving the packaging as well as the products and can’t wait to haul this collection. It’s comic perfection. So, all those who don’t like it-there’s more for me!

Sherry Avatar

I just wish it would have had graphics instead of just wording. I was hoping for graphics of Wonder Woman through the years. The lettering IS comic book, I just wish they would have done more than that, like they did with Villians. That’s all. 🙁

Antonia Avatar

I agree Sherry they should of added some sort of image of her on the packaging she is beautiful and her face and tiara are very recognizable to all.I’m a huge WW fan i collect everthing i see of her .MAC thank you for another amazing line!

Angela Avatar

I agree! If you don’t like the packaging, then don’t buy any pieces of the collection! No one is holding a gun to anyone’s head, forcing them to buy Mac’s Wonder Woman Collection! More to go around for the true Mac Addicts and collectors!

Stef | we heart this Avatar

I have to second (or fourth?) April’s comment. A comic book collection lends itself to this packaging. I don’t mind it at all.

Plus, I’m so excited to see Marquise d’ again, it’s my favorite nude! I’m loving the look of the Lady Justice palette too.

SuddenlyIKnow Avatar

Agreed as well with April. The palettes even remind me of a lunch box I had as a kid. It supposed to look like that crazy people! If you can’t understand it or don’t “get it” then don’t buy it. That simple.

amie Avatar

I agree April, its meant to be vivid and comic book looking.I have seen the packaging in person and I can tell you its really fun. Its 1940’s pop and I think it is great. Let the haters hate, the colors are awesome.

KDizzle Avatar

I agree April. I grew up with the WW tv show and I love this packaging. It remeinds me of the old comic and the 70’s tv show. I love it. I think it’s great. It goes perfectly with the theme.

Ginelly Avatar

Im soooo dissapointed with mac its spring they should be coming out with cute spring colors I hate The theme all together seriously comic book theme srry but the pacaging is extremely ugly im not gonna get anything from this collection complete wasste of money !!!!!!! worst collection mac ever came out with

Aubrey Avatar

Maybe for you, but obviously other people are excited about this. plus mac just came out with a light sping type collection, i think we will live. mac is tying to add some fun to their products! If you don’t like it i’m sure the chanel counter has room for you. 😉

Gabriella Avatar

They’re not Disney villains- Wonder Woman is the most popular comic book heroine from DC Comics! She’s been around for years! Just sayin’.

MatryoshkaDoll Avatar

ITA!! The packaging looks horrible. I know people have complained in the past about the Hello Kitty and VV packaging looking juvenile, but this is the worst of the bunch by far! They look like cheap party favors you’d stick in some kid’s birthday party favor bag.

Cindy Avatar

I actually love the packaging. It reminds me of childhood. I love wonder woman, I love superheroes, I love comic books. It makes me think that make up isnt all about being mature and sophisticated, that its okay to be fun and playful and colorful and bold. Wonder Woman is all about standing out and I think pulling a tube of this lipstick out of my bag will attract a lot more attention than the conventional matte black tube. I think the packaging is kind of….kick ass, much like the super hero it’s designed to emulate.

Nicole Avatar

I totally agree, I will not buy anything from this collection that I can not depot, the packaging is tacky, cheap and very immature for any adult to use

Naomi Avatar

Yeah, they should have at *least* made all the yellow brick letters gold instead (on the logo), to match the inside of the lipstick. The color combo says McDonald’s to me rather than MAC. I’ll be skipping this collection!

Jessica Avatar

I want to like that packaging but I just don’t. No. No. No.
It looks so cheap and like kindergarden. The quality has to be really amazing or else I’ll be skipping this collection.

Polly Avatar

Thank you a lot to ALL of you who’s NOT liking this collection!

Will increase my chance to get all the items I want!

THANK YOU <3 xxxx mega kiss

El Avatar

This packaging is MEANT to be exaggerated and fun. And also, the one thing you can’t tell from the pictures is that these products are going to be super-sized compared to regular MAC products. Those are not regular sized lipglasses you’re looking at…they’r BIG. Again, supposed to be playful, fun!

Emily Avatar

These are exactly as they should look- pop art ! It’s like having a Lichtenstein collection. These symbols and colors are perfectly representative of the comic icon. If you would be embarrassed to pull this lipstick out of your purse umm perhaps you shouldn’t purchase it? I had the underoos as a kid and will proudly continue to rock the Super Heroine’s adorable packaging proudly.

KDizzle Avatar

I’d be willing to bet that the majority of individuals complaining about the packaging know absolutely nothing about comics WW or anything of the like.

Anel Avatar

I can’t help but get frustrated when people say that this packaging looks cheap.. I feel like the vision is getting lost, its a comic! I don’t think it’s supposed to be extra luxurious. I feel that the bright colors are supposed to convey the extra “cheese”. With that being said, I can’t WAIT for this collection.

Kacee Avatar

The point of the packaging is to look like the comic book. duh. not all high end and super expensive looking. and its wonder women for godsakes. what else do you expect?

Sheila Avatar

I totally agree! I’ve never had a thing for Wonder Woman, so I won’t be out buying this stuff. Also I can’t believe they raised their prices again!!

I did see some real life photos and swatches of this collection (I posted them on my blog), and while it doesn’t look as tacky as they do in the press photos, they’re still not good enough for me to put down $23.50+tax on a lipglass.

nayeli Avatar

i was just reading your formspring and someone asked you if you had info on this collection and u said u post things as u have it, and i thought it was funny bc i came to ur site and saw it

Christine Avatar

Yes, I can only post when I have information sent to me or if a reputable website posts information (such as both MSN Australia and Cosme), because if it is too preliminary, it spreads like wildfire and it loses that “this is just preliminary” warning that I give and people start to take it as 100% accurate. So, I must wait.

Teenah Avatar

I’m actually really excited about this collection still, lol not everybody will e happy regardless of what it looks like. I love wonderwoman and I love Mac so….more for me! Lol but packaging aside (oh an I hope Mac isn’t pushing these for more $ bc of their jumbo size) does anyone know if the brushes that come out with these collections are just short handled, or if they’re usually mass produced like the Christmas stuff?

Ani_BEE Avatar

Although some (not all) of the packaging is growing on me it i get the blushes I’ll be inclined to depot them from the Red Yoyo compact.

I think this is the first time see that style of compact from MAC. Not the colour but the exposed lip part.

LH Avatar

Its funny because I feel the opposite I am quite interested in a couple literally 1 or 2 products but the packaging is totally turning me off I don’t want to have to look at them in my collection lol

tg Avatar

I love comics and think it really looks fun and fitting with a comic series, but I can definitely see how people would be turned off by it, especially if you enjoy elegant packaging.

I like both. Guerlain compacts are gorgeous, but I also adored the VV collection’s look.

Angie Avatar

IA. I think people are forgetting that Wonder Woman is a comic book character and I honestly thing the packaging matches that feel. I really want the compact and I’m happy Marquise’d is coming back out.

Banana Bread Avatar

I hate that packaging! I can’t imagine that many people over 18 will want to buy from this collection simply because of the theme. It seems silly to me.

Amarie Avatar

I’m 32 and I love the packaging! But then again, I grew up reading comics and I like superhero stuff in general.

I think the packaging fits the Wonder Woman theme perfectly; after all, the theme of this collection is half the point isn’t it? Wonder Woman is bold and kitchy and fun, and so is her makeup!

Geek Faerie Avatar

I’m with you Amarie!! I’m 32 as well and Wonder Woman is my idol!! I grew up watching Linda Carter on the tv and all I wanted to be was Wonder Woman when I got older. I am buying everything in this collection!! I want it all!! SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

Jellytea Avatar

I agree. I’ve only brought maybe three MAC items in my life, but when I saw this, I thought “two of everything!” I think you have to be a 70’s/80’s comic kid to get this collection. I do not see “cheap” at all, I see memories of WW underoos

Jellytea Avatar

I agree. I’ve only brought maybe three MAC items in my life, but when I saw this, I thought “two of everything!” I think you have to be a 70’s/80’s comic kid to get this collection. I do not see “cheap” at all, I see memories of WW underoos all glammed up!

kp Avatar

I agree…I am 37 and this is SO Wonder Woman. If the colors look good then I’ll get something. I can care less about packaging. I mean, really, do you REALLY care what you are “seen” putting on. SMH. So silly. But perhaps that is just the confidence in me talking.

Foxy Roxy Avatar

Well I’m 35 and simply cannot wait! I too love Wonder Woman and rmbr as a child me & my cuzns used to watch the show w/ Linda Carter (gorgeous and Latina shoot!) and then we would run outside & pretend to be her! I luv the packaging & would proudly display it, though I dnt carry around blushes & such but anyhow maybe jst maybe this line is geared at fans of Wonder Woman gasp!

Silvia Avatar

Amazing collection!! I can’t wait for this collection! It reminds me the venomous villains collection because the packaging was really cool too =)

Ada Avatar

I love the packaging because it looks cheap! In my mind Wonder Woman is supposed to be kitschy and fun. The blush duo and the quads are calling me…

Marcela Avatar

I agree! in any other setting this packaging would be tacky and ugly, but i really think it fits the KITSCHY (perfect word for it) and comic-book feel of the collection. it looks fun.

Jessie Q Avatar

I’ll wait for swatches, but I would totally buy one of those quads for the packaging, as long as the product quality is there. The packaging is perfect for what it is!

kayleigh Avatar

I’m not liking the packaging. It reminds me of a toy, and if I went out in public with the one of those products, and reapplied, i’d be kind of embarassed.

Mischa Avatar

Rather a steep idea, but I was thinking… what if they put a holographic comic-strip on everything? Or a WW action sequence? Call me kiddish but I would love to turn the lid of my lipglass and see a comic strip take place in front of my eyes 🙂

Amanda Dubs Avatar

Wow that is a lot of product. I think some of it is cute. Like the mascara packaging and lipstick. I’m interested to read what you think of the quality though 🙂

Meghan Avatar

I am not a fan of the packaging. I hate special packaging cuz I can’t use my discount!!!!!

I will be interested to see how dupable the eyeshadows are. 🙂

Nadia Avatar

While a couple of the products sound nice (Mighty Aphrodite blush duo and Golden Lariat MSF), the packaging is a real turn-off. Don’t get me wrong, I do like ‘different’ packaging in LE items but this is just too tacky. I’d be embarassed to use these in public. I’m going to skip this.

Dawn Avatar

How often would you apply blush or MSF in public anyway? The only things I can imagine would be used in public are the lipsticks/lipglosses and of course the mirror

Nadia Avatar

Good point, Dawn! Thank you :o) See, the packaging turned me off so much that it didn’t occur to me that the products I liked can actually easily be ‘hidden’ in the depths of my makeup drawer. Hehe…I might purchase afterall!

Storm Avatar

I understand your concern but I (personally) would whip those babies out just like I do my Wonder Woman notebook and pencil bag. But I’m a fan 🙂 I love the packaging but I can see how a lot of people wouldn’t!

Doan Avatar

I can understand how others can see that the packaging looks cheap…but then again the whole point is that it is a MAC Wonder Woman Collection. It has the original style of the comic, and I think a lot of people will buy it for that reason.

diana Avatar

there are a lot of people tripping over the packaging. it’s a comic book hero collection, what do you expect? i can’t help but think that it’s older women who have such insecurities whipping out their makeup in public…

Jean Avatar

I’m in my mid twenties and I generally don’t whip out my makeup in public but hey, I still don’t like the packaging. It’s personal preference so there’s no need to make insulting generalizations like that; if you like it, you like it, if not, not. That’s fine, isn’t it?

RJ Avatar

Yeah I agree with Melissa and others, it was kind of ageist. Assuming that it’s only old people who “overreact.” I’m 21 and I would’ve preferred a more creative spin on the packaging – like the “comic strip” idea that someone wrote early on in the comments. But it’s just bright flashy colours from her clothes and nothing more to it. Though if Nintendo made a collection with MAC, I’d be all over EVERYTHING who gives a **** what the packaging looks like and what colors I’m buying. lmao But to each their own, there’s no need to generalize like that.

1xellus1 Avatar

I was watching a documentary about makeup & when it was 1st en vogue in the US (flapper era), it was customary for women to apply makeup in public. The manufacturers put a lot into the pkging for that reason up until the 30s. Later on, it was considered gauche for women to apply makeup in public. One politely excused herself to “powder her nose”. LOL Generally grooming in public is considered rude by many. I’m not stuffy though. I have reapplied l/s & l/g in a restaurant. Interesting.

ShockingBlue Avatar

I was the first to say it looked ugly and I’m in my early 20s. I think that the “cheap kitschy comic” look could have been done correctly but I thought they missed the mark on it! It has nothing to do with insecurities…I guess a good example is when they come out with a movie on a comic book hero you loved as a child and then when you see the movie you feel disappointed creative liberties the director took!

AshleyD Avatar

it’s not insecurities that makes us not like it – for instance in my case, I like packaging that looks elegant, ladylike and pretty – even if no one else sees it, that’s just the style I like. and I don’t mind paying a bit more for beautiful packaging. in this case, the packaging is so bad, I could never buy it, even if no one else would see it. I’d simply rather buy some other product that has packaging I do like.

Sylvie Avatar

I’m 22 and I often do my makeup in public on a daily basis- mascara on the train, lipgloss/lipstick any time I feel like it, powder touch up with a brush. Sometimes, I even do my entire face on the plane or on the train when I’m travelling (yes, foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, contouring etc, you name it) and I don’t care if people are watching me. In fact, I *know* people are watching me because they are intrigued. Yes, it’s a comic book theme, but it is comic book inspired, not products right out of the comic books themselves. Most people are drawn to MAC because of their chic packaging (I know it was a major factor for me at the beginning, and so is it for some of my friends who are the plainest of Janes around- and yet they have commented on how cool, hip and sleek MAC stuff looks, so much so that they feel like buying something). That is why many of us are thinking that MAC can do better than this.

Catherine Avatar

I totally agree with you, don’t care what people say about what my makeup look like. Are people ashamed of pulling off a lipstick from a drugstore brand in front of people? NO. It is just makeup! And in fact, some people like it. The other day, i was retouching my lipstick in a Sears (where i work) and a little girl told her mom “oh mommy look at this girl, she has 101 dalmatiens lipstick!” she was soooo cute 🙂

laura Avatar

T___T venomous villains’ packaging was really cute indeed… I’m so sad I didn’t find what I wanted in store T___T but I don’t like wonder woman collection XD

Maggie Avatar

Agreed. I totally understand if the packaging just isn’t somebody’s thing, but I don’t get the embarrassment factor. What, do people think everyone around them is going to go “Heavens! Did you *see* that woman’s blush compact! How tasteless! We certainly shan’t be inviting *her* for tea and cucumber sandwiches!” It mystifies me.

Jennifer Avatar

IMO,I actually think it’s probably the younger generation who wouldn’t want to whip this out in public. Only because they are to young to associate with the Wonder Woman theme, so they don’t understand the comic book kitsch that MAC is employing here. If you can’t relate to it then it probably would look tacky. ( I didn’t relate to Hello Kitty all that much b/c I didn’t grow up with it). I’m 37 so I like it b/c it does remind me of WW and it does represent the comic book theme. Also, at 37 I don’t particularly give a darn what people think when I pull out my makeup! One of the benefits of getting older 😉 So I say if you can relate to it then have fun with it, if you can’t then hopefully another collection will appeal to you more.

Jen Avatar

Tacky packaging but thats expected. I just really hate red. Anyway, im definitely into the blushes and MSFs. The colored mascaras sound interesting, especially green. Will consider an eyeshadow quad, and maybe a lipstick or lipgloss if I like the color enough. I think its a really cute collection, especially for comic fans.

Jules Avatar

I can’t wait to see what you think of this collection once you get your hands on it. I’m definitely interested in Marquise d’, Emancipation and Pink Power. I can’t wait to see how some of the LE eyeshadows swatch.

Lissa Avatar

I’m actually more interested in this then I thought I’d be. I saw a couple of pics over on Musings of a Muse a few days ago and thought it looked tacky with dull colours. But reading this quite a lot is appealing to me.

Is the chunky pen the Penultimate liner?

Laura Avatar

This is hideous. First, I dislike Wonder Woman and comic books, so it’s of zero interest to me. Second, the colors are awful, as in packaging, it looks like dollar store play makeup. I would cringe every time I opened my makeup drawer and saw sprinklings of yellow and red, with my sleek black. And I am beyond disappointed that they did a long compact with mirror for Wonder Woman. I had really hoped they would do something, oh, I don’t know, CUTE. FAIL.

Maggie Avatar

I love the packaging 😀 I don’t really get the complaints that it’s childish and cartoony… it’s a collection based on a *comic book character*! Of course it’s childish and cartoony! I really like the super bright, comic book-y look. There are some really fun colors in there, too. As always, wish there weren’t so many repromotes/permanent colors, but ah well. Definitely going to pick up one of the colored mascaras and the lighter blush duo, at least!

Aracely Avatar

I agree. It’s meant to have a retro feel to it and the packaging is a reflection of the color scheme and design of the wonder woman period.

ilona Avatar

omg i am so disgusted. even though i may be intersted in a few products, i wouldn’t be caught dead taking them out in public. what a dissapointment

Maisie Avatar

i’m so sick of all these character themed collections. especially the packaging, i don’t want a makeup collection full of makeup with disney characters and super heroes printed all over them. if i did, i’d shop at claire’s.

felicia Avatar

I am Not a fan of much anything Disney..ugh..on the villians collection. I do like some little mermaid but wouldnt want her plastered all over my makeup…lol..I loved the felines collection, with Docile lipglass being my 2nd all time fav next to Elle Lipglass. Also they had great liners in the feline’s collection. As far a Wonder woman..I will probably pick up 3 products..one of the blushes, lipglass, and (maybe) and msf..I love her but didnt grow up with her..im only an old 25year old..I did dress up as her for Halloween 2010 and I loved the costume she wore!!!!

Yasmin Souder Avatar

Ill be bringing home a few pieces from this collection for sure. Just got back into MAC and this is my first collection since getting back to MAC

Nlinton Avatar

I had high hopes for this. The packaging is growing on me – like the nail polish bottles are kind of cute. I don’t think it is tacky or anything, I am just underwhelmed. Maybe I will get the makeup bag and a mirror because those are pretty cute.

Oh MAC….sigh…

Mac really could’ve done something fresh and exciting with the packaging. Unfortunately it’s all the same pitiful logo (on every single item). I could’ve gotten a better decal at Toys-R-Us. I hope the packaging is metal because it looks like cheap packaging from the photos. Sadly, I’m no longer excited about this collection anymore.

I’m been drooling over the MFS Pink Power, and the Blush Duos Mighty Aphordite and Amazon Princess since this morning. I hope there more pigmented the the Blush Ombre counter parts

I think I will be passing on this. One of the quads sounds okay, but every time I see a MAC LE Quad, the pigmentation is not so good.

I saw some obscure video on youtube, and the lipglass packaging and penultimate packaging were huge and awkward.

I am sooooo excited for this! People need to calm down about the packaging because Wonder Woman is a SUPERHERO so the packaging would be comic book themed especially since MAC teamed up with DC COMICS for this collection. I grew up reading comics and watching the cartoons of her so this collection is like a childhood dream come true. I cannot wait for it to come out!

My sentiments exactly! I’m a retro, kitschy kind of gal, so this collection is right up my alley. Not only will I whip these products out in public, but I will do so while wearing my Wonder Woman t-shirt. 😛

I mean, seriously? Would these same “ladies” (who are calling the packaging “horrendous”, “tacky”, “cheap-looking” and “embarrassing”) ALSO say these terribly judgmental (and snobbish!) things to someone’s face (who just happened to be enjoying this collection-and in PUBLIC mind you!) or would they just say it on the internet?

Maggie Avatar

They probably wouldn’t say it to your face, but they won’t invite you to the next annual meeting of the Ladies’ Extremely Dull Makeup Packaging Society, either 😉

‘Ladies Extremely Dull Makeup Packaging Society’, OMG I love it! You read my mind! The fact is that if you are classy, sophisticated or ladylike it has nothing to do with what makeup you ‘whip out in public’ just as much as it has nothing to do with whether you wear jeans or a Chanel suit. It does have something to do with manners, confidence and poise;) A sleek, black compact in someone’s hands doesn’t change that. Believe me, I will still pull off classy at the same time I whip out my WW lipstick, you can be sure of that!

my thoughts exactly, this collection is amazing and the packaging is just right, I can’t understand why some people find it cheap or tacky or say the colors are not original, come on!!! these are the colors of Wonder Woman, what other colors were they expecting?

tehteh Avatar

alright I’m biting…the green quad sounds nice…shame you don’t have pics of that one…and the blush duos too…and the MSFs…God I need to shut this collection out of my head now!

any idea of that those brushes might be?

Em Avatar

I kinda like the packaging! yeah its kinda childish but its based on a comic!! Its appropriate. And its look like there’s more effort gone into it, VV just looked like they’d slapped a photo onto the side of an ordinary container. and forgotten to add the matt finish.

The coral blush and the msfs look very pretty but the packaging is horrible yucky and cheap :(. I would prefer the regular MAC packaging over something like this. Thanks Cristine!

I think one of the best things about MAC is that they have something to appeal to everybody. I’ve never been into Wonder Woman but I think some of the products look great and the packaging, while maybe not my cup of tea, is EXACTLY what you’d expect for this collection! Don’t complain if you don’t like it…just don’t buy it! 😛

i saw this earlier today and was half hoping it wasnt authentic…but it is. im not shocked b/c of how venemous villians looked. i wish they would have put more effort into the bags for the brush sets and stuff. that looks the cheapest and costume-y. marine ultra will probably be the only thing i pick up from this launch.
