OMG I love the colours in this collection…. though I can’t truly justify reapplying a lipstick that looks like that and then justify buying a couple backups lmao I guess I have to wait till they repromote some of these in more classic-looking packaging. Though the MSF sounds too good to pass up. Just like VV, I’ll see the product in person and decide.

kiki Avatar

Agree. This is by far the ugliest packaging for MAC ever! Such a shame they didn’t just changed the black in the usual packaging into red or something if they would’ve gone for the superwoman theme..

Andrea Avatar

The packaging reminds me of a little girl’s “play” make up. The kind that had scented, peel-Off polish, flavoured gloss and chalky shadows and blush. Not impressed at all.

April Avatar

I can’t believe how many people are complaining about the packaging…it’s Wonder Woman…the packaging screams classic Wonder Woman. I love it…I don’t think it’s cheap looking at all, it looks like it should look:)

Hannah Avatar

LOL. I know april! I really like the packaging. in person it’ll probably look better. i think if you dont like the packaging you dont have to buy it?? buy it for the product is what i mean

kitty Avatar

ok…. whatever to all the haters!!!!!! m.a.c truly stands up to there name. the packaging stands up to the name, its wonder women…a comic… i guess some people just doesnt get it. but to those few it will always be a million more who will. this launch is a definetly a must have.

vanetta stanford Avatar

I was honestly starting to wonder if I was the only one who loves this collection!!! I haven’t too thrilled with them lately. The “scottish look” in last season wasn’t doing it for me.

Susan Avatar

I agree with April! The packaging is classic Wonder Woman. Makeup is supposed to be fun. Life is too serious to be criticizing MAC for bringing out another creative collection. If you want ahh “more mature” packaging, there are alot of other lines to chose from. As for me, I can’t wait for this collection to come out!

Jeannine Avatar

I’m with you, April. I absolutely love this packaging. As a little girl who grew up in the late 70’s, I was ALL ABOUT Wonder Woman. Even if actual makeup colors were awful and I would still be excited about this.

Jennifer Avatar

Glad you said that April! First of all, Wonder Woman is a COMIC BOOK character. The bright colors and graphics pay homage to that! I LOVE this packaging. Most special edition products can’t take advantage of color and this one could and DID. I’m pumped to see it in person!

Julie Avatar

Exactly April, it is bright and bold but it’s based on the comic book character and I think it matches it perfecty! I will be buying a few things from this collection!

Nicole Avatar

I love it too – yes it looks childish and toylike – but seriously, where do you normally find wonderwoman? in toyshops!!!
Love it love it love it…if it didn’t look comicbook classic wonderwoman, I would have been disappointment – now…I want a makeup bag and MSF and eye palette (just to have the palette!)

beautybee Avatar

Right? It’s a COMIC book character …It’s dead on for a comic, this isn’t a novel people. It’s supposed to remind you of your childhood. I had brothers so I know all about comic books and this collection captures that perfectly!!!! Come on ladies use a little imagination with this one and venture outside the box. 😀
Have fun with it!

Lisa G Avatar

I agree with all of you…the packaging is very comic book-like and that is perfect! As a child of the 70’s Wonder Woman was my hero and I am loving the packaging as well as the products and can’t wait to haul this collection. It’s comic perfection. So, all those who don’t like it-there’s more for me!

Sherry Avatar

I just wish it would have had graphics instead of just wording. I was hoping for graphics of Wonder Woman through the years. The lettering IS comic book, I just wish they would have done more than that, like they did with Villians. That’s all. 🙁

Antonia Avatar

I agree Sherry they should of added some sort of image of her on the packaging she is beautiful and her face and tiara are very recognizable to all.I’m a huge WW fan i collect everthing i see of her .MAC thank you for another amazing line!

Angela Avatar

I agree! If you don’t like the packaging, then don’t buy any pieces of the collection! No one is holding a gun to anyone’s head, forcing them to buy Mac’s Wonder Woman Collection! More to go around for the true Mac Addicts and collectors!

Stef | we heart this Avatar

I have to second (or fourth?) April’s comment. A comic book collection lends itself to this packaging. I don’t mind it at all.

Plus, I’m so excited to see Marquise d’ again, it’s my favorite nude! I’m loving the look of the Lady Justice palette too.

SuddenlyIKnow Avatar

Agreed as well with April. The palettes even remind me of a lunch box I had as a kid. It supposed to look like that crazy people! If you can’t understand it or don’t “get it” then don’t buy it. That simple.

amie Avatar

I agree April, its meant to be vivid and comic book looking.I have seen the packaging in person and I can tell you its really fun. Its 1940’s pop and I think it is great. Let the haters hate, the colors are awesome.

KDizzle Avatar

I agree April. I grew up with the WW tv show and I love this packaging. It remeinds me of the old comic and the 70’s tv show. I love it. I think it’s great. It goes perfectly with the theme.

Ginelly Avatar

Im soooo dissapointed with mac its spring they should be coming out with cute spring colors I hate The theme all together seriously comic book theme srry but the pacaging is extremely ugly im not gonna get anything from this collection complete wasste of money !!!!!!! worst collection mac ever came out with

Aubrey Avatar

Maybe for you, but obviously other people are excited about this. plus mac just came out with a light sping type collection, i think we will live. mac is tying to add some fun to their products! If you don’t like it i’m sure the chanel counter has room for you. 😉

Gabriella Avatar

They’re not Disney villains- Wonder Woman is the most popular comic book heroine from DC Comics! She’s been around for years! Just sayin’.

MatryoshkaDoll Avatar

ITA!! The packaging looks horrible. I know people have complained in the past about the Hello Kitty and VV packaging looking juvenile, but this is the worst of the bunch by far! They look like cheap party favors you’d stick in some kid’s birthday party favor bag.

Cindy Avatar

I actually love the packaging. It reminds me of childhood. I love wonder woman, I love superheroes, I love comic books. It makes me think that make up isnt all about being mature and sophisticated, that its okay to be fun and playful and colorful and bold. Wonder Woman is all about standing out and I think pulling a tube of this lipstick out of my bag will attract a lot more attention than the conventional matte black tube. I think the packaging is kind of….kick ass, much like the super hero it’s designed to emulate.

Nicole Avatar

I totally agree, I will not buy anything from this collection that I can not depot, the packaging is tacky, cheap and very immature for any adult to use

Naomi Avatar

Yeah, they should have at *least* made all the yellow brick letters gold instead (on the logo), to match the inside of the lipstick. The color combo says McDonald’s to me rather than MAC. I’ll be skipping this collection!

Jessica Avatar

I want to like that packaging but I just don’t. No. No. No.
It looks so cheap and like kindergarden. The quality has to be really amazing or else I’ll be skipping this collection.

Polly Avatar

Thank you a lot to ALL of you who’s NOT liking this collection!

Will increase my chance to get all the items I want!

THANK YOU <3 xxxx mega kiss

El Avatar

This packaging is MEANT to be exaggerated and fun. And also, the one thing you can’t tell from the pictures is that these products are going to be super-sized compared to regular MAC products. Those are not regular sized lipglasses you’re looking at…they’r BIG. Again, supposed to be playful, fun!

Emily Avatar

These are exactly as they should look- pop art ! It’s like having a Lichtenstein collection. These symbols and colors are perfectly representative of the comic icon. If you would be embarrassed to pull this lipstick out of your purse umm perhaps you shouldn’t purchase it? I had the underoos as a kid and will proudly continue to rock the Super Heroine’s adorable packaging proudly.

KDizzle Avatar

I’d be willing to bet that the majority of individuals complaining about the packaging know absolutely nothing about comics WW or anything of the like.

Anel Avatar

I can’t help but get frustrated when people say that this packaging looks cheap.. I feel like the vision is getting lost, its a comic! I don’t think it’s supposed to be extra luxurious. I feel that the bright colors are supposed to convey the extra “cheese”. With that being said, I can’t WAIT for this collection.

Kacee Avatar

The point of the packaging is to look like the comic book. duh. not all high end and super expensive looking. and its wonder women for godsakes. what else do you expect?

Sheila Avatar

I totally agree! I’ve never had a thing for Wonder Woman, so I won’t be out buying this stuff. Also I can’t believe they raised their prices again!!

I did see some real life photos and swatches of this collection (I posted them on my blog), and while it doesn’t look as tacky as they do in the press photos, they’re still not good enough for me to put down $23.50+tax on a lipglass.

nayeli Avatar

i was just reading your formspring and someone asked you if you had info on this collection and u said u post things as u have it, and i thought it was funny bc i came to ur site and saw it

Christine Avatar

Yes, I can only post when I have information sent to me or if a reputable website posts information (such as both MSN Australia and Cosme), because if it is too preliminary, it spreads like wildfire and it loses that “this is just preliminary” warning that I give and people start to take it as 100% accurate. So, I must wait.

Teenah Avatar

I’m actually really excited about this collection still, lol not everybody will e happy regardless of what it looks like. I love wonderwoman and I love Mac so….more for me! Lol but packaging aside (oh an I hope Mac isn’t pushing these for more $ bc of their jumbo size) does anyone know if the brushes that come out with these collections are just short handled, or if they’re usually mass produced like the Christmas stuff?

Ani_BEE Avatar

Although some (not all) of the packaging is growing on me it i get the blushes I’ll be inclined to depot them from the Red Yoyo compact.

I think this is the first time see that style of compact from MAC. Not the colour but the exposed lip part.

LH Avatar

Its funny because I feel the opposite I am quite interested in a couple literally 1 or 2 products but the packaging is totally turning me off I don’t want to have to look at them in my collection lol

tg Avatar

I love comics and think it really looks fun and fitting with a comic series, but I can definitely see how people would be turned off by it, especially if you enjoy elegant packaging.

I like both. Guerlain compacts are gorgeous, but I also adored the VV collection’s look.

Angie Avatar

IA. I think people are forgetting that Wonder Woman is a comic book character and I honestly thing the packaging matches that feel. I really want the compact and I’m happy Marquise’d is coming back out.

Banana Bread Avatar

I hate that packaging! I can’t imagine that many people over 18 will want to buy from this collection simply because of the theme. It seems silly to me.

Amarie Avatar

I’m 32 and I love the packaging! But then again, I grew up reading comics and I like superhero stuff in general.

I think the packaging fits the Wonder Woman theme perfectly; after all, the theme of this collection is half the point isn’t it? Wonder Woman is bold and kitchy and fun, and so is her makeup!

Geek Faerie Avatar

I’m with you Amarie!! I’m 32 as well and Wonder Woman is my idol!! I grew up watching Linda Carter on the tv and all I wanted to be was Wonder Woman when I got older. I am buying everything in this collection!! I want it all!! SO EXCITED!!!!!!!

Jellytea Avatar

I agree. I’ve only brought maybe three MAC items in my life, but when I saw this, I thought “two of everything!” I think you have to be a 70’s/80’s comic kid to get this collection. I do not see “cheap” at all, I see memories of WW underoos

Jellytea Avatar

I agree. I’ve only brought maybe three MAC items in my life, but when I saw this, I thought “two of everything!” I think you have to be a 70’s/80’s comic kid to get this collection. I do not see “cheap” at all, I see memories of WW underoos all glammed up!

kp Avatar

I agree…I am 37 and this is SO Wonder Woman. If the colors look good then I’ll get something. I can care less about packaging. I mean, really, do you REALLY care what you are “seen” putting on. SMH. So silly. But perhaps that is just the confidence in me talking.

Foxy Roxy Avatar

Well I’m 35 and simply cannot wait! I too love Wonder Woman and rmbr as a child me & my cuzns used to watch the show w/ Linda Carter (gorgeous and Latina shoot!) and then we would run outside & pretend to be her! I luv the packaging & would proudly display it, though I dnt carry around blushes & such but anyhow maybe jst maybe this line is geared at fans of Wonder Woman gasp!

Silvia Avatar

Amazing collection!! I can’t wait for this collection! It reminds me the venomous villains collection because the packaging was really cool too =)

Ada Avatar

I love the packaging because it looks cheap! In my mind Wonder Woman is supposed to be kitschy and fun. The blush duo and the quads are calling me…

Marcela Avatar

I agree! in any other setting this packaging would be tacky and ugly, but i really think it fits the KITSCHY (perfect word for it) and comic-book feel of the collection. it looks fun.

Jessie Q Avatar

I’ll wait for swatches, but I would totally buy one of those quads for the packaging, as long as the product quality is there. The packaging is perfect for what it is!

kayleigh Avatar

I’m not liking the packaging. It reminds me of a toy, and if I went out in public with the one of those products, and reapplied, i’d be kind of embarassed.

Mischa Avatar

Rather a steep idea, but I was thinking… what if they put a holographic comic-strip on everything? Or a WW action sequence? Call me kiddish but I would love to turn the lid of my lipglass and see a comic strip take place in front of my eyes 🙂

Amanda Dubs Avatar

Wow that is a lot of product. I think some of it is cute. Like the mascara packaging and lipstick. I’m interested to read what you think of the quality though 🙂

Meghan Avatar

I am not a fan of the packaging. I hate special packaging cuz I can’t use my discount!!!!!

I will be interested to see how dupable the eyeshadows are. 🙂

Nadia Avatar

While a couple of the products sound nice (Mighty Aphrodite blush duo and Golden Lariat MSF), the packaging is a real turn-off. Don’t get me wrong, I do like ‘different’ packaging in LE items but this is just too tacky. I’d be embarassed to use these in public. I’m going to skip this.

Dawn Avatar

How often would you apply blush or MSF in public anyway? The only things I can imagine would be used in public are the lipsticks/lipglosses and of course the mirror

Nadia Avatar

Good point, Dawn! Thank you :o) See, the packaging turned me off so much that it didn’t occur to me that the products I liked can actually easily be ‘hidden’ in the depths of my makeup drawer. Hehe…I might purchase afterall!

Storm Avatar

I understand your concern but I (personally) would whip those babies out just like I do my Wonder Woman notebook and pencil bag. But I’m a fan 🙂 I love the packaging but I can see how a lot of people wouldn’t!

Doan Avatar

I can understand how others can see that the packaging looks cheap…but then again the whole point is that it is a MAC Wonder Woman Collection. It has the original style of the comic, and I think a lot of people will buy it for that reason.

diana Avatar

there are a lot of people tripping over the packaging. it’s a comic book hero collection, what do you expect? i can’t help but think that it’s older women who have such insecurities whipping out their makeup in public…

Jean Avatar

I’m in my mid twenties and I generally don’t whip out my makeup in public but hey, I still don’t like the packaging. It’s personal preference so there’s no need to make insulting generalizations like that; if you like it, you like it, if not, not. That’s fine, isn’t it?

RJ Avatar

Yeah I agree with Melissa and others, it was kind of ageist. Assuming that it’s only old people who “overreact.” I’m 21 and I would’ve preferred a more creative spin on the packaging – like the “comic strip” idea that someone wrote early on in the comments. But it’s just bright flashy colours from her clothes and nothing more to it. Though if Nintendo made a collection with MAC, I’d be all over EVERYTHING who gives a **** what the packaging looks like and what colors I’m buying. lmao But to each their own, there’s no need to generalize like that.

1xellus1 Avatar

I was watching a documentary about makeup & when it was 1st en vogue in the US (flapper era), it was customary for women to apply makeup in public. The manufacturers put a lot into the pkging for that reason up until the 30s. Later on, it was considered gauche for women to apply makeup in public. One politely excused herself to “powder her nose”. LOL Generally grooming in public is considered rude by many. I’m not stuffy though. I have reapplied l/s & l/g in a restaurant. Interesting.

ShockingBlue Avatar

I was the first to say it looked ugly and I’m in my early 20s. I think that the “cheap kitschy comic” look could have been done correctly but I thought they missed the mark on it! It has nothing to do with insecurities…I guess a good example is when they come out with a movie on a comic book hero you loved as a child and then when you see the movie you feel disappointed creative liberties the director took!

AshleyD Avatar

it’s not insecurities that makes us not like it – for instance in my case, I like packaging that looks elegant, ladylike and pretty – even if no one else sees it, that’s just the style I like. and I don’t mind paying a bit more for beautiful packaging. in this case, the packaging is so bad, I could never buy it, even if no one else would see it. I’d simply rather buy some other product that has packaging I do like.

Sylvie Avatar

I’m 22 and I often do my makeup in public on a daily basis- mascara on the train, lipgloss/lipstick any time I feel like it, powder touch up with a brush. Sometimes, I even do my entire face on the plane or on the train when I’m travelling (yes, foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, contouring etc, you name it) and I don’t care if people are watching me. In fact, I *know* people are watching me because they are intrigued. Yes, it’s a comic book theme, but it is comic book inspired, not products right out of the comic books themselves. Most people are drawn to MAC because of their chic packaging (I know it was a major factor for me at the beginning, and so is it for some of my friends who are the plainest of Janes around- and yet they have commented on how cool, hip and sleek MAC stuff looks, so much so that they feel like buying something). That is why many of us are thinking that MAC can do better than this.

Catherine Avatar

I totally agree with you, don’t care what people say about what my makeup look like. Are people ashamed of pulling off a lipstick from a drugstore brand in front of people? NO. It is just makeup! And in fact, some people like it. The other day, i was retouching my lipstick in a Sears (where i work) and a little girl told her mom “oh mommy look at this girl, she has 101 dalmatiens lipstick!” she was soooo cute 🙂

laura Avatar

T___T venomous villains’ packaging was really cute indeed… I’m so sad I didn’t find what I wanted in store T___T but I don’t like wonder woman collection XD

Maggie Avatar

Agreed. I totally understand if the packaging just isn’t somebody’s thing, but I don’t get the embarrassment factor. What, do people think everyone around them is going to go “Heavens! Did you *see* that woman’s blush compact! How tasteless! We certainly shan’t be inviting *her* for tea and cucumber sandwiches!” It mystifies me.

Jennifer Avatar

IMO,I actually think it’s probably the younger generation who wouldn’t want to whip this out in public. Only because they are to young to associate with the Wonder Woman theme, so they don’t understand the comic book kitsch that MAC is employing here. If you can’t relate to it then it probably would look tacky. ( I didn’t relate to Hello Kitty all that much b/c I didn’t grow up with it). I’m 37 so I like it b/c it does remind me of WW and it does represent the comic book theme. Also, at 37 I don’t particularly give a darn what people think when I pull out my makeup! One of the benefits of getting older 😉 So I say if you can relate to it then have fun with it, if you can’t then hopefully another collection will appeal to you more.

Jen Avatar

Tacky packaging but thats expected. I just really hate red. Anyway, im definitely into the blushes and MSFs. The colored mascaras sound interesting, especially green. Will consider an eyeshadow quad, and maybe a lipstick or lipgloss if I like the color enough. I think its a really cute collection, especially for comic fans.

Jules Avatar

I can’t wait to see what you think of this collection once you get your hands on it. I’m definitely interested in Marquise d’, Emancipation and Pink Power. I can’t wait to see how some of the LE eyeshadows swatch.

Lissa Avatar

I’m actually more interested in this then I thought I’d be. I saw a couple of pics over on Musings of a Muse a few days ago and thought it looked tacky with dull colours. But reading this quite a lot is appealing to me.

Is the chunky pen the Penultimate liner?

Laura Avatar

This is hideous. First, I dislike Wonder Woman and comic books, so it’s of zero interest to me. Second, the colors are awful, as in packaging, it looks like dollar store play makeup. I would cringe every time I opened my makeup drawer and saw sprinklings of yellow and red, with my sleek black. And I am beyond disappointed that they did a long compact with mirror for Wonder Woman. I had really hoped they would do something, oh, I don’t know, CUTE. FAIL.

Maggie Avatar

I love the packaging 😀 I don’t really get the complaints that it’s childish and cartoony… it’s a collection based on a *comic book character*! Of course it’s childish and cartoony! I really like the super bright, comic book-y look. There are some really fun colors in there, too. As always, wish there weren’t so many repromotes/permanent colors, but ah well. Definitely going to pick up one of the colored mascaras and the lighter blush duo, at least!

Aracely Avatar

I agree. It’s meant to have a retro feel to it and the packaging is a reflection of the color scheme and design of the wonder woman period.

ilona Avatar

omg i am so disgusted. even though i may be intersted in a few products, i wouldn’t be caught dead taking them out in public. what a dissapointment

Maisie Avatar

i’m so sick of all these character themed collections. especially the packaging, i don’t want a makeup collection full of makeup with disney characters and super heroes printed all over them. if i did, i’d shop at claire’s.

felicia Avatar

I am Not a fan of much anything Disney..ugh..on the villians collection. I do like some little mermaid but wouldnt want her plastered all over my makeup…lol..I loved the felines collection, with Docile lipglass being my 2nd all time fav next to Elle Lipglass. Also they had great liners in the feline’s collection. As far a Wonder woman..I will probably pick up 3 products..one of the blushes, lipglass, and (maybe) and msf..I love her but didnt grow up with her..im only an old 25year old..I did dress up as her for Halloween 2010 and I loved the costume she wore!!!!

Yasmin Souder Avatar

Ill be bringing home a few pieces from this collection for sure. Just got back into MAC and this is my first collection since getting back to MAC

Nlinton Avatar

I had high hopes for this. The packaging is growing on me – like the nail polish bottles are kind of cute. I don’t think it is tacky or anything, I am just underwhelmed. Maybe I will get the makeup bag and a mirror because those are pretty cute.

Oh MAC….sigh…

Mac really could’ve done something fresh and exciting with the packaging. Unfortunately it’s all the same pitiful logo (on every single item). I could’ve gotten a better decal at Toys-R-Us. I hope the packaging is metal because it looks like cheap packaging from the photos. Sadly, I’m no longer excited about this collection anymore.

Ani_BEE Avatar

I’m been drooling over the MFS Pink Power, and the Blush Duos Mighty Aphordite and Amazon Princess since this morning. I hope there more pigmented the the Blush Ombre counter parts

JayJay Avatar

I think I will be passing on this. One of the quads sounds okay, but every time I see a MAC LE Quad, the pigmentation is not so good.

I saw some obscure video on youtube, and the lipglass packaging and penultimate packaging were huge and awkward.

Danielle Avatar

I am sooooo excited for this! People need to calm down about the packaging because Wonder Woman is a SUPERHERO so the packaging would be comic book themed especially since MAC teamed up with DC COMICS for this collection. I grew up reading comics and watching the cartoons of her so this collection is like a childhood dream come true. I cannot wait for it to come out!

Sharron Avatar

My sentiments exactly! I’m a retro, kitschy kind of gal, so this collection is right up my alley. Not only will I whip these products out in public, but I will do so while wearing my Wonder Woman t-shirt. 😛

hannagrrl Avatar

I mean, seriously? Would these same “ladies” (who are calling the packaging “horrendous”, “tacky”, “cheap-looking” and “embarrassing”) ALSO say these terribly judgmental (and snobbish!) things to someone’s face (who just happened to be enjoying this collection-and in PUBLIC mind you!) or would they just say it on the internet?

Maggie Avatar

They probably wouldn’t say it to your face, but they won’t invite you to the next annual meeting of the Ladies’ Extremely Dull Makeup Packaging Society, either 😉

Jennifer Avatar

‘Ladies Extremely Dull Makeup Packaging Society’, OMG I love it! You read my mind! The fact is that if you are classy, sophisticated or ladylike it has nothing to do with what makeup you ‘whip out in public’ just as much as it has nothing to do with whether you wear jeans or a Chanel suit. It does have something to do with manners, confidence and poise;) A sleek, black compact in someone’s hands doesn’t change that. Believe me, I will still pull off classy at the same time I whip out my WW lipstick, you can be sure of that!

Lilly Avatar

my thoughts exactly, this collection is amazing and the packaging is just right, I can’t understand why some people find it cheap or tacky or say the colors are not original, come on!!! these are the colors of Wonder Woman, what other colors were they expecting?

tehteh Avatar

alright I’m biting…the green quad sounds nice…shame you don’t have pics of that one…and the blush duos too…and the MSFs…God I need to shut this collection out of my head now!

any idea of that those brushes might be?

Em Avatar

I kinda like the packaging! yeah its kinda childish but its based on a comic!! Its appropriate. And its look like there’s more effort gone into it, VV just looked like they’d slapped a photo onto the side of an ordinary container. and forgotten to add the matt finish.

Mari Avatar

The coral blush and the msfs look very pretty but the packaging is horrible yucky and cheap :(. I would prefer the regular MAC packaging over something like this. Thanks Cristine!

Kelly Marie Avatar

I think one of the best things about MAC is that they have something to appeal to everybody. I’ve never been into Wonder Woman but I think some of the products look great and the packaging, while maybe not my cup of tea, is EXACTLY what you’d expect for this collection! Don’t complain if you don’t like it…just don’t buy it! 😛

AshBash Avatar

i saw this earlier today and was half hoping it wasnt authentic…but it is. im not shocked b/c of how venemous villians looked. i wish they would have put more effort into the bags for the brush sets and stuff. that looks the cheapest and costume-y. marine ultra will probably be the only thing i pick up from this launch.

Brian McD aka Roulette Avatar

OMG..Im freaking out, so excited. LOL. I kinda hate to admit it but I kinda don’t really like the packaging…Was definately more excited reading product descriptions that looking at actual photos. We will see. Yay for new MSF’s.

cyndi Avatar

hi christine i know this is off topic but on macs website for mickey contractor it says theyre coming soon with some of the sold out items? ive never seen that before on macs website are they restocking it?

Dawn Avatar

The penultimate liner is enormous lol. Can’t quite imagine using it. The lipglasses, too, are somewhat ‘oversized’ and as such probably considerably more expensive than normal (not to mention the big applicator).

Can’t wait to see swatches of the eyeshadows and lip colours. If I didn’t already have Russian Red, I would definitely have bought that one, though (assuming the lipsticks are regular sized).

DizzyChris Avatar

I was actually hoping for better packaging, less on the retro comic book style. Especially since Wonder Woman’s costume was redesigned into a more mature, sophisticated look (much less skimpy than her original costume) back in June. I was hoping that the packaging would reflect that.

Disappointed, but will probably pick up a couple of items; I really like the colors of products.

Amy P Avatar

What I’m afraid of is that people who love comics will skip this collection because of the outdated packaging, and DC will be all like “see, women hate comics” and stop doing cool collaborations like this. sigh

DizzyChris Avatar

I think that a lot of people will be skipping this because of the packaging, it reminds me a lot of the Venomous Villains packaging, although I will admit that this is just slightly better.

The problem with the packaging is that it is so very retro; it doesn’t reflect the current look of comics today. I’m not so sure that DC will look at this and say that women don’t like comics, comic companies have always been somewhat aware of their female fanbases; but it will probably stop them from doing another collaboration with MAC or any other cosmetic company. It might also stop other comic companies from doing a similar collaboration. (I really like the idea of a X-men heroine collection.)

Dawn Avatar

I’m more disappointed that they’ve seen fit to “redesign” Wonder Woman, just as they seem to do with everything. Lynda Carter IS Wonder Woman to most people, and as an over-40 myself I remember watching her on TV. There’s no way I’m even going to bother watching anything that has the new WW image, as it will have ruined it for me.

As such, I love the packaging for this collection, with maybe the exception of the marker pen eyeliner.

Edelmc Avatar

I like the look of the coloured mascaras and the purple quad but I like my collection all slick and black so I don’t think I will anything from the wonder woman collection

kpenn09 Avatar

I rarely let the packaging of a product dissuade me from purchasing it, but this packaging is actually so horrible that I doubt I’ll be purchasing much (if anything) from this collection. At most I see myself purchasing a quad, since I usually pack those away and they’re all different colours anyway.

ChristineD Avatar

The packaging is Horrendous….I expected better from MAC…I kind of dig the pink eyeshadow pallette as I love me a good pink but everything else is a pass…

Angela Avatar

I thought this collection was gonna be awesome looking with the packaging… WHAT HAPPENED MAC!? It’s so tacky and child-looking like everyone else is saying.

Big Disappointment. =(

Angela Avatar

Yeah. I wish it had cool shiny metallic to it like in the inside of the lipsticks (the part with the big star on it)… That would help the packaging a ton. Make it more chic & fun at the same time. =)

kasiaj85 Avatar

Big dislike for the packaging but some colors look amazing… So happy that it will be released internationally!!!
Want the quads, 2 lipsticks, one msf and the green and purple mascaras!

Ruth Avatar

I think the packaging could be better if there was some variance in it, but overall, I really like the looks of this. But I like bright colours, especially primary colours. Think I’ll want an eyeshadow quad, a mascara and perhaps an msf.

Julie Avatar

I. AM. LOVING. THIS!
Well most of the collection is a pass on my behalf because I wouldn’t know how to work the colours of the products. But seriously! This packaging is cute! A lot of people have been saying that they were hoping for a cool limited edition special packaging, and look what they got! I will be the first one to admit that I don’t exactly love blue, red and yellow together, but this is Wonder Woman! What did you expect them to do? Slap on a sticker like they did with the Venomous Villains collection? I bet a lot of people would have been more disappointed with that. 🙂 I’m definitely picking something up from this collection, it’s too cool to pass up!

BTW Christine, are the colours of the Valiant Eyeshadow Quad limited edition or permanent?

Ani_BEE Avatar

I still would have loved the just seen the double W on these in embedded gold but I have to agree that colours are perfect for this colection.

I like the lipstick packaging but I’m trying to keep to my lipstick no-buy this year and non of the shades tempt me.

Pamela Avatar

Stuck inside during a New England snowstorm and DH can’t get a flight home from FL but Temptalia made my day! The packaging is superb! Less than a month away! The wish list will be a long one!

Mary Avatar

This collection looks amazing. The packaging may seem a little tacky but I really don’t care, so long as the actual product is good. Can’t wait for your reviews on these Christine.

Laura Avatar

Eh – I’m not really excited by this, disappointingly. The Valiant quad sounds very nice, and I might grab another backup of Marquise D’ as it’s gorgeous, but apart from that…I”m not feeling it. I guess I’ll wait for swatches though.

I can’t decide if I hate the packaging because it’s undeniably tacky, or if I kinda like it in a kitsch way! Leaning towards the former.

Marcela Avatar

Wonder Woman was before my time (70s and I was born in 85) and I don’t recall ever watching the animated series as a kid, but this looks like a really fun collection! I love how the package design sticks true to Wonder Woman (which would otherwise just be really tacky). I’m really curious about the colored mascaras and the blush duos.

eden Avatar

eeeewwwwwww what are thoes minralised skinfinishes !!!! i prefer the clossic ones ill get them at a CCO but now way paying full prive, packaging is CHEAP, the only think im interested in is the blush duo :/ sorry mac yet again a dissapointment 🙁

DonnaN Avatar

Wow, suprisingly, there’s only a few things that interest me—Mighty Aphrodite blush duo, Golden Lariat MSF and two of the colored mascaras….everything else is a pass for me. Saving for SURF BABY in May….

Aude Mai Avatar

Bahaha I was scared that this collection was gonna be like the Disney one (sold out two minutes after the launching !!) And now I read all of these comments like ‘ooh I dont like the packaging’ ‘ooh Id be ashamed to use a lipstick out in public’ ‘ooh Im buing anything’ !! Cheers !!
Od.

parris Avatar

Lol as much as everyone is saying that they hate it I still expect it to sell out like the disney collection. Personally I’m loving it. So I will be haunting the site when the release date comes just in case : )

Kaitlin Avatar

I think the packaging shows how bold and iconic wonder woman is. It may just be a social commentary on strong, bold, fearless women, and that’s why it’s so intense.

Mac ALWAYS makes good quality makeup.
Don’t fret, I think this should be a good product–packaging and all.

Megan Avatar

why does everyone always complain about the packaging? Everyone said the Venomous Villains packaging was not really enough and this is too tacky? It’s wonder woman, of course it’s going to look very cartoon-ish. I think MAC did a good job with this. I’m excited!

Amanda Avatar

I agree!! I think is fun!! I grew up on Wonder Woman, and any girl who did should love to be able to whip out a Wonder Woman compact from the purse!! LOL!!! I think MAC did a great job! When you do “theme” packaging like this its never really going to look high end….its just for fun 🙂

Eleonora Avatar

I agree in the packaging. Seems quite shabby for such a collection.
The potential could have been developed so much better.
But anyway I’m curious about the navy nail polish the blu-toned eye-shadow quad and Athena’s kiss lipglass.

Tania Avatar

I actually like the packaging, but then again I’ve always loved comic book heroines! There’s something kitchy and fun about it. The packaging is definitely more for the collector in me and the product for the make up lover in me.

Can’t wait for swatches!

Nympho Avatar

I don’t care what anyone says. I have always loved Wonder Woman and the packaging is really awesome and creative. It doesn’t look tacky or cheap to me. But it may perceive to be childish because OBVIOUSLY most of us grew up watching her as a child. I know I will be buying from this collection more for its product than the packaging itself but the packaging is just another added perk. I love how the ENTIRE collection has the special packaging. I would love to pull out a compact in public with Wonder Woman, it will make me feel like a super hero 😉

z Avatar

I think the packaging reflects the true essence of the comic book series, but to each his own. I will definitely be purchasing something after I see the swatches and dupe comparisons. Very Cool. Christine, you are amazing. Where do you find the time to study, take care of the dog, eat, sleep, and handle the blog, oh and maybe have time for yourself. I will be the first to sign up for you’re multi-tasking class and tutorials. I hope you know how special you are. You are an independent women who can take care of herself!!!! INCREDIBLE!

Saflee Avatar

I think I’m one of the few who actually like the packaging. The only things I’m keen on getting is the penultimate liner. I loved wonder woman growing up.

Can’t wait for more pictures and swatches– might end up adding to the liner.

Trish Avatar

Not loving the packaging on this. Yes, it is based on a comic-book character but not an excuse for how tacky it looks. I’ll probably pick up the blue pigment as it’s a PRO color but everything else isn’t for me.

NatalieK Avatar

hmmm i’m excited for the colored mascaras because i missed the lauder ones last year (or was it ’09?) that were supposedly really good, but we shall see how good these ones are. also while i’m not in LOVE with the packaging, wonder woman’s colors ARE red and blue and gold, and she IS pretty kitschy so the packaging seems to fit. admittedly i didn’t try very hard or long, but i can’t really think of anything that could make this collection more lady-like or elegant…maybe if the compacts were gold instead of red with a more subtle logo? hmmm, i’m on the fence about this collection. good thing christine is on top of reviewing these collections!

Biddi_NZ Avatar

I personally LOVE IT, the packaging n all, it’s supost to look in your face, it based off a comic book!! There is nothing sleek or demure about Wonder Women she is in your face and will kick your butt! I think this collection embodys everything she is and stays true to that

Lucie Avatar

Oh wow, everything looks great! I bet it will sell out faster than Venemous Villians though. Have to grab those eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks as soon as they hit the webiste. The packaging looks cheap because MAC is pretty cheap, seems fun to me. A luxery wonder woman lipstick would be weird imo, it should be young and fun and not too bent on appearences.

Katie Avatar

You really think more people out there like a cheesy 70’s TV show than Disney?

How can Wonder Woman be “young and fun” when the show is so old and no one under 30 ever even saw it?

Leslie Avatar

Wonder Woman was not just part of a cheesy 70’s sitcom. She’s a comic book superhero! Much like Superman or Batman. She was someone that little girls could see and say wow a woman can be just as strong and smart as men. She was created in 1940 (41?) and is still an icon to comic book fans and non-comic book fans alike. Can you imagine how groundbreaking it was for a major icon to emerge in a time when women were still widely criticized for wanting to be independent and educated.

Yes the packaging is a bit cheesy, esp. for those that are not fans, because you will not feel a fans sense of nostalgia. But if you are not a fan then you could simply say the packaging is cheap and unfortunately I won’t be buying anything. I firmly believe in “to each their own” but your comment was harsh and unnecessary.

And yes she is still popular, so she is young and fun. With all the superhero movies released lately my daughter fell in love instantly with the idea of a superwoman! Comics are in again and just because they experienced a lull in the 90’s doesn’t mean there isn’t a fan base. Without one, a major company (MAC), wouldn’t bother doing a collaboration. Especially one this huge!

Christine Avatar

I’m interested in the Defiance Quad. I’d prefer it was in a square case, but if the packaging is really aweful I can just depot and put it into a square one myself. Thanks for posting this information!

Judy Avatar

Holy cow! Stuff looks amazing. I’m a little disappointed because another website said their was a purple-grape colored lipstick in this collection. I am loving the coloured mascaras! I may have to get one. I wanted to wait for the Zoom Coloured mascaras coming out in May. Maybe I’ll get one from this and one from the other. Hmmm. I like to blush duos as well. Oh MAC…why oh why….

isla Avatar

i love this…although i could buy the normal Russian Red i will buy it in this packaging because my inner geek wont let me pass up on this ! 🙂

Torill Avatar

SUCH a disappointment! I LOVE som of those products, and I really want them so bad. But the packaging is stopping me. I wish they had a more classy-looking packaging, this just makes me sad and frustrated 🙁

kelliegonzo Avatar

actually, unlike a lot of the other commentors, i like the the packaging better than the colors! i might pick up the lacquers just for the cute LE look 🙂 plus, wonder women is of course DOPE!

Meredith Avatar

I dunno, I don’t hate the packaging, but I can imagine some better ideas for it, too. Either way–it’s a Wonder Woman collection, it’s gotta be somewhat kitschy. I’m more concerned with the products, anyway, but considering how many collections MAC puts out, I can see a reason for skipping a MAC product based on unappealing packaging.

So I guess I can see both sides on this one!

Valerie A. Avatar

When I first saw these, I kinda of threw up I my mouth. But I am super glad that they stuck with wonder womans colors and the more I look at them the more they grow on me. I kind of just want all the compacts. I agree with the person that said they look like party favors haha

Lily Miramontes Avatar

I think that people who are hating the packaging must have had a bad childhood and not read comic book or watch the TV show ….. I so there , buying everyhting

Nichole Avatar

I agree. It seems Wonder Woman fans are getting offended at those that don’t like the packaging. I wasn’t into comics as a kid, but I watched the TV show with Linda Carter and loved it. I was looking forward to seeing the designs on the product, but they used the same logo on everything. I think that is the crappy part. It looks as if the box may have a better design than what is on the actual product (similar to Disney). I didn’t mind the Disney packaging at all (wore Sinister lipstick today), but liked the box better. They could have put drawings reminiscent of the comic or updated/retro version of the TV show on the product. Something else other than the plain logo.

Maybe it would’ve cost Mac more money for the rights to put extra stuff on the product itself. That would increase the cost and we would complain about that.

KayDi-Kat Avatar

I am not a fan of the packaging so my wallet is happy. I think it’s cool how you either love it or hate it :). That said, IF I get anything from this collection, it would be the 2 nail polishes. I def won’t be bringing those out in public! Can’t wait to see swatches 🙂

Natalie Avatar

There are lots of lovely things I like here… but I HATE the packaging, I wouldn’t want to get one of those lipsticks out in public! (Which is a shame because I really want Marquise D’)

Marcela Avatar

I think people are exaggerating, the package looks nice, they use the colors of Wonder Woman, what else do you guys want?? Anyways, I actually do like it, I think they did a very nice job incorporating the colors of Wonder Woman with the MAC logo, it looks actually better than “The Venomous Villains” collection. But even if I didn’t like the package I would still buy it. I* feel that it’s the inside that counts. =-)

Michelle Avatar

I saw a video posted on youtube by someone that had gotten the collection (not sure what country she’s in) The applicator for the glosses is GIGANTIC!! It is at least twice the size as the normal ones. Why in the world would they do that? Because Wonder Woman is an Amazon?? I don’t get it.

Kelly C. Avatar

I’m actually really excited about this collection! Some of the colors are really pulling at me, and feel like the packaging is perfect for the theme. Wonder Woman is cartoon, what were people expecting?!

Bronzilla Avatar

OMG OMG THESE ARE AWESOME, and I will buy nearly everything! People chill, really, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it. As mentioned before at least it’s not a slapped-on sticker like VV! I for one am GRATEFUL MAC went with the retro Wonder Woman rather than the “modern” generic antihero Wonder Woman.

If you don’t like Wonder Woman, and/or you don’t like comics in general, this collection is simply not for you and I honestly don’t believe you’re the target audience for this anyway, no offense. Save your money for the next collection (Surf Baby?) and let the rest of us squee over this one! Makeup is supposed to be fun, and if it’s not for you, no need to blast it for everyone else. 🙂

Julie Avatar

I agree with this! It’s definitely a fun collection, and I too am glad they went with the original Wonder Woman! Wouldn’t have been right if they didn’t. 🙂

Valerie Avatar

Is this a promotion for some amateur wrestling show? Is it just me or does her chest have the emblem of “World Wrestling Federation”? Sorry department stores, but I’m not buying this one IF YOU SELLLLLLLLLL, WHAT THE MAC is COOKING!

Christine Dalum Avatar

OH MY GOD. I haven’t been this excited since I saw the promo pictures for Venomous Villains! This looks freaking amazing?! And the packaging looks superb with all those colors! 😀 I’m in love already! Please, by God, let this collection come to Denmark 🙂

Geek Faerie Avatar

I cannot wait to get my hands on this!! Christine I am so jealous of you. You will get a fantastic promo of this before the rest of the Wonder Woman fan girls. Lucky girl! I am going to get every single piece. Wonder Woman is my girl and I have been waiting for this to come out since I first heard about it last year!! YAY!!!

Chelsea H. Avatar

I am super excited about this collection! The packaging is what I expected. It really does make you think “Wonder Woman.” I hope to buy the Defiance palette!

Chynna Avatar

I’m a huge Wonder Woman fan and this is going to be costly. I understand the complaints about the packaging, but I see it as classic comic book style.

Lily Avatar

Darn I was really looking forward to this collection but I feel a bit disappointed =/ I do think I want a pigment & perhaps a Mineralize Skinfinish but otherwise this is a bit of a let down.

& I agree with everyone that has said so, but the packaging is awful D:

melissa Avatar

I dont know what people were expecting from the packaging, it is very true to the original comic series… I think its unique and not typical MAC packaging, and I love that they are doing something different and cheese-balling it up! Even if its not the most attractive, it is still very fun and very authentic to the theme of the products

Zenia Avatar

This is ridiculous. I think rather than coming up with collections that mean something to it’s customers and are uality products, MAC is just churning out collection after collection and skimping out on quality and overall attractiveness. BOO MAC!

Alannah Avatar

Wow, that looks like Michael Allred art to me (which is weird, because I wasn’t aware he did anything with Wonder Woman)!

I don’t think much of this collection, really… kind of “meh” in my opinion!

Via Avatar

I agree, not feeling the packaging either. I am kinda disappointed, nothing really stands out for me. Of course after I see the swatches I might change my mind. I may get the Golden Lauriat skin finish but so far nothing else strikes me. Thanks for posting. I can’t wait for the Surf Baby collection!!!

Cynthia M. Avatar

is it me or is MAC becoming all about promoting other brands?? i don’t like where MAC is heading and hope that they get their act together and stick to the basics of what their known for which is quality makeup and that’s it! i LOVE my MAC but come on…

Katie Avatar

MAC collabs don’t bother me that much. I understand collab with a designer because it makes sense as both have an understanding of beauty and aesthetics.

I also understand collabs with brands like Disney and Hello Kitty because they are ubiquitous and popular with the same demographic MAC targets.

But a collab that showcases a character mainly known from a cheesy TV that no one under 30 was alive to watch….I’m confused.

Ashley Avatar

It seems like everyone has a complaint about collection packaging! I thought VV was adorable so was Hello Kitty. What do people expect? They’re cartoons, of course they’re going to look cute and colorful! Peackocky, and Champale are gorgeous colors but I’d rather have a cute tube of lipstick than a black one!

Dana Avatar

The packaging definitely looks cheap, looks like candy or a toy, but it does match the campy theme of Wonder Woman.

I don’t really care about packaging that much in general so I will be checking this collection out when it hits the stores. I am especially interested in the Blush Duos and MSF’s.

darcel Avatar

I have to say as of right now I am loving alot of the items ….I know i’ll be getting a whoooole lot fron this collection especially those Msf’s …..ahhhhhh I cant wait!

Lady Di. Avatar

I hate the red packaging too but I will probably still get the 2 blushes and skin finishes. Maybe one of the lipsticks too because I like the shades. It just all looks so tacky to me. And that Penultimate liner is the worst product ever IMO!! I wish they didn’t add it to this collection….or any collection for that matter!

nicci Avatar

it’s bright which isn’t bad but it almost looks fake? Looks like cheap plastic. MAC & sophisticated/classy packaging don’t mesh well together…foreign concept.

Jessica Avatar

I am 31 and I love the packaging.I think everyone forgets that this is MAC,and what is so great about them is that they do packaging differently. If I wanted boring makeup and packaging I would buy Clinique.I am very glad MAC did the packaging this way,it is HOT.

karen Avatar

The only thing I can see myself getting is Wonder Woman lipglass. I just can’t believe how huge some of these products are, the lipglasses and the eyeliner are like double size. I imagine the price will be larger as well.

Annick Chantal L. H. Avatar

Ah lalalalala… how will I survive???!!!??? packaging apart (which is so so) I need these nail lacquers, a msf, one blush, the pigment marine ultra, the lipglass secret identity and emancipation, lipstick heroine and the valiant quad….. que faire!!!! (what to do!!) if my wish-list is so long with 9 items…

Katie Avatar

i don’t think the packaging is horrible but it could be better. i do like the packaging on the lipsticks. probably gonna pick up the lipgloss in wonder woman.

califabulous Avatar

I think the packaging is perfect for the wonderwoman theme-but I still hate it! I’m loving the item colors-e/s quads and blushers. and I have been waiting for new MSF’s. Still, I wish the packaging showcased the sophisticated side of Wonder Woman-how can i pull this out of my bag in public?!

Sarah Avatar

Oh my goodness,I’ve been waiting for Reflects Bronze, but I don’t know about this packaging… Would it be terrible if I held out until I could get it in something better looking? Haha, this looks awful! MAC is doing a giant raspberry in the face of Good Taste right now.

Lolly Avatar

The packaging looks terrible, very hard on the eyes. I was kinda looking forward to this but I dunno now could I be looking at those colours in my make-up cupboard.

Nastassia Avatar

Packaging is NOT the best, but i’ll wait untill you have swatches/photos up to comment some more! i’m excited though! I thought i was going to go crazy like VV but from the looks of it i don’t think so!! =/

Tina Avatar

I like this collection. I don’t know what is wrong about the packaging. I agree that Wonder Woman is a comic and the packaging looks very comic like, it’s eye catching.

mia Avatar

What is everyone shouting about? the packaging is gorgeous! maybe not chanel classic no but the idea is that it reflects the collection, the same with disney villans.

Embrace differences people!

Anhchi Nguyen Avatar

As a comic book nerd and everything geek, I have no problem with the packaging, but then again I’m a nerd for that. I think people make assumptions with the pictures and the packaging until they try them out in person and they change their minds about the collection. Until I see the swatches and the quality of the product the only I might want are the lipsticks, lipglass, and the mirror, but I have to see them in person first. Again don’t make assumptions with the collection until you see it in person (for all non-geeks and comic books nerds girls); it’s like the same with the Hello Kitty and the Venomous Villains collection (those were the biggest collection that MAC have recently released).

Sorry for my very long rant……

Hannah Avatar

Exactly! I hate it when people look at the packaging and say : “Oh this looks terrible and so cheap! Im skipping”- when they havent even looked at the swatches etc. And then when they buy a bunch of stuff from the collection? Save some for the people who actually like the collection, please!

Rosie Avatar

Okay, people thought VV looked cheap and tacky but this takes the cake, man. This is tacky as heck. I’m sorry but I don’t want my makeup looking like some teenage boy fantasy. Geek boys will love you though! Comicon lovers unite!

Katie Avatar

Wow. The packaging is worse than Venomous Villains. The pink and purple quad looks interesting, but I honestly will not buy anything because of the gross packaging.

I can see a commonality in terms of demographics when it comes to collaborations between MAC and Hello Kitty or Disney…but some comic book character? Is there really a huge segment of the makeup loving community that also loves comic books? I dunno, this collab just baffles me.

sara Avatar

I love the packaging. The only thing I’m really interested in is the polish (because I’m not much of a makeup girl otherwise), and I love those bottles. Super cute. I’m looking forward to swatches.

PerpetualBliss Avatar

I don’t understand the complaints about the packaging … it’s not meant to be elegant and ladylike like traditional MAC packaging – its a fun collection based of a kids cartoon character!!! I love it, the nail polish bottle will look great in my collection

elise Avatar

This collection is based on a cartoon so what kind of packaging wore people expecting? Wonder Woman cartoon, Wonder Woman colors, so MAC did the packaging just like it should be. It’s based on a cartoon people so it’s meant to look like this! It is made retro like the original character. What wore people expecting? When it was hello kitty it was too Hello kittish, now it is a collection based on a retro cartoon, but it is too cartoon and too retro. I don’t get it. So if there was a collection based on bugs than people would complain that the packaging had bugs on it? Anyways, sorry and i don’t want to make anyone mad but i just don’t get this and personally I think it’s a 100% accurate.

Kaylyn Avatar

Christine, I just want to say thank you for all that you do!
I like the packaging! It looks….comic bookish. I am very excited for this collection, although my wallet is not:(

Katie Avatar

I wish MAC would consider a historically inspired collection. I would love to see posters and products based on ancient Egypt, Tudor England, court culture at Versailles, etc.

Contact me MAC, I have a ton of ideas! LOL. MAC seems to be relying on exploiting on the childhood nostalgia of 20-somethings (Disney, Hello Kitty, Barbie)…and now they are scraping the bottom of the barrel with niche, cult figures from the 70’s.

Come on MAC.

Lilac Avatar

That sounds like a lovely idea, I would like to see especially British and French historically themed collections. In those you can also integrate all the powders and blushes very well.

On WW, it is probably fine for the theme but not my cup of tea, I hate red and yellow and this reminds me of McDonalds 😀

Ester Avatar

Wow, I’m really liking the packaging, they used a lot of color and not just a cheap sticker on the regular black packaging. There aren’t too many items that I’d want though.

hannagrrl Avatar

You know what? If you plan to depot them, just don’t buy them. Buy them from me instead. Tell me what you want, I’ll dupe it myself and sell it to you in a jar of YOUR choice! And look! NO WASTED PLASTIC!

Julia Avatar

I think these are the same quads as the Hello Kitty collection, and I depotted those. It took work though– a good heat source, an exacto knife, and mini wire cutters. And patience!

hannagrrl Avatar

Comic books and collections like these are supposed to be about having FUN with your grown-up make up… Ladies, really… where’s your sense of FUN???

Christine Avatar

Umm… WOE! (What ON Earth!) MAC is getting really childish with their packaging. I’d be embarrassed to use any of these products in public. People might think it was pretend makeup that came free with a happy meal at McDonalds.

Carrie Ann Avatar

I personally love the look of this packaging. (I think it’ll probably look better in person.) I think they’re doing the character and comic fans justice. I mean, how sophisticated did people think a collection based on a comic book character would look? It just looks really fun and it seems like they’ve gone all-out with this collection. I’m excited about the MSFs and I love that they’ve even put her logo on the Pigment jars.

ashlie Avatar

Me too! The pigments look amazing! I think i’m gonna get the glitters, they were on my wishlist anyway, so i may aswell get them with the amazing packaging. Honestly can’t wait for this! 🙂

Karyn Avatar

I do believe that I am going to do the same thing that I did with the MAC Hello Kitty collection: Buy the WHOLE DARN THING.

I’m actually really glad they kept it old school & retro. 95% of people who know Wonder Woman think of her in these outfits, not the “upgrade” they recently did. Thanks for being on the ball with this Christine!

liz Avatar

I actually like the packaging. it is bright and bold and reminiscent of the classic graphic novels. if i didn’t despise MAC products so much, i would be really tempted to buy from this on packaging/sentiment and spirit of wonder woman alone

Laura Avatar

Wow I didn’t realize how massive this collection was, all those quads and msfs and glitter and colored mascara AND nail polish! I’m totally overwhelmed, but I’m not really digging the WWF style packaging, it might grow on me tho…as always Christine, thanks for the info!

Jay Avatar

I agree with everyone else regarding the “super” LAME packaging…but what I really wonder is how Wonder Woman had an encounter with Medusa?? lol

Bridget Avatar

I have to say that I think the packaging looks fun! It does look childish, but I think that’s the point, really. Although I have to say I’m not sure why they made everything jumbo sized…I think that’s a bit silly personally. The penultimate liner looks cute I think, like a child’s felt tip pen! But I understand it might not be to everyone’s taste 🙂

Jennifer G. Avatar

OMG!!! I can’t wait till this is released, I’m running to Mac to pick it up!!! I’ve spinning around in my living room and humming the tune. Packaging could be better but it brings back great memories so I will buy it out of nostalgia.

DM Avatar

Not to be rude but are they kidding? This looks more like something from one of those kiddie stores like Justice. Skipping this and am really puzzled by the juvenile MAC themes lately.

Norlite Avatar

of course the packaging looks cheap and childish. It’s cartoons and comic books. MAC seems to be appealing to tweens with these collections, not grown women. I know they won’t be in my bag to pull out for touch ups in the washroom at work. In fact, they remind me of that TV commercial a few years ago when that guy pulls out a Superman MC to pay for a business meeting.

Crystal S. Avatar

I’m excited for the blushes and maybe a quad but that packaging looks like a cheap Rite – Aid dollar junk toy. This is an area I feel MAC consistently falls short in. The undermine awesome concepts with really cheap sub par packaging, Dame Edna, Fafi, Villains, THIS thing. And I don’t know, something about having Wonder Woman flying through lipsticks to me really turns her into this weak figure…

Lu Avatar

They should have just stuck with the “WW” logo with the wings, not the actual “Wonder Woman” words. I also think a “filmstrip” of comic book clips with the old fashioned dots making up the pigmentation would have looked cooler- maybe spiraled around the packaging on the lipglasses and lipsticks. I am just imagining an actual GOLD compact with the “WW” logo on the front. How cool would that have been? Powders could have had her “star” embossed right on them. I guess I was imagining what “Wonder Woman” might have used.

I am still excited about the blue mascara and the pink power MSF. I have to look at the lipstick in person.

Ariel Avatar

I dislike the packaging and the colors, but it just occurred to me that MAC has so many new collections that each one isn’t supposed to appeal to everyone. Like, I bet a lot of people who liked Tartan Tale theme didn’t like the Villains theme, etc….it’s sort of nice that there’s something for everyone.

califabulous Avatar

good point. I think that’s a great way to look at it. It appears some commenters are getting personally offended if others like or dislike??? Buy what you want or don’t. KIM (keep it moving). thx.

Shannon Avatar

maybe i’m crazy but i find this downright ugly LOL. that liquid liner pen, i can totally see kids thinking it’s a regular pen and using it. hell i’d probably mistake it for a jazzed up sharpie or something

laura Avatar

arghhhh … now I understand how important is packaging!! Here it’s terrible…. Maybe I’ll buy a mineralize skinfinish if it has a very good quality

Leiris Avatar

It’s weird all the comments about packaging b/c it’s Wonder Woman! It’s a comic book, so the packaging reflects a retro comic feel.
The MSF sound pretty, so I could be interested in those.

rebecca d Avatar

the packaging is perfect Wonder Woman! She’s not a glam character, she’s kitschy. It does look like old school comic book colors, love it. Wonder Woman fans are often very traditionalist when it comes to her look, so the packaging caters to them.
Gonna have a lot of geek guys buying these!!

emily Avatar

the msf’s and blush duos look good.. but seriously im with everyone else the packaging looks like $2 shop.
im purely buying because im scared i will miss out on good shades…. im exactly what mac want!

Ruth Avatar

I can’t believe how disappointed I am, I love Wonder woman, grew up watching her. This is a disgrace, the packaging looks so cheap, shame on you MAC.

VJNS Avatar

I was so excited to hear of the line, but there’s not much I actually want. Perhaps the mascaras? Not crazy about the packaging either. They could have made it less cartoony and more sophisticated. Such as more gold in the packaging since she uses it quite a bit – not yellow. Afterall, she IS wonder Woman not wonder girl.

Hilary Avatar

I think the packaging does look a little cheap. I think MAC could have made it look a little better like in Hello Kitty where they made the packaging glossy. But I really like the Emancipation lipglass, Marquise D’ lipstick (which I didnt get my hands on when it first came out) and the makeup accessories.

Angel Avatar

AAAHHHHHH OMG YES. packaging is wack but you guys have to realize that Wonder Woman is a comic book character… so I think it’s suitable in this case LOL.
definitely will be getting some<3

Wendy Avatar

This is easily the worst collection MAC has ever put out… Aside from the packaging being HORRID, the color range is average at best. And I hate to say it but I would be embarrassed to pull out the mirror or lipstick while out. I see that MAC is going through the dollar storesque phase. Venomous Villains looked like childs makeup and I really didn’t think it could get worse. This takes the cake.

Melody & Jezebel Avatar

I LOVE Wonder Woman, grew up watching her on TV as THE only female kick-ass superhero. What a great reminder. While the packaging may not be the glam-est to pull out of my makeup bag everyday, some of the colours look great. It’s about how the product looks on, not the packages in my makeup bag…will indulge in a piece or two.

Leah Jordan Avatar

I’m really not sure what to think. I do like the look of some of the products – regardless of packaging. If it was normal packaging I would pick up a few of these (and infact have with the permanent products). I do Like the packaging but as with VV I can see through the graphics and childish plastic-ness of it all.

Caitlin Avatar

Ergg… so cheap looking!
The packaging is just so horrible… I’m totally skipping on this. 🙁
Christine… I was just wondering… do you like the packaging or do you hate it?
lol…
Thanks for the post though! 🙂

stephanie Avatar

i love this packaging!! makeup packaging doesn’t always have to be super girly…i’m glad to see something not pink and bedazzled, but rather bold, powerful. can’t wait to purchase!!

michelle Avatar

Are all of you teenagers here and have no clue about the original Wonder Woman? I think the packaging it AWESOME. I’m guessing that MAC was inspired by the old comics of WW. It may look tacky because it’s so colorful, but that was the point. To make it look like the comics. I will definitely be picking up a few products from this collection!!

Jean Avatar

LoL, not a teenager here but I grew up abroad. It’s personally not my preference, I suppose largely because I have no WW memories, but I do appreciate what they did with the collection and totally understand that people with more of a connection to WW would really appreciate it. I like comics as well but I grew up in Asia so comics for me isn’t Marvel or DC, it’s what people here call ‘manga.’ Anyways glad you’re enjoying the collection and hope you get everything you want! 🙂

Haley Avatar

Wow! a lot of people seem to hate the packaging. Personally, I think it’s really cool. It may look kinda cheap and it could be a little more classy and grown up but come on! It’s supposed to be fun and exciting! Just like Wonder Woman! Take a look at the comic pictures (especially the one with the makeup flying everywhere). It fits perfectly! It’s supposed to look like something WW herself would use. I’m 14 and I like the packaging. not because I’m childish, but because its exactly what it’s supposed to be! MAC has come out with some cheap-looking packaging in the past, yes. But I think this is perfect. The only reason I probably won’t be buying from this collection is because I’m not very interested in the colors. And that’s all that should matter anyway.

Jenna Avatar

I think this is the first time I’ve actually disliked MAC packaging. It’s usually either cute or sleek, but this just looks tacky and childish.

Angie Avatar

I personally like the collection and the colors. It doesnt look cheap or tacky to me, it looks old school like the way we know wonder woman was. Funny how peeps said the same thing about the Villains and it sold out right away, not to mention Christine’s poll Villains was #1. Yes were all entited to our opinions, but I gots to keep it real!!

Ruby Bemis Avatar

I have to say I disagree with what a lot of people are saying about the packaging. I LOVE it! It’s Wonder Woman for gosh sake! She’s a cartoon from a comic book and I think the colorful and fun packaging displays that well.

Pamela Avatar

I kinda like the packaging…I wish her image or face was on some of the packaging tho. I dont rememember pigments/glitters coming in any special packaging before, thats kinda cool. I wish Mac would come out with a Poision Ivy Collection…I would buy everything single thing LOL.

Jean Avatar

Haha you know what? I think I would actually like a Poison Ivy collection, if they do right by her I mean. But even more than that I would be really excited to see some Tim Burton collaborations though I cannot imagine for the life of me how that would happen/ what in the world the products would end up being…

liana Avatar

Looks like Hulk Hogan designed the packaging in the 90’s. Couldn’t Mac put a little more creativity in these designs? Hello Kitty and Liberty of London were way nicer. Too bad, theres some nice colours. Might just pick up one or two things.

Tania Avatar

I think the whole point is that these are Wonder Woman’s gadgets, hence the “utility belt” and “invisible mirror”, like in the 4th picture (the products fit in perfectly into the comic). It’s like we get to have Wonder Woman’s stuff!
It’s definitely gimmicky and kitschy, but I love it! hehe. By the way, I’m in my early 20’s.

Eliza Avatar

Ok, the packaging looks REAALLL cheap and kid like. Oddly enough, I want to have something, at LEAST one thing from this collection, to say I have it…. I’m looking at the baby pink lipglass, Christine, when will you know the prices?

Rachael Avatar

The packaging is not that great… but I think that the colors are actually quite nice. I am very excited for the colored mascara especially. I LOVE purple mascara b/c when you wear that on your bottom lashes (when you have lighter eyes) it really makes your eyes POP. I also like that almost everything is a limited edition. Thank you for sharing. I will def be checking this line out despite what the packaging looks like.

Karlie Tipton Avatar

Actually, I take back my previous statement. This collection is growing on me. I’ll definitely pick up a couple things. Can’t wait to see swatches!

Jessica Avatar

The packaging looks like 70’s toys, but I think that’s the point. It may look cheap, but it goes with the theme. You can put these in your old Wonder Woman lunchboxes and they’d match!
I see a few things I would like to try out, but I’m glad I’m not going crazy over the whole collection. I’ve spent enough money on MAC LE collections!

Graciela Avatar

I was a bit disappointed by the lack of creativity for the disney villains collection but this seems spot on with the feel of classic wonder woman. MAC always has the permanent collection if this isn’t people’s style but I think this collection is fun.

morena123 Avatar

OMG I want those mascaras!!! The Blue and purple!
I’m usually always excited to see the pigments but nothing in tis collection is new. SO eh.
I also thought the packaging looked cheap.
andWHY did they create another brush set well wonder how good in quality these are!

Cherokee Avatar

I am so there. I want one of everything. I so heart wonder woman. I even had her costume when I was little girl. So so so loving this. Thanks Christine.

Cherokee Avatar

This just took me way back to when I was a little girl and innocent and times were different. Love the kiddish packaging because it makes it more authentic. Because I don’t drop a lot of money on collections I really am going to enjoy this. These would be great gifts for all of us who are beauty lovers and kids at heart.

Jae Avatar

I love the packaging!!! This is so retro and drags me back kicking and screaming to my childhood. Thanks for the trip down amnesia lane. I am sad that these colors don’t seem anything amazing, but that could change once actual products can be swatched. I’m keeping optimistic. I have a feeling I’ll end up getting something just because I absolutely love the packaging even if I never use it.

Elle Avatar

I actually think it looks pretty cool. It’s packaging based on a 70’s superheroine. Were y’all expecting gilded compacts with mother-of-pearl inlays, a la Guerlain? It’s MAC’s interpretation of the 70’s. It works for me.

SiaM Avatar

I do like all of it, but I do hope the products have great pigmentation specially the palettes 🙂
I don’t care if the package looks tacky to some people it reminds me of the old tin lunch boxes that sometimes came with a thermos and vintage comics merchandise, so more for me 😉 . Just by looking at it, I think I will be getting most of it, the swatches will help me make the final decision. Thanks for the info 🙂

Kayla Rachelle Avatar

Bright, colorful packaging inspired by cartoons is cheap? I think it’s adorable and fun.

Not everything in bright, primary colors is tacky or cheap.

Karly Avatar

I truly love it! so fun and amazing. Thank you Mac cuz ur the only line that keeps me excited month after month. I am loving wonder woman, this is a collector`s dream. I love the quads, lippies with the star, I am drooling here, and I will ask for this for valentine`s, even the timing is right =)

Bonnie Avatar

I love any superhero chic fashion/ makeup! So excited about this collection, and I’m so happy that there are a lot of people saying how much they hate it (MORE FOR MEEEEE)!
I’m wondering how colorful the colored mascaras are.

marlinch Avatar

Now why couldn’t they do this with the Villains packaging? The items I got from that collection totally blend in with all my other mac products, this totally says Wonder Woman, looks like it popped out of the comic books 🙂 Can’t wait to see it in person.

Jean Avatar

Oh come on people don’t be mean to each other… Like the packaging, don’t like it, it’s all fine either way. There’s no need to call each other names over something like this. It’s just make up packaging! Not liking it does not mean that you are a snob and a prude, and liking it doesn’t mean that you’re “cheap” or whatever. Be nice.

Taylor Avatar

Obviously the packaging shouldn’t determine whether or not the product is good quality. People are like “I’m not buying that! The packaging is so terrible.” Who cares? It’s not like people care that much about what the tube of lipstick you’re applying looks like.
I’m excited for swatches and to try some things out.

Mertle Avatar

I can’t wait for this collection to come out! I actually love the packaging:) It looks very cute, and I’m looking forward to seeing the blush duos and the mineralize skinfinishes (I really love blush)! My favorite packaging is definitely the lipstick packaging; I can’t see why people don’t like it:(

Pamela Avatar

Hmm. I’m beginning to have second thoughts about the packaging. I don’t hate it but it’s not “superb” as I previously called it. The HUGE red cap on the nail polish is dumb looking. I think it could definitely be perfected.

MARGO Avatar

wow..trying to remember how lynda carter did all her makeup. she has such beautiful eyes…i think she did a lot of platinum and blue shadow combos with red/dark pink lips so it will be something to see when it hits the Mac counters.

Tasha Avatar

I like the packaging. As long as the special packaging is not stickers like Dame Edna, I love when packaging is different. It is about a comic so it should be cartoonish right? Can’t wait to get my hands on this;)

Christina Avatar

As a comic nerd even I have to admit the packaging just makes it look tacky. I think they could have gone with a more modern take and not so Lynda Carter.

Cheyenne Avatar

The packaging doesn’t bother me really. VV packaging did, that was tacky…I still feel weird taking out my lipgloss I bought from that collection.

Anyways 🙂 I’m excited.

Rebecca Avatar

OMG! This is awesome!!! I’m 37 (well, 38 tomorrow) and it brings back so many memories of my childhood, especially Underoos! (which I’ve seen a few comments about). Seems to me from these comments that those of us in our late 20s and 30s will be snatching this collection up! Can’t wait!

Pepper Avatar

The only thing that truly disappoints me about this collection is that MAC did not incorporate ” The Lasso of Truth” as one of the names of one of the colors of anything. I personaly thought it would have made a bi*@$in’ golden eyeshadow. <3

Paty Avatar

Well, I guess I’m part of the minority here. I LOVE the packaging, it’s so much fun!! hope the quality of the products are great too! I’ll swatch before I buy, I don’t want to rush into it, just because I love the packaging…

Victoria Avatar

Lovvvingg ittt!! The packaging is absolute PERFECTION! Wonder Woman is a COMIC BOOK character…comic books aren’t chic or cute or any of that…they are FUN! And that’s exactly what this collection is! Love it! Christine you rock for letting us be “in the know” on up and coming collections!

Alyson Avatar

i can’t wait to see the quads and the mascaras. i love the packaging and all the colors, but i was a huge venomous villains fan as well. it’s funny how up in arms everyone is getting. like every MAC collection, there are things that i love and things that i hate. i can’t wait to see it in person, though!

leesie Avatar

I, for one, looove the packaging, and, while I respect others’ opinions, I’m sort of shocked by all the violent disapproval. I don’t know why; it is the internet, after all. But, yeah, the packaging is nice. It’s just so kitschy and fun–perfect!
The Valiant and Lady Justice quads are really appealing to me, because I love blues and greens and actually don’t have /any/ MAC shadows, but I’m also lacking in pinks… I probably will end up not getting any, though. I’m still very interested in swatches for these.

poinky Avatar

Can’t wait to try those colored mascaras and golden lariat! Thanks for the pictures Christine. Hope you’ll get to the swatches and review for it soon 🙂

bananabelle Avatar

Are the people who aren’t big fans of the packaging also not big comic book fans? I think the packaging is absolutely perfect for the theme!

I’m really excited that my love for geeky things is crossing with my love for makeup. I think I’m going to need to buy a MAC gift card for myself beforehand so I make sure not to go over budget on this one!

Maryel Avatar

It looks like bubblegum package 😀 hhehehehe it’s awful, anyway i’m happy that finally i will not buy anything and save some money for another stuff

courtney Avatar

Not digging the packaging either, but gotta say ill be checking it out when it hits the stores. I like one of the quads, and ill probably grab a glitter while I can.

Melissa Morelli Avatar

I really like the packaging. I think it makes the collection look so fun and whimsical. It also portrays wonder women well. It would look so dumb if it was just basic mac packaging with the only exception being it saying wonderwoman. I like this collection a lot. Good Job Mac!

Lauren Avatar

This sounds like a great collection. I spent too much on Champale, and was going to order from Peacocky, but now I’ll pass on Peacocky and save money for this. I’m super excited for the return of Marquise’D lipstick. I bought it back with the Redhead collection. Loved it on my fair skin. I think I paired it then with Strawberry Blonde lipglass, which I also loved.
Yay for Wonder Woman.

riannon Avatar

i like the packaging osome items like the pigments, lipsticks and nail polish, but i don’t like the blushes and the msf packaging, if they had the clear lide i would have like it alot more or just made the packaging blue or red or like really shiny gold would have been cool. i will probably be getting some nailpolishes, eyehsadow quads and the lipsticks

Tina Avatar

One thing I really like about this collection (seeing past the packaging which is, uhm, interesting), is how they have a lipstick in every finish! One satin, one lustre, one frost and one matte. Something for everybody then! Longing for swatches!

Tania Avatar

I have a question about the mineralized skinfinishes. I’m inexperienced with them. How would you use a MSF like this with different patches?
Do you swirl your brush all over the MSF or do you use the different patches on different areas on your face?

Lily Miramontes Avatar

I love Love love this collection , i been waiting forever . And to all you haters , Wonder Women is a Comic Book Hero , that is why the packaging is like this .. She represents everyone , from older females to little girls to be like her . So kiss my %*#& ! Im buying everything !!!!!!!!!

LauraH Avatar

I think I’m more excited about this than I was about Disney! The packaging is perfect for it – maybe you have to become enough to really remember Wonder Woman? I love it!

Gia Avatar

Seriously as a comic book dork! Love it! I don’t get the hate on the packaging. Yah it’s not sleek and black but who cares! It’s fun which is what makeup is in the first place! It’s not for everyone, but why would you be ashamed to pull it out in public? I’ve gotten so much comments when I pull my Disney/Mac Villains lipsticks out! Looking forward to this!

christine Avatar

well my era wasn’t really about wonder woman, but if it were i would love this packaging. and i didn’t think vv was that bad either. people need to calm down, this is about the products, not what it comes in!
i don’t even like wonder woman and i am planning on buying some stuff, regardless of packaging.

Sweet Tea Avatar

I was so surprised to see so many people dislike the packaging! My first thought was, “Yes! THIS is how you do limited edition packaging MAC! None of that, ‘Let’s slap a sticker on our regular packaging and see if anyone notices we didn’t really do anything original.'” LOL To each her own I guess!
I’m really intrigued by the mentions of “jumbo-sizing” some of the products. I just hope the prices aren’t too astronomical bc of it!

Emily Avatar

After reading some of these really snarky comments about the packaging an how childish it is- maybe you have never met MAC before. Heatherettte, Fafi, Disney, Hello Kitty, Barbie- done with a joie de vivre. Maybe Chanel is the safe place for you because MAC does a much better job at bravely pushing the limits. I mean Lady GaGa is a
Spokesperson. So really shield your delicate sensibilities and run to the closest Bobbi Brown counter to soothe your jangles nerves. Good grief.

Crystal C. Avatar

I am excited! I love the colors and I just really hope that they will be of really great quality! 🙂 The packaging is so colorful and looking at it makes me feel like I want to play all day long – with make up! 🙂

amy Avatar

I love the packaging !! Mac is not exactly a high end brand lol of course it’s not the most cheapest brand either but anyways love love love it!!

Renally Avatar

I really didn´t like this collection as far as I´ve seen.
I don´t like the packaging(I think it was a tacky choice), I don´t like that so many products are permant or repromotes… wich is a shame because I was so excited.

It doesn´t mean that the products are not good, but I´m not looking foward to this collection at all 🙁

Keira Avatar

This looks so cute!! I cant wait to see the reviews. That packaging is a bit playful, but it sticks to the theme. I hope there arent too many dupes.

B Avatar

i love the packaging! it really goes well with the whole comic look of wonderwoman. i am definitely going to splurge on this collection! can’t wait!

Chelle Avatar

I’m actively going to avoid anything from this collection just because the packaging looks so godawful. I guess they were going for a retro-throwback but you can do that in a MODERN way.

Totally pass. On everything.

laden Avatar

I have mixed feelings about this collections. Packaging looks actually fun but I am not sure whether I would go buy these only for the packaging. I want to make sure the product is good enough to splurge my money on it. VV collection’s package was so so but I didnt find anything nice except melon pigment and that is a permanent item.
I feel MAC is getting a little tacky with making lots of collection every single month. I really start thinking that instead of making things permanent in store, they follow a tactic making products called limited editions so we would rush and buy everything we think we will never see again. Even though I like mac products, It makes me angry to think that they are trying to make you spend more to gain more.I am really tired to follow their color trends etc. and I just started learning makeup last year!

Roxanne Avatar

Exactly! I feel like they put more money into the number of collections than in the quality. That doesn’t make any sense to me. A lot of people I know think MAC is expensive. You’d think they’d try to gain new customers by providing excellent quality?

Eleana Avatar

Honestly, i love how they choose to respect wonder woman’s colour theme and not change anything drastic from the original classic comic. Also, i think its only fair to give credits to MAC for coming out with awesome and out of the ordinary themes! and not the usual classy themes which are kinda boring now. thumbs ups MAC!

Kim-Mary Avatar

WOWWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!! I am LOVING the packing & the items!!!! My mom grew up watching Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman in the 70’s and she’s going mad mad mad for this stuff. She said the packaging isn’t tacky or childish at all. I agree. I think some of you need to get off your highhorse and stop complaining. I am planning on buying a lot from this collection. I do have a question for you Christine. Not sure if you can answer it so early on. I am very interested in knowing what the Colored Zoom Mascaras will be (what colors) so that I don’t buy all of the Wonder Woman mascaras just to have the same colors re-promoted in that collection? Or is it a different formula to the mascaras? Sorry about all the questions. I’m not that “down” with mascaras. Tx!!!!

Chloe Avatar

i was not supposed to like this collection but i really like it !grr my purse hates me now! the packaging is wicked and bold but i do agree with those saying that it is cheap looking. overall , i think there are some nice colours here

RosaVee Avatar

The packaging is totally appropriate! What do you guys expect?! It’s Wonder Woman! I’m only interested in 2 things: The bronze MSF and Marquise’d!

Dee Avatar

The packaging is totally wonder woman! If you were a comic book character or if you were simply Wonder Woman, this is what your makeup would look like! Pretty sure the actual product is MAC quality! and If this was a graphic design project in school, this packaging would totally be A+ …It totally has the Wonder Woman feel to it, color scheme of the packaging, and color scheme of the products all scream Wonder Woman!…I like it when MAC gets this creative and fun! This is what makes this company different than all the other brands. Not only the quality of their products, but the fact that they never lose their creative (and fun) spark!

Roxanne Avatar

I’m disappointed in some comments on here. Just because you like the packaging, doesn’t mean your “childish” or “tacky”. And just because you DON’T like it, doesn’t mean you’ve had “a bad childhood” or are “boring”. People draw conclusions so quickly :/

I myself don’t really like the packaging. I remember having watched a few WW episodes when I was younger but I never read the comics or anything. I just feel like MAC never pushes through on their packaging. It always lacks *something*. I think they could easily have taken this to the next level by playing with multiple designs (like comics) and materials (metal, gold). As a brand portraying themselves as creative, I’m always disappointed with their packaging. Anyway, I will definitely need to see swatches before I make my decision!

liz Avatar

i can’t understand why Wonder Woman herself, isn’t on the packaging? this is like if they had did the Hello Kitty collection without hello kitty and just put “hello Kitty” on the packaging…

rebeca Avatar

thats just amazing! hmmmm, im so excited for this collection! I already have Russian Red, but im thinking of buying another one just for the packaging – it’s gorgeous! Well done, MAC hehehe

Pamela Avatar

MAC should ask Lynda Carter to make an appearance for the launch. She is pushing 60 but I bet she can still rock colored mascara and some shimmer. 😉

Diane Avatar

I’m actually glad they went all the way with the packaging! If I’m buying something cartoon themed and limited edition I want it to look that way! The Disney Villains collection was really great and all, but I thought it they could have put more effort into it than printing cartoon faces on their regular packaging! That seemed cheap to me!
Also, I’m really excited that they are super-sizing some of the products for this! How great would it be if MAC offered super-sized versions of best-sellers once a year?!

Felicia Avatar

Now I am older, over 35 and I LOVE the packaging, especially on the lipsticks and quads!I think this is a nice tribute, if you will, to Wonder Woman. She is an ‘old school’ American super hero! Bright and tacky and yes, a bit cheesy! And it’s all in FUN!! Now, let’s see what the quality is like.

Maya Avatar

I’m an avid MAC user, as well as a Wonder Woman collector. I couldn’t believe it when I heard this collection is coming, I almost fainted!!! I have to say, that I am a little disappointed… I REALLY DON’T like the packaging… but the makeup itself is ok, just ok, not amazing. I guess I had high expectations that have not been met, but I will admit – I will be purchasing a couple of things.

*Thoughts in my head while i was reading this post/comments*
1.Wooow I’d better start saving money(Russian Red lipstick,maybe an e/s quad,nail polishes)
2.(as i was scrolling down the product images)What kind of an off-putting packaging is that?*also main thought generally*
3.The quad packaging…is horrific…they look like toolboxes…
4.Niiice polishes…Sould i get one?Naah these colors are quite dupable
5.Colored mascaras!!But MAC mascaras are not great…Also dupable…
6.Considering the LE factor everything will be overpriced anyway
7.Maybe i”l just buy the Russian Red…
8.Or i could also get Emancipation,Wonder Woman and the pen liner looks nice
9.Nah the lipglass wand is humongous, the pen liner is similar to NYX’s fat marker
10.Should i just stick to Russian Red for collector reason’s then?
11.Ok I get the whole Wonder Woman theme
12.But it does not appeal to me
13.I agree with those saying the products look like toys, they would not use them in public, can’t picture themselves using them anyway, wouldn’t look nice among the rest of their make up collection
14.Maaaybe i’ll skip this collection
15.Apparently i have too much time on my hands to write such a long comment

Michelle Avatar

Interesting. May look into this collection since I skipped out on a lot of the Winter/Holiday collections since I was out of the country. Besides, who doesn’t love Wonder Woman???

jen Avatar

Not sure why people don’t like the packaging? Although, it would’ve been nice to have the acutal picture of Wonder Woman on the packaging except just colors. However, I think it’s really cool! Love this collection so far. Definitely going to pick up that mirror!

Emma G Avatar

People will complain about anything, esp. women, we’re always so negative and then have the nerve to justify it by saying we’re opinionated. This is very creative and very inpsiring. Wonder woman was always one of my favorite characters… makes me feel like I can do anything. If you don’t like the packaging, you can still purchase the original, plus that leaves more for us who are not complaining. Get over it!

Linda Avatar

What gets me is those that are criticizing us that hate the packaging think we are prissy girls that want plain black packaging with MAC stamped on it. Case in point is that if i’m paying for a $14 eyeshadow I want not only something that is a good product but packaging that is pleasing to my eye. Yes as a kid I watched the hulk, ninja turtles, and all that stuff but if they were to come out with that I wouldn’t expect some booger green compact with Donatello stamped on it. The packaging looks cheap. They could have done a better job packaging wise so that it looks of higher quality yet still has that classic wonder woman feel. Don’t criticize us who want the best bang for our buck!

Michelle Avatar

I was totally excited for this collection, but the packaging just lowered my excitement. It looks very cheap, they played it off her outfit too much. But I’m excited for the Quads! (:

ariana978 Avatar

seriously r u guys blind?! im so excited for this collection im starting to save my entire checks for this im so looking foward to buying both pallets they look amazing ! half of u whiners n complainers need to go suck on something and quit hateing . i think this collection screams perfection!

Shana Avatar

Once again, Mac, you rock it out!!!! Just like Hello Kitty and Venomous Villains Collection, Wonder Woman looks fantabulous!!! As I reading other comments about how some women will be too embarassed to whip these compacts out in public, I just think to myself the opposite. I will be taking out all of the WW compacts, cause alot of people I know love Mac too!!! So for all of you that keep putting down the WW packaging, keep it up, becuase that’s more chances of more of the products to be very well stocked!!! Mac is awesome, and they just keep getting better and better!!

Ms Trendy Avatar

I am going to guess and say no just like most collections with special LE packaging (Venomous Villains, To the Beach, Liberty of London….).

Carol Avatar

I think they went a little too obvious with the packaging and could have went in many different directions with it other than the expected all out red yellow and blue. Very excited to try them out though and I’m a HUGE wonder woman fan!

Ms Trendy Avatar

In the post there are 3 eye shadow quads but in the pics I only see 3 shown… I think Valiant may be the one missing? Christine is that right?

Kayla Avatar

I LOVE the packaging, but I’m not happy with the brush sets and makeup bags. They had such a great opportunity to make something really special, but the bags just fell flat. I would have liked to see an old school lunchbox kind of thing going on. How cute would a Wonder Woman lunchbox-looking train case be? I would have even been happy with something bright and vinyl with the WW logo on it.

Janine Avatar

I have to say I like the packaging. I think it’s fun! I’m excited to get some of these products. I was going to save on not buying makeup, but, this looks really nice!

Samantha Avatar

Ive Been Waiting For A Collection Like This… With Crazy Packaging… Since I Just Started Collecting Makeup Since The Villains Collection.!

Packaging Goes Well With The Theme….Cant Wait Till It Comes Out.!

Anyone Know The Pricing Yet.?

tawny Avatar

i understand the comic book theme packaging, but i feel like mac takes things too far sometimes. like the disney collection. i understand there’s a theme but it’s still makeup. why not do it in a sophisticated way instead of so gimmicky? do grown women really want to whip out cosmetics with cartoons on them, etc? it’s just ridiculous.

Baby1black Avatar

Hey everyone there is someone on YouTube with actual samples of the wonder women collection. They eyeshadow quad are definitly pigmented, the Marquise d lipstick is a little shimmery so does the red gloss, the packaging looks ok except for that felt tip eyeliner. It seriously looks like kids crayola drawing pen. However u have to check the viva glam gaga 2 I will defintly get that those especially for u all women of color. Christine do u know when will that come put?

Lilah Avatar

Apparently will take a little longer, but this collection will be launch here in Brazil around May/June (\O/).Which is great, because Venomous Villains never got here =( .

Brittany Avatar

When I first heard about this collection I was a little curious. I’m in my 20s but I had older parents so it’s not like I’m completely ignorant of pop culture in the 50s-80s. I don’t have a personal connection to WW but I can see how at the time how important and iconic she was to girls and young women. There’s not a lot of female superheros even tho women can do things just like the guys (and some things even better than guys) and I think it’s cool MAC wanted to bring that back a bit.

When I saw the product photos in this post, my knee-jerk reaction was that they did look cheap. I would not skip a product or buy a product based on packaging–although I do like my collection to look nice. I’m wondering if MAC is trying to appeal to a bit older demographic–the 30 to 40-something or older crowd, not to mention comic lovers of any age. That demographic has more adoration than those who don’t have a connection with WW. VV seemed to appeal to everyone despite packaging because the villains used were classic (except the doctor who was more recent). I do agree, however, they COULD have gone a little different with the theme. Like someone mentioned, a retro comic strip-like thing similar to the posters with WW and Medusa would have been AWESOME. I probably would be more keen to get this collection if that was the direction they went.

Makeup is a complex thing–it can be sophisticated and chic or fun and playful. Whether you love the packaging or hate it, at least MAC got you buzzing about it.

As usual, I will reserve my overall opinion of this collection until the awesome Christine reviews and swatches the products.

Rosa Napoleon Avatar

I am loving the product design for this collection. I grew up in the 80’s and remember wonder woman. This product design is spot on perfect. I completely like the lunch box as well as doll that came out doing late 70’s and early 80’s.

Andera Avatar

I hope it comes to Malaysia and I hope I know about it! Before the Villans collection came here, the silly MUAs wouldnt tell me when it would be launched here and by the time I found out a couple of days later, all the good stuff was gone grrr!

Lisa Avatar

FIRST OFF WONDER WOMAN IS AND WAS A CARTOON…THAT’S WHY THE PACKAGING IS KID LIKE… THESE ARE JUST PICTURES, UNTIL WE SEE THE ACTUAL PACKAGING WE SHOULDN’T JUDGE IT. THERE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SO MUCH NEGATIVITY. THIS IS INFORMATION FOR US AND WE SHOULD BE HAPPY TO HAVE IT WAY EARLIER THAN WE WOULD ON OUR OWN. THANKS

Melissa Morelli Avatar

The only thing that i dont like about this collection and Mac as a company is that when the collection is gonna be hella hyped and really in demand, they hella raise the prices! I mean i am gonna get a few things from this collection but holy crap!

Annie Avatar

Sucks to be Canadian having to pay $123 for a lipglass from this collection! hahahaha I think I might pass on those… the eyeshadow palettes look amazing though! And I think the packaging is amazing 🙂

Pam Avatar

woooah the pigment and lipglass are so expensive – just looked at the Canadian prices. I will probably be skipping this. Thanks for the info!

DCB Avatar

Ok being a comic book nerd for quit some time in my life (not so much now) PLUS being engaged to a comic book nerd the packaging and the colors are so Wonder Woman it hurts. I actually like it and find it to be fun so I might have to buy the quads. I’d have no problem taking out any of these products from my purse because I could care less about what others think of me.

romina Avatar

Well I love the packaging! the color are very wonder woman… the packaging seems to be made out of plastic. What wrong with that? all Mac packaging are made of plastic. Well, I guess we will have to wait and see.

meagan Avatar

LOOOOOVE IT!!!

I never feel inclined to get a MAC collection but as a child of the 70’s – I MUST!!! its extra cute & reminds me of childhood – that makes me smile. :o)

Thanks!!!

Jen Avatar

i’m relieved that the compacts are actually glossy; the first promo photos that came out made them look matte and pretty cheap looking. i have a feeling it will all look much better in person. 🙂

Rhiannon Avatar

I was so excited for this collection! Im such a sucker for packaging but looks like Im going to save some money on this collection! The package is just not for me, although Ill buy a Mineralized skinfinish and Duo Blush, they grab my attention a little bit!

Brynn Avatar

You know what? As a Canadian, I am officially offended by MAC’s pricing.
42 flipping dollars for an MSF now?
OUR DOLLAR IS WORTH MORE THAN THE US DOLLAR!
That’s in MAC.. I am DONE with you. 24 dollars for a lipglass??? That is like 24.50 US!
Christine, what do you think? Would you pay 24.50 American for a MAC lipglass???

Lulee Avatar

whaaaaaaaaa? im not down with the ridic prices on these… 35 for an msf??? i didnt *hate* the packaging like some people because i think it fits with the theme really well, but these hiked up prices to account for the packaging and the marketing is not cool. big ol pass from me.

Farida Avatar

Wow, can’t wait. By the way, is there a price increase coming soon to MAC eg. pigments. There are same usual size and cost $23.50CND but with this collection they are $25.00CND. THX!!!

Julia Avatar

Christine, do you think you can put the part about the super sized product in huge, red print? People can’t seem to read and are complaining about prices being inflated for no reason…

Alyssa Avatar

Can’t believe so many don’t like the packaging. Yes it’s “kid-like” or whatever but I think that’s part of what makes it so fun! I really like it and think I’ll get a Russian Red, Opulash, and the Penultimate liner for sure (all of which I already have) just to have the fun packaging! I really love all the promo pics too. Praying I get a postcard or something. Haven’t gotten one in a while!

Marcela Avatar

the packaging is wonderfully kitschy! fits the 70s retro theme perfectly! only thing i find hideous and truly cheap-looking are brush bags. i can’t wait for real photos and swatches!

BeyondtheBath(Stephie) Avatar

I have to say that I love this collection. I love the packaging, too. Makeup is supposed to be FUN, and with bright, primary colored packaging, well, it doesn’t get better than that. My Mom made me a Wonder Woman costume one year, for Halloween, and I was heartbroken wneh I outgrew it. For those of you who don’t like this collection, hey, that’s cool – it just means that I have a shot at getting my hands on the goods. Those lipsticks and lip glasses are calling out to me.

Andreita Avatar

I like this a lot, I love comic books so I’d buy a few stuff from this collection, the packaging is different which I like, I don’t really mind taking my lipstick out for retouching 🙂

Sarah Avatar

This entire collection looks AMAZING. whoever thinks this isnt wonderfull is on crack. Ill admit the packaging is a little childish. but i LOVE it. its alot more fun than looking at the boring black packaging of regular mac eyeshadows etc.. and besides you buy the makeup for the PRODUCT thats inside, not the packaging. and from the looks of it, these colors are going to be quite impressive. My Credit Card is deffinatley going to be maxed out from this collection 😉

Air Avatar

Cute. I was thinking of getting a lipglass, but not at that price, even if its bigger. Maybe if it was lustreglass, I like that formula waay better

SamB Avatar

I personally don’t have a big issue with the packaging other than I wish they would show Wonder Women on some of it. I think the slightly tacky packaging fits in perfectly with the whole comic book theme. Comics are over the top and quite cheesy at times so it fits. Though the mascara having the same kind of packaging seems like a little much for my taste. I’m even ok with the tacky brush belt, which I’m predicting not many people will buy, but not the mascara. Though they are gorgeous colors.

I’m looking forward most to the Mighty Aphrodite blush and Pink Power MSF. Both look really nice and colors that I can pull off. Not really digging anything else that much but I may pick up a lipstick or quad once I see swatches and what not.

Em Avatar

why on earth have they super sized them? I very rarely get through a product, unless its foundation or mascara, so I’m definitely not paying the extra to get even more. put me off a bit really.

Holle Avatar

Don’t dig the packaging but we will see how it looks in person. All of the listings say there are two pigment colors, but the pics show four pigments. What are the names of the other two pigments?

Jacqueline Avatar

It would of been so much better if they had put Wonder Woman’s face on the packaging instead of the letterings. Nonetheless, I can’t wait for your reviews on the products Christine.

Ashley Avatar

I am so upset! I have been waiting forever for this collection and I absolutely love it! Problem is, I broke my foot about 3 weeks ago and will not be able to go back to work until March. So, that means no extra money to be spending on the makeup collection of my dreams. Wonder Woman is my idol! She’s tough but not afraid of love.

Kieu Avatar

I’m not sure if anyone already said this, but…

MAC is so strategic about supersizing the items! 1.) They make more money per product/sale. 2.) The downside is, if you really like the packaging, you can’t buy a backup or 3 to transfer your MAC powders into, since the sizing is different. I can’t wait to see the weight of the products, esp the MSFs & duos, though! 🙂 Maybe the duos will the a compact comparable to the size of the usual MSF powders… I hope.

Samantha Pruna Avatar

Yeah, the packaging is a little questionable-but I guess since it’s based on a comic they wanted to make it look cartoony? Anyways, what’s up with the prices? Is it just me or do they seem a bit much?

Melissa Avatar

I agree with what most are saying, the packaging is so cheap & ugly. As far as the products go I’m not liking too much from this collection. Maybe a blush & an msf but I’ll have to see if they are worth paying the extra $ for the packaging that is so hideous.

Cassie Avatar

Thank you MAC and Temptalia….finally a makeup collection that my husband is really excited to buy for me!! Now perhaps MAC could come out with some Star Wars makeup?

Julia Avatar

One of my favorite things about MAC is their nice packaging. I’m sorry but this packaging is BUTT UGLY. I think I would actually like the colors if they weren’t in unflattering packaging. I was excited for this but now I’m not 🙁 And why are the prices all racked up?

Charlotte Avatar

Ugh I’m want SO much of this collection, depending on swatches, but right now I’m eyeing up all the eyeshadow quads and both mineralize skinfinishes!

Lulee Avatar

LOLOL MAC has “supersized” the size of the pigments for this collection… so they mean they are probably the size pigments *used* to be before they cut back on the quantity. oh mac, you bring the LOLs.

Crystal Avatar

So excited about this, really the packaging isn’t my fav but it’s a comic book character so I wasn’t expecting YSL packaging (my fav) on this so I’ll take it! I can’t wait to see the swatches on this Christine-your the best!

Alexis Avatar

I love the packaging. Not often do you see packaging like this. I believe it is unique and truly brings justice to Wonder Woman herself! I mean, seriously, if this was not a Wonder Woman collection then what would be on the packaging? Why wouldn’t Wonder Woman’s logo be represented on it? Either way, I think this is kick ass! Looking forward to the mascara’s! Even though they look kind of Halloween-y. Thanks so much for posting!

Rosanna Avatar

Only the mineralize skinfinishes catches my eye. The packaging looks really vintage but at the same time, a little tacky & cheap – but if you don’t carry that much makeup with you, who cares about packaging when no one is going to see it outside of your home?!

garnetstorm Avatar

I’m very disappointed that there are no character images on the packaging, especially the compacts. Something can be cartoony and kitschy, but in a good way. I think the packaging is too conservative and doesn’t live up to its potential for cartoony goodness.

Imogen Avatar

What a shame. Wonder woman was my gave as a kid so I was really excited for this collection but it just looks cheap and horrible. Zero creative thought has been put into this packaging. Disappointing.

Meredith Avatar

I have to side with all of the “ugly” packaging people. The collection itself looks fabulous in terms of the colors and I’m very excited about those quads, but geez MAC – if you’re going into this LE stuff with Disney, and now super heroes, please make the packaging somewhat “adult”. I don’t think a lot of people out there “get it”. I know MAC is trying to go more outside the box, but yuck.

Pinksoda Avatar

Wow the jumbo size and expensive price tags are such a turnoff. I wish they would have kept stuff regular sized so i could afford more of the products. 🙁

jamie @ publicservicebeauty.com Avatar

I’m not really a MAC fan, so maybe I’m a little biased, but doesn’t this packaging look a little childish/cheap….ghetto?? I guess it’s for a niche market, and that I kind of understand… but I just can’t imagine paying $40 for a shadow palette in that packaging. Yikes!!

Steph Avatar

I take it there must not be many comic book fans in the audience. lol I think the package is wonderful and it adds to the SPIRIT and ARTISTRY of the original appearance of Wonder Woman in DC Comics over 50 years ago. That being said, I find it silly that people were looking forward to this collection because it has “Wonder Woman” stamped on it but complain about the packaging because it’s being true to the character.

Kerry Slone Avatar

I’m super excited for the launch! I love the cartoonish comic book packaging! I want to put my “Under-Roos” on and save the world!

Shelley Avatar

Typically the discount doesn’t apply to things in Collections in special packaging, even for the employees, when collections have special packaging, its full price for everyone 🙁

dawn Avatar

I’m excited for this collection! Love WW and I’m feeling the packaging. Though I do wish they put wonder woman herself on there. Still nice though. Very nostalgic.

JayJay Avatar

The way I read the information, is that the only larger products are the lipglass, Penultimate Liner, and MSFs. Also, the blush, because it’s a duo. It looks like everything else is the normal size, but the price hike is due to the packaging.

And, as far as the packaging goes, to each their own. The comic book and wonder woman lovers will really enjoy this, as the packaging fits the theme really well. Those of us that aren’t into comics may enjoy the products regardless of the packaging, or they may decide to pass on this collection.

There’s no need for so many arguments about it.. It’s just makeup! We all have different tastes!

Lux&Veritas Avatar

*Gasp* It’s not “just” makeup JayJay (especially for most who are on sites like these). But, more importantly if we are going to spend our hard earned money on not-so-cheap cosmetics like MAC, we want something to show for it! And if we are giving them this money we would like to see some kick back from these companies for all the money we do throw their way. IF they raise prices they should maintain if not increase the quality of their product, not decrease. I personally am still very much annoyed with the pigment product change; half the product and double the price per oz!

JayJay Avatar

I absolutely agree with you here, about the price changes and whatnot. Don’t get me started on pigment sizes, and dazzleglasses. Oh, and how about that MAC hasn’t had a f&f sale for over a year. As well, price hikes based on special packaging = ridiculous!

When I was saying “It’s just makeup”, I was talking about the fact that people are arguing, and disrespecting each other because some like the packaging, and some don’t. Is makeup worth fighting over with your peers? Like I said, to each their own. Some will love it, and some will loathe it.

I am just as passionate about my makeup as most of the people on here and other blogs, but I won’t argue with others because they like a product, and I don’t, or vice versa.

VJNS Avatar

I’ve been reading all the negative comments about the packaging, and I do agree that it’s not the most creative, so it doesn’t get my vote. But since I don’t wear packaging I’m not making my decision to not buy on packaging. I’m deciding not to buy this collection (except for maybe a mascara) based on two things..PRICE and Shades. I’m offended that they would up their price without upping their choice of shades. I think the shade selection is trite and unimaginative. Wonder Woman may be a cartoon but she is US, and she’s a symbol of women’s resilience, effervescence, boldness, and sense of unity with the universe. Where are those colors? I’m completely disappointed.

Kesha Avatar

I don’t think even Wonder Woman herself would use makeup in packaging like that. It should have been Shiny Gold packaging like the inner details of the compacts, not Miliaria Red all over. MAC is really starting to anger me with their dubious packaging choices. “QUIT WHILE YOU’RE AHEAD”.

Also, were the long quads always $40? The only long quad I have is the Hello Kitty one and I got it from a CCO way after the collection was sold out.

Mel Avatar

I love, love, LOVE this collection. The packaging is definitely the big draw for me. I tend to look fairly average and maybe even conservative. A Wonder Woman lipstick is the nerd-girl equivalent of wearing lacey panties under a grey powersuit.

Now if only we could get a Batman villain’s collection. (Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, etc… not Joker!)

Shelley Avatar

This collection looks like its going to be a big hit just as Hello Kitty was. For all of you complaining about the packaging looking cheap, I think you’re missing the point. The packaging is very reminiscent the comic book theme of what Wonder Woman really is, a COMIC BOOK!

Lux&Veritas Avatar

Like the majority of you all I really don’t like the packaging! The prices have been going up, while the quality is being compromised. With these types of colors, using a solid plastic red, blue, and yellow just cheapens the look. If they had made them translucent in the same colors and maybe had some of the lettering raised or embossed onto the packaging it would have looked much better and still kept the nostalgic essence they were going for.

JayJay Avatar

That’s how I interpreted it as well. The prices on the lipsticks and pigments would have been higher had they been supersized. They still went up though, so it looks like this is a case of paying for the packaging.

Jodie Avatar

I think the packaging looks perfect for the collection. Wonder Woman is a comic book character and therefore is colorful, dramatic and slightly tacky. It fits perfectly. If you don’t like it then there a plenty of other collections throughout the year with standard packaging!

Tantalizing Eyez MUA Avatar

I love the packaging. It is so retro and reminds me of the comics I still have and the original show with Linda Carter I use to watch. I plan to get the Valient palette and at least 2-3 compacts, plus a bag…maybe more

wonderingaboutwonderwoman Avatar

I think that this collection is going to be amazing. The packaging looks very kids like and not very professinal but the colors look awesome. I think that im going to get a lot even if the packaging isn’t very professional.

Lori Avatar

wow this is awful packaging! immature, loud, a bit off-putting. yuckkk i hope the colors swatch pretty, and if i do buy something, i’d be embarassed pulling out my compact in front of ANYONE in public! yikesss. kinda disappointed 🙁

maclover Avatar

It’s the wonder woman collection, not the Golden Girls collection… how would you rather have the packaging look… When MAC makes a collection based on you, make sure it looks better than this, or when your own line comes out… make sure it blows MAC out of the water.

If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. If I like the colors/swatches, I will be buying. The packaging is fun. I love the make up bags… i wonder what size they are.

Ivy Avatar

I actually think it’s a “fall from grace” for Wonder Woman to be featured on makeup at all. Given her start and the intentions of the original creator of the character the whole thing is kind of tragic. Her battle with Madusa (a fight against female ugliness?) doesn’t help matters.

And yes, on top of that the packaging is crap.

christine Avatar

honestly, the supersized products are ridiculous. no one needs supersize makeup. i can’t even finish a normal sized MSF, let alone a huge one. and i’m not going to pay WAY more for it. i was just turned off by the price hikes and may not buy anything at all.

Nubia136 Avatar

The products may look cheap to some but the prices are not!! I am wondering why the lipglasses are $4.00 more than the lipsticks? I read the disclaiming regarding the increase in price. However, I don’t see the justification for the glasses being that much more than the lipsticks.

Chester Avatar

Christine, do you have any info on the dupability of the eye shadow quads? I’m interested in the Defiance quad and the Valiant quad but some colors look similar to permanent eye shadows or past LEs. For example, Diana Undercover (Valiant quad) looks similar to Humid, Paradise Island (Defiance) looks similar to Girlie, and by description Cranberry could be similar to Real Drama (Defiance).

Mina Avatar

IS ANYONE ELSE NOTICING THE PRICES OF THESE?? I mean, the MSF is $42! canadian. which means we are paying $7 more than the americans AND we pay like $7 tax on top of that! This is bull….

Katy Avatar

I’m in love with the MSFS and Duo Blushes! But the packaging looks so cheap, and kiddish! Same story with Venomous Villians and Tartan Tale, come one M.A.C., you are losing my money!

Summerblue Avatar

Only item in this collection really wanted was the manila paper e/s, but not going to spend $40 for 1 e/s I’m lemming. Only items will check out are red lipstick & red np, although, Fall would have been a better time to introduce reds. Truly not interested in anything else.

Brynna Avatar

I personally think the packaging is adorable! who wouldnt want to take out one of those compacts at school? its soo cute 🙂
unfortunately i am not one to go for bright colors like that, so i am probably going to pass on most of it.
i think i will get the liner, just to get it in the cute packaging (since ive been wanting it anyways)
also the colored mascaras seem cool, but i want to see your reviews on those first.
when you say “t” do you mean like a tshirt? if so i really wish it wasnt online only, same goes with the mirror because i am not an online orderer. fingers crossed they will rethink that because i would get both. this is just too cute.
the second blush duo seems cute as well.
i really wish there was an eyeshadow quad more my style, a little less out there, and more lip colors that work better with my natural lip color. ah well, save my wallet anyways. 😉

Charm Avatar

I love the packaging. Fits the Wonder Woman theme nicely. I don’t think I will get much from this collection though. I’d rather have a “regular” size compact than to have a super sized one for so much.

sandraV Avatar

Omg can’t wait for this and imma 20 year old! People saying the packaging looks cheap need to re-evaluate what a comic book heroine is…a comic lol with that said hopefully there will be more to go around cuz I’m so getting one of each! 🙂

Juana G Avatar

I dont like this collection much. The packaging is a turn off..Reminds of McDonalds or a Circus….The jumbo sized lipglass sounds great though. Ill have to check out the peachy pink glass and lipstick..other than “big yawn”…

ellie Avatar

I love the packaging. It’s cute. I think it’s much better than the venomous villains collection. This time they really captured the “comics/cartoons” effect of the theme.

Mary Avatar

There is NOTHING cheap about it- It’s MAC.
If anything I wouldn’t apply this make-up in public in fear of a golden tiara flying at me while another female geek runs off with it.

Sarahjane Avatar

wow that packaging looks very cheap and childish.
what is up with mac coming up with all these collections???
are you guys that desperate?

Elise Avatar

Classic Wonder Woman & highly collectible for the comic book fan! Very cool stuff! I would have to say I am excited about the MSF & Blushes the most. It will be fun to swatch and see what I like the best.

Paola Cardozo Avatar

I loved this collection! I don’t know about the packaging, but the products look really nice 🙂
I’m from Brazil and here it takes a really long time to arrive all the collections from MAC. It’s really annoying 🙁 but i’m going to ask a friend to buy for me!
By the way, i love your site Christine! It’s a reference from me and all my friends! I always look for your swatches before buying something on the internet 🙂

xoxo from Brazil!!

Lilinah Avatar

Think the Packaging is …Tacky? …Childlike? Sure, it’s for comic book super heroines! And I LOVE it! It is SO Wonder Woman! Less crazy about the makeup colors, but i really gotta get some of these for the pkg. alone 🙂 I do like the Mineralize Skin Finish, and maybe a blush, heck, i’m super enough for a metallic make up bag!

Angel Avatar

just got my invite in the mail to go. i’m excited. i don’t care much for the packaging, but it’s different (obviously)…this is the first “big” (ex. hello kitty, venomous villians) collection that i’m around for and i have to say the colors look gorgeous. i’m diggin’ the lady justice eyeshadow quad!! anyways i’ll probably pick up more than i need from this collection 😉 without much care for the packaging. it’s the product that matters, anyways.

Laurie Avatar

Wow~I waited for the photos and was so disappointed when these came on at last. I would be so embarrassed to have anyone see these in my purse/collection. The compacts look like play makeup. I like to have fun, but this is just too far out there for me 🙁

sam Avatar

not really digging this collection. the packaging looks awful as everyone has said but i was expecting something different with the colors and whatnot. these just seem very.. i don’t know. dull, i guess!

Becca Avatar

packaging= BLA!!!!
I wish that they would’ve done what they did with the venomous villians packaging on the boxes, like the sketches, that would be cool.
But I like the quads, marquis d’Sandy, the MSFs and the blushes 🙂 will probably narrow it down to like 2 or three things though when I see the stuff in person. I can’t believe it’s almost here though! less than a month!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elizabeth Avatar

I for one am LOVING the packaging. Wonder Woman is a comic book character from the 40’s (first appeared in 1941). The packaging is going to look retro and “old school”. 🙂

Thanks Temptalia for posting the pictures and giving us the information on this incredible line.

Who knows? Perhaps the reason I DO like this collection/packaging so much is because I love the comic book trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. 🙂

It’s hilarious how some of you keep saying this collection is tacky & looks cheap for any adult. Who do you think will buy this collection? Adults. I honestly love this collection! I have a feeling it’s going to sell out fast. What did you want MAC to do? Honestly? They do the best they can to please their customers that are…adults!!! To each their own, but please stop generalizing that any adult wouldn’t buy this collection cause you are lying and don’t have a clue.

I Love Wonder Woman from way back , old school grew up watching her on T.V. I Love this and I must have this collection for Spring & I need prices !!!

Liz Avatar

Everybody’s talking about the packaging but it’s totally Wonder Womans look. If you think it’s tacky then you must think Wonder Woman is tacky as well.

Rachel Avatar

OMGGGG! it comes out a day after my bday! sooooo excited, love all of it, the colours, the packaging, the idea of it, just everything!! soooooo excitedddd!!! AHHHHHHH 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Giselle Avatar

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the packaging. It’s very “wonder woman”. It looks like straight from the 80’s…I do love it and plan on buying every piece.

Sara Avatar

😮 I have to disagree, I think the packaging is adorable! It totally reflects on the playful comic-like feel of wonderwoman, think of the posh, cuteiepie packaging of hello kitty, its not the same without it!!!!
Im most excited for the pigments, they look gorgeous!!! THe MSF are sure to be a hit as well!

Lizzy Avatar

Are you even aware of who Wonder Woman is? If there were a Superman collection in those colors you’s squeal “Oh! It’s in the costume colors!!”

What does Wonder Hottie, super heroine of the Twentienth century WEAR??? And did you notice that the logo is straight off the comic cover?

marjorie Avatar

Mac has disappointed me “BIG”. What were they thinking? Wonder woman? I will not be bying anything from this collection. Thank you mac for saving me money.

Lizzy Avatar

It’s a comic book!!! Did you think it was a workaholic yuppie whose husband stays home to raise the children?

Seventy Five Years of representing forus ladies when we were still chattel property of husbands and fathers- and legally still could be- and you children, who depend on credit in your own name the Women’s Lib got for you thirty years ago, geez! Women have had the vote for less than a century! What rock are you under?

And you have the GALL to dis Wonder Woman?

Kayla Avatar

I don’t think the packaging looks cheap at all. I think the packaging is the coolest part of this collection. It’s very retro and reminds me of the actual Wonder Woman comics and toys. I’m so excited for this collection, the colors are awesome and so are the brush sets!

Suzy Avatar

I might get the peach/pink blush duo and the green eyeshadow palette, just because they are products I would get tons of use out of and I like the long eyeshadow palettes (like the Hello Kitty ones). However, it’s really, really hard to get past the packaging! For some reason, it reminds me of little boys’ underwear packaging. So…ICK. I need to see the packaging in person before making a decision. Otherwise, most of this collection’s colors look pretty ordinary, not worth the extra $$$.

Gabriella Avatar

WHATTTTT. 24$ for a lipglass????? It’s the only thing in this collection that looks decent that I want to purchase, but for some reason, they thought it would be funny to randomly raise the price. THANKS MAC!

Sasha Avatar

People may be complaining about the packaging, because face it. Wonder Woman is a comic book character. How many girls do I know, besides myself, who read comics??? Duh. But, being familiar with this world, I think this is an awesome tribute. They make Wonder Woman kind of pansy, bringing in her feminine side through cosmetics, but whatever. She is still a woman, and being “butch” doesn’t mean you must look like a man. She can stomp nuts in those massive boots WHILE wearing lipstick. And probably liner, foundation, and mascara. ^_^

Mary Avatar

I love the packaging – I love the colors – its truly represents the original wonder woman I do not think it is cheap looking at all – I cant wait for it to arrive

Lizzy Avatar

Hey- I love the packaging! The Febuary Big Deal Collection is always about Spring/Summer/ Long Haul! Remember HK?

Wonder Woman is a comic book heroine and the art and packaging reflect that. Remember how many of you thought Villians looked cheesy? Was it? Is it ever?

Damn- Mac mascara in blue at last, and I’m just barely too old for it.

Hannah Avatar

I saw a video with a few press samples someone got, and just a heads up – the lipglass wands are HUGE. If you’re someone with smaller lips, it will be hard to apply… you’ll have to use a lip brush.

nicole Avatar

I don’t understand why so many of you don’t like the packaging! I personally like it. It fits WONDER WOMAN very well. Let’s just face it, Wonder Woman is a comic = cartoon and I don’t think there is any other way to make this less tacky. The tackiness works. I LOVE IT! And one more thing, you are not going to be wearing the packaging, you’re gonna wear the actually product inside. Geez.

Lynniekae Avatar

I’m 27 and I used to watch Wonder Woman reruns as a child. Loved her. I am not feeling this packaging. Yes, it’s authentic WW, but I don’t see myself partaking in this collection with more than 2 items (or maybe just the brushes). The polish bottles remind me of Ring Pops. It’s just TOO extra for my taste.

Also, I thought the Disney collection was kiddish, but way more muted than this.

Kandie Avatar

Okay, The packing is supposed to be representative of Wonder Woman, who else would come out with something so bold, with quality makeup all rolled in one!

Alli Avatar

I really want to try the Penultimate Eyeliner if though its huge. The other one runs out of ink WAY to fast.
I also want to try the bronze pigment! Looks gorgeous!

randi Avatar

the packaging is supposed to be childlike and toylike..its wonderwoman..a cartoon. it looks exactly like something out of a comic book like its meant to.

Christine Avatar

I am NOT interested. MAC states we are getting a bit more product than the usual size but I am walking away because to me, it looks like I bought it at Toys R Us! I am not pulling that out of my makeup bag in public. Sorry MAC, try again.

Antonia Avatar

I think her image should have been added on the packaging her face and tiara are recognizable to all and she is BEAUTIFUL! I’m a huge WW fan i collect anything i see of her so i will be purchasing this. The colors of packaging is staying true to her outfit for those who dont’agree what would you have done, orange and green? 🙂 MAC you’ve done well thanks for another amzing line!

PrFlava81 Avatar

I think the products look great but with the packaging they maybe should have included her face and not so much the logo. They should have kept to the comic theme.

M Rausch Avatar

Wonder Woman is CLASSIC and what goes with her image is the plastic, blue, yellow, and red. Check out the Mego Wonder Woman doll from the 70s- looks just like that packaging goes with her outfit which is painted on to her body with a pair of blue hot pants with white stars to go over it.

That style is what makes Wonder Woman so great…that look is why comics are what they are…that “cheap” plastic cartoon look and what not seems like toys and as we all know…Wonder Woman is a fictional comic character in which plastic toys were made of.

I love the packaging and it’s genius marketing.

Thanks MAC!!

I’m a little confused …. I went to Mac website and some of the items are sold out. Will they have available items at the Mac counter on the 10th of Feb ?

Pink Princess Avatar

I am so disappointed with the response from fellow M.A.C addicts this collection is classic. Does anyone remember the 80’s?? bright, shocking colour?? WW is a fantastic collection, I CANNOT wait!!! X :))

Stars27 Avatar

I think this collection is awesome especially the movie coming out soon way to go Mac it’s good to do something diff it’s a change people

JANELLE Avatar

I would like to know why the negative feedback on the wonder woman packaging? Anyone who knows about wonder woman knows this is the original theme. I bought the product and i like both the makeup and packaging.

kara Avatar

i bought the whole entire set…its super cute, fun, and different the colors are awesome i saw them all first hand at a sample event…it is WONDER WOMAN BITCHES!

NIKKI Avatar

I’VE WORKED FOR MAC FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS AND THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE LAUNCHES OF ALL TIMES. IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE PACKAGING DON’T BUY IT! IT’S NOT SUPPOSE TO BE TYPICAL MAC. WONDER WOMAN WAS LARGER THAN LIFE AND THAT’S WHY EVERYTHING IS LARGER. AGAIN IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE PRODUCT DON’T BUY IT. ONLY A TRUE MAC ADDICT WILL UNDERSTAND! THANKS! I LOVE MY JOB AND MY COMPANY! #1

Joanne Avatar

I just bought some of the Wonder Woman collection and I love it! The packaging is amazing (I’m a bit of a nerd, I have to say, but despite that I still appreciate how strengthening this line is) and quite popular in my city. I know it’s not for everyone, but those who love the classic original Wonder Woman era will really jump for it! Mac launched their line yesterday and everyone is already grabbing their cosmetics before they sell out this weekend!

What I love most about this line is the vibrancy of the colours. What you see is what you get. The tones are just as vibrant in the packaging as they are when you apply them.

Complete A+! Recommend for any woman who loves fancy make-up that makes her look and feel good.

Deb Avatar

I am a new Mac fan! Love the packing- so retro Wonder Woman! Got the eye shadow & Amazon Princess blush! Love them both! Going to the Wonder Woman Event next weekend! Will be buying more!

Mimi Avatar

most people might not have the complextion to pull this off but I am a big fan of wonder woman. Shes a dc comic not disney. Obviously you didnt watch cartoons as a child dayna.

Felicity Avatar

Kudos to Mac for its superheroine-themed makeup, but as a comic fan, I’m disappointed in the artwork. Clearly this is an approximation of comic artwork by a commercial artist who still thinks comics have to have “BIFF! POW!” sound effects and exaggerated Benway dots, without ever having studied perspective or anatomy.

Jackie Avatar

This idea for a comic book character make up I will admit is a good idea, but use a character that would suit it better, like Poison Ivy, Catwoman much better choices and could produce a better colour scheme as well. I really hate this because, you are using a character that supports all kinds of women, and that every woman is strong, every women is beautiful in their own way, and to use her to “destroy ugliness” that’s just seems like a marketing technique to make women feel ugly without using mac makeup. In a media based society stuff like this should be frowned on, as it does influence the view that women have for themselves and how society as a whole treats and views women.
The premise is not a horrible idea, but bad choice of character, I’m a big fan of wonder woman and everything she stands for, I really wish this product was more thought out.

Cleo Avatar

My co worker just bought some and I think it’s so cute! Loved the villains too. Bought a ton of it, I enjoy the collectables and the quality is very good. Can’t help but sing the theme song whenever I see it, “Wonda WOMAN!”

Amiee Avatar

these are amazing! whether the packaging looks cheesy or not, it really doesnt matter at all beacause it is based to look as if it were, idk, based on a comic book. i meen wht else wood u expect, its wonder woman, do u really think its supposed to be…(thinking)….coverd in diamonds?uh, i dont think so. i think the casing is perfect. Its classic and original, its just how it shood b. although, they r pretty expensive. i cant afford it, and alot of other people probably cant. i meen i know MAC isnt cheap so technically the prices r pretty regular but still, i really want these. also, it really sux tht MAC doesnt carry their products for very long. i call tht a FAIL. i rlly wanted the hello kitty collection cause i am “obsessed” with hello kitty, so it kinda ticks me off, but i gess its ok. i just wish tht theyll bring them bak after a while. do u know how much more money MAC cood make if they do tht? probably about 50-75% more money thn they do now, and tht alot. well sorry for getting off subject, but yeah. 🙂

Joan Avatar

Love Wonder Woman! and the make-up is so fresh for Spring…get a life if you dont like the packaging your not rubbing the packaging on your face.. so get over it.

Anne Avatar

I love this collection!!! By the time I found out about this, it was sold out… Anyone know where I can get this aside from eBay? Thanks

Victoria Avatar

There are a few items on the Debenhams website and I mean very little they have the Gold Utility Belt Brush Set, the blue make-up bag, the darkest lipstick, two lipg lasses and a blue and pink pigment 🙂 I hope this helps!

Victoria Avatar

I know I’m a little late but I recently bought Lady Justice! It was the last one from the Debenhams website and I am absolutely inlove with every ounce of it. The colours. The packaging. Everything. It’s just stunning. I just wish I knew more about MAC because I would have bankrupted myself on this collection. I love it. Now! To wait for Semi-Precious!
