MAC Pret-a-Papier Collection for Summer 2010

MAC Pret a Papier Collection

MAC Pret-a-Papier Collection for Summer 2010

U.S. Launch Date:  April 22nd, 2010

International Launch Date:  May 2010

Craft Paper Couture – an inspired idea cut like a pattern and whipped up into a frisky little “funny face” frock. Then, strip it back to its essence for Summer 2010 for a Pret-a-Papier colour collection. It was a Project Runway challenge of sorts, with paper as the source, the instigator of ideas, the beginning of something simply, basically beautiful. Lipstick, LipGlass, Eye Shadow, Paint Pot, Chromografic Pencil, Studio Fix Lash, Impeccable Brow Pencil, Sheertone and Mineralize Blushes, and Nail Lacquer in a seamless spectrum of parchment-to-vellum beiges, with an occasional, clever colour spill, coral among the most au courant.”

Oh no im a sucker for bronzy copper nail polishes! And the Coral paint pot is so lovely. My bank account is crying right now cause its now knows that it is going to be out of money!

Mora Avatar

but what are they for?
i don’t see the need of these pencils, i don’t have to cover someting on my waterline, because my waterline is already flesh toned.
sorry, for that silly question, but i can’t imagine what to do with the chromagraphics.

Tabi Avatar

Flesh-toned pencils are great for the waterline when you want something light to brighten/widen the eyes but you don’t want something as stark as white or silver. It gives a very natural awakeness and freshness to your eyes.

Also, I’ve seen them used on the upper lid paired with a black liner (so black line against the lashes, then a flesh-colored line right above it) to make the black stand out more and look very sharp. This helps make a sharp but minimalistic-looking eye to pair with bright lips.

I’m sure there are other uses, too. =)

Flesh-colored pencils are certainly not for everyone (I’m a big fan of bright colors, myself, so I’ll use silver or white), but they’re awesome for those who like very natural makeup!

Sarah M Avatar

you can use them on your waterline to brighten your eyes… without the line looking too harsh, a thin line under your brows to define them and make them stand out, on the cupids bow to make your lips look fuller… and I’m sure there are many other uses. Nothing coming to mind right now though. 🙂

Kristen Avatar

Paaaaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnnttt pot!! Oh how I love thee! lmao Sorry but I have a VERY unhealthy addiction to mac paints and this is the first collection in a while that has had a new one.. unless I have missed something. o_O

Marcela Avatar

I’m so relieved that this collection didn’t catch my attention, since I will be saving to buy the MAC “To The Beach” collection, now that one is totally worth buying almost everything. =-)

Ashley Avatar

Memorabilia and Gazette Gray sound really lovely :)I like paint pots, but I’m hoping MAC comes out with some more colorful ones in green and purple tones.

kfm Avatar

Made to Order, Gazette Grey and Tissue Weight are interesting. The rest sounds like it might be tricky for me to wear, or sounds close to something I already have. I am forcing myself to stop buying peach/ coral blushes and purple eyeshadows…

Alexis Avatar

Ooooh Coral Crepe paint pot? I’m listening! Again there are only a very few items that are of interest to me so I’m not too worried. Cool looks like I will have another chance to replace my Taupe brow pencil when I run out! I really wished they would do a line of new Lustreglosses for those of us that are not fans of Lipglass!

Okay I am no longer feeling bad if I bypass Spring Forecast all together!

Dusty Avatar

I remember hearing about/seeing swatches of the Chromagraphic Pencils months ago while I was in MAC (one of the girls was showing me some of the stuff that they saw at Update). I’m excited for these! I love the idea of a flesh-toned pencil – I wonder how they would work around the lipline? Or just under the brow? Depending on how creamy the formula is, I can imagine a ton of possibilities for these (not to mention for use in the waterline – I often use pale yellow because white is just too bright).

ocelot1 Avatar

hmm, i am intersted in the blushes, but i think i may need gazette grey e/s. and MAC can you please stop making the beige cream nail polishes? its getting old! Also, PLEASE make Studio Lash Fix Mascara in WATERPROOF!!

Ryan Avatar

The picture is beautiful and I like the name. But overall I dont think I will be getting much from this collection. Maybe that coraly lipstick and blush she is waring. Its all good because I am tottaly broke after today XD

cmferrets Avatar

ohhh ohhh, new paint pot colors! and blushes and e;s!!@! cant wait !i kind like it when mac has repromotes or colors from the perm line in their collection, bc then it gives me time to save , so then i dont have to spend so much, either i have the stuff from prev collection, or can wait to get the perm item… rIGHT???!!=)

rachel Avatar

I can’t wait to see if Coral Crepe is anything like Perky.. or if it’s more opaque! Either way, I already consider it apart of my collection, woot!

ak Avatar

All of the lipsticks sound good and if Kraft is even BETTER looking than Empowered, then I’ll be buying two of the Krafts!

I want to look at Gazette Grey eye shadow as well. The Mineralize blush sounds good and the other blushes sound alright as well. But Christine what does a Chromagraphic Pencil do exactly? Also when does this collection come out internationally, particularly Britain?

VJNS Avatar

According to the dictionary, “chroma” means:
1. the purity of a color, or its freedom from white or gray.
2. intensity of distinctive hue; saturation of a color.

Verrry interesting.

liana Avatar

Gazette Grey sounds unique, I think thats all that intrests me in this collection, and maybe dressmaker dressmaker l/p, cuz i work in a dress shop lol.

Tessa Avatar

Oh jesus! This looks great.

My shopping list:
Chromagraphic pencil (maybe both)
Coral Crepe paint pot
Dressmaker, Dressmaker lipstick (definitely)
Brown bag nail polish
Made to Order lipstick (probably)
…and maybe both blushes, but I’ll wait on swatches

Ouch.

ak Avatar

If you have oily eyelids or that you find that your eye makeup keeps slipping and moving throughout the day the MAC Paint Pots are your friend because they are a very good base under your eye makeup so that it can all stay in one place all day. Paint Pots work even better than just using face powder underneath your eye makeup.

Rosanna Avatar

Did they just increase the price for paint pots?

Paint Pots are originally $20 CDN but in this collection they are $22 CDN!
The just increased the prices on the palettes on the website too! Grr…that means I might have to stock up on paint pots before this increase happens T_T

ak Avatar

The more I look at this collection’s pictures, the more I want to see it. I think I’d like to buy 2 Kraft listicks, a Made To Order lipstick, the Gazette Grey eyeshadow, and I may still yet want to at least see if the darker Chromagraphic pencil can work for me (however they work!) and I’d still like to at least try on the Archetype lipstick maybe even the Fold and Tuck lipglass, and look at the 2 blushes and the Mineralize blush too!

Marilona G. Avatar

Ohh… Okay. I know this line did not launch yet but this post made it sound like Chromagraphic Pencils are currently sold in PRO stores.
Exciting! Can’t wait to try them.
This website is great! =)

Yuliya Avatar

is the packaging button-esque like in the promo pic or regular mac like the other pictures? the wooden button thing might be cute =]

i might just get the peach shadows and the permanent paintpot

stephanie Avatar

I am excited about this line. Nothing else from MAC has my attention until then. I really like the paint pot. I hope its a flat/matte, like painterly, groundwork and bare study.

light over dark mineralize blush is pretty. My friend has it and loves it. not sure if i want to get that or the blushes

Meg Avatar

A couple of these look muddy to me but I am loving all the peach tones and Memorabelia es is definitely worth a look in person! I like the promotional pictures for these too with the paper buttons.

leslie Avatar

Chromagraphic pencils?? For the waterline? YAYYYY! Burjois(?) had one called cafe and cream. The cream looked good on medium to dark skin tones instead of stark white.

M Avatar

This is in my opinion one of the most wearable and cutesy collections mac has ever come out with. I absolute love it which is rare for me to say about mac. I want to buy so much I can’t wait for the swatches!

katt Avatar

Some of it seems kind of redundant… but there are some of these things I definitely need in my life! The coral paint pot, whichever lipstick the model is wearing, the bamboo and the gazette eyeshadows and the coral blush…

Sharon Avatar

Nothing in this collection really appeals to me. More money for others, I guess! I don’t have a lot of MAC cosmetics yet but want to expand my eyeshadow collection.

Jennifer Avatar

All the corals in a perfect world will be mine!!! I’ll have to narrow it down when swatches become available.
I also am digging the idea of a green-grey eyeshadow…Grey’s look great on me…And even though I have green eyes, natural green hues still look great on me too!

Excited!

cmferrets Avatar

ohh ohh i started jumping up and down with happyness when i saw the promo pic with speical LE packaging, but got bummed out when i saw the reg black packaging. what up with that? why would mac do a promo pic with this super pretty and original packaging and then opt out to use their basic black? i hope they change their minds bc thats just confusing and bad publicity.

Diana Avatar

yay for corals!!! i’ve been looking for a nice coral blush but they always have too much pink…i cant wait. i kinda wanted the paper packaging though =(
its something different lol

Vivi Avatar

I was kind of hoping the packaging would look like the promo picture… y’know, recycling and all that. But its all very pretty- maybe a little too neutral, though.

Chester Avatar

I’m exited about the Coral Crepe paint pot, I already have Groundwork. I don’t know yet if I want anything else, maybe the reddish lipstick. Have to see swatches of the eyeshadows before I decide. They are pretty close to the ones I already have.

Paige Avatar

DARRRN IT I JUST WENT BROKE OF GIVE ME LIBERTY OF LONDON NOW THIS IM INTO CORALS NOW ;( SO I GOTTOA GET SOME THINGS FROM HERE BUT, IM GOING TO BUY SMART AND NOT GET THE WHOLE COLLECTION LIKE I DID WITH LIBERTY OF LONDON 🙂

Ashley Avatar

I’m probably just going to get the lip products. Christine, for limited edition MAC products, when it’s sold out for let’s say a couple of days after the collection came out, does that mean they won’t restock on it?

omo Avatar

Sometimes they restock when it sells out and MOST TIMES they do not but just have to keep checking everyday to see if it got restocked. No one can really tell except MAC themselves on how it goes with restocking what when it sells out

knownever Avatar

I’m so into this collection. I hadn’t noticed it until now but in the promo photos the packaging of the collection is covered with paper and maybe that is what is drawing my eye so much. It’s the idea of the subtle colors paired with the washed out paper background that really makes the promos so eye catching. i wish the actual packages were similarly decorated!

Lisa Lee Avatar

Wheres the orangeIsh lipstick like the one on the first Picture??! Idont know if its bamboo or Tissue Weight that im sooo excited to see on my eyes =)) !! but i gotta say..this isnt my fav collection

shmoobs Avatar

Dressmaker, dressmaker lipsticks will almost definately be coming home to live with me! I love it when MAC bring out new lustre lipsticks 🙂 Tissue weight eyeshadow also sounds very appealing to me for some reason…

ee Avatar

im eyeing 3 eyeshadows & the mineralized blush im skeptical on the lipsticks and chromographic pencils, cant wait for your intake your the best at it!!

Sarah Avatar

I love my corals and neutrals, so this will be a nice filler until TO THE BEACH! Anywho, looking forward to swatches of the lipsticks and lipglosses from you! 🙂

Chennel Avatar

I will def. be getting the Coral Crepe Paint Pot, Dressmaker Dressmaker lipstick, and the Gaxette Grey Eyeshadow. Everything else I will wait to see of I am interested once I see it in person.

Leli Avatar

i wish the packeging was like the one in the pics with the buttons.it looks gorgious and especially the lipsticks will stand out.
that of course won’t keep me from a couple of them!!

Alabee Avatar

Hey Christine-
I love the look of the coral paintpot, but I’m a little confused as to what I could use it for! I have bare study, which I use as a base or by itself and I love it. I’m just wondering what the point of colored paint pots are if they are primarily bases? I don’t think a straight wash of coral all by itself would look so great on my NC15 skin, but it looks so gorgeous in its little glass pot. :3

Val Avatar

I wished the packaging for this collection looks like the ones in the poster but I know it’s not possible…sad….but i like some of the color though…

marlene Avatar

omg i pre oredered a few things and im excited for the concealer pencil or whatever. its nice but wondering how it will directly apply on the face. Overall i think the collection is only okay. the grey/green shadow is super pretty.. a little different

zainub Avatar

dressmaker dressmaker is such a pretty color, but i’m not too sure it will suit me? im fair – medium, pink lips but brown-ish lines on the sides.. i only wear lip products to enhance my complexion, at times im just too pale, as well as cover those brown lines.. i know it was limted but i can still get it.. do you think it would suit me?
