Oh Dear! How am I ever going to keep track of these collections from MAC! I haven’t been able to get my hands on any LE collection for the past two years.. everything just sells out in a blink! The packaging of this is quite nice I think and thankfully this is permanent so yay! 🙂

At least when they were released as LE products, they actually came with a powder refill, too, so it was like getting 2 pans of powder for that price.

“What, these a permanent!!!!” Was my first reaction.

I like the packaging but I’m also a Anna Sui packing fan as well (despite kind of hating the makeup). But the Sheer Mystery Powders as a no go for me product wise. >___>

Femme-de-Luxe is one i would like but the Asia exclusive shade I actually usually like. >_<

I’m sorry to be so negative but I feel like MAC is creeping ever more into that high-end price range and coming up with “excuses” to have their prices reflect that. I know that they are trying to carve out a piece of that high end profit margin and these days many of us spend a pretty penny on cosmetics but to me, MAC has a niche as a more affordable, semi-luxury brand and I’m not sure I think they should mess with that. I understand that this is just one collection but still. The fact that its permanent is saying something.

I agree. The fact that they were accessible and affordable is the reason why they have such a huge following of teens and starting makeup artists alike, who grew into adults with money to spend and clientele. So the fact that they’ve been increasing prices here and there is a bit worrisome and saddening.

MAC has been doing these ultimate luxury collections from some time. If you google MAC and Marcel Wanders you will see that. The pricing now isn’t too far off from the past either. That said however, I hope MAC knows that we do notice that every year their lipstick price goes up by $1. I remember when a MAC lipstick was between $12-$14.

This was coming since Estee Lauder took over. EL will do, and have done, just about anything to edge out comparable brands. Now that UD has grown so popular, NARS doesn’t have a much higher pricepoint, and Inglot has made its way into the mainstream; plus, DS brands are upping their game. There’s a lot more competition for MAC’s primary demographic, so now it seems they’re just trying to expand, and reach more consumers. I don’t think we’ll be seeing much in the way of this type of pricing, but I think this is just another option.

As for price hikes, every brand does them, and it simply coincides with retailers’ “generous” return policies. Both sides expect to see a certain profit-margin, and they work together to figure out how to make that bottom-line.

I also think this is going to be a year for lipsticks, as last year was blush. This is likely in response to the new NARS line-there’s even a shade called “Audacious”, which I don’t think wasan oversight…

+1

I’ve noticed them trying to creep up those prices too and there will come a point when I won’t bother checking out the MAC counter anymore except for the few “essentials” they have.

The packaging is from previous Marcel Wander collections, why is MAC not giving him any credit or mentioning his name when he helped design that packaging? Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

They gave full credit in the past but since they bought his work for packaging they are allowed to use it.

Most packaging designers get ZERO credit. But they do it because they love the work not notoriety. (Personally love to be a packaging designer myself).

I see Catharina from Marcel Wanders here but disappointed that Gesina isn’t making a permanent appearance. Glad I bought a back-up of that one, it’s a great red!

MAC is outta their mind asking $60 for the powder. Especially considering there are far better powders in the same price range with much prettier packaging. The lippies do look like winners though.

60$ for a powder. Well a Mac powder because yes I’ve spent 60$ on beauty products. I will see can’t say I won’t LOL. And in regards to Mac going up on prices every year , all brands go up and we keep purchasing so they think it’s ok. Look forward to seeing this as it launch online on my Bday!!!!

I will be interested to see if the purple lipstick is actually purple! Promotional images of purple lipsticks in particular tend to be rather deceptive… 😉

After the recent $100 Look in a Box, I will also be interested to see what they’re asking for these here in NZ…

So MAC decides it’s a good idea to launch a powder that’s more expensive than Guerlain les Voilettes ($56) and costs the same as the cult Guerlain Meteorites… If I have 60 bucks to spend in a face powder, guess what I’ll choose.

I got the same color mystery powder 2 years ago in the pretty in pink package.
What is exciting is the powder is replaceable. What is terrible is that you cannot buy the powder without buying the container.
Absolutely ridiculous.

You and me both hun, and Mr. Prime minister Stephen Harper didn’t even get his 13% which brings it up to a ripe (ready for this) $87.36 cents Canadian!!!! Are you kidding me MAC?!?!? It’s not even LE. it’s PERMANENT……!!!!!!! This is just the icing on the cake I’ve BEEN dabbling into much more HE brands FOR LESS!! Someone sure fell asleep at the pricing wheel! Or the PERMANENT was a typo!!

Catharina and Vogue en Violet look like my kind of colors. I may have to check them out when they hit stores. I was interested in the powders (mostly because of the packaging) but the price is a big pill to swallow lol. If they still come with the refill pan I may take the plunge. Otherwise, I could live without paying $60 for a sheer MAC powder

OH, more lipsticks to look forward too! What an exciting fall this is! Well, at least if you don’t look out and see the grey cluods and the rain we’re having 🙂

Hi! I’m curious about this new ‘Ultimate’ MAC collection. I called the MAC customer service number (or MAC.com) and they said they are not aware of any such collection coming out 🙁
I also called one of my local MAC stores and they said the same. Is this a for sure collection that’s going to launch soon? Thank you! 😉

As much as I understsmd and appreciate all the hours you put into this, I’m just done eith MAC. I feel I’ve been over it for awhile. I’m actually over many things and really just amused by it all as it continues… Repeats.. Etc.
