MAC Powder Kiss Velvet Blur Slim Stick Swatches
($27.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a new formula that released last Thursday. There are 12 shades in the range, though one (Ruby New) wasn’t available when I made my purchase. The shade range is quite short despite having 12 shades; it lives in a more warm-toned coral range, which just seemed unexpected for a brand like MAC. The new formula is supposed to have 12-hour wear without feathering, bleeding, or settling while hydrating over time. Here are swatches of 11 shades!
Shame that the range is so small! I’d have liked to see some cool tones.
All these shades look the same to me. I know most people say that about lipstick often but I’m not usually one who does. This time though, they all look the same.
Other than Wild Sumac, they look pretty much the same. Disappointing
How truly WEIRD and rather disappointing that this looks so “basic”!
That said, I am interested in Over The Taupe or Brickthrough for something non-drying but presumably longer lasting than a typical tube lipstick. Again I’m being reminded of the old 90’s Revlon Colorstay lipsticks.
Those were the two that stuck out to me as well. Seems like a nice soft semi-matte finish.
What happened here? The shades are so similar.
Really strange for MAC!!
What everyone said. Plus, if this was an opinion question, blur lipstick is my least favorite finish. No danger for me in this release.
Shame on MAC. They were always ahead of everyone with terrific lipstick colors. These look the same and are boringly warm. Unless there are more in this line to come; I’m disappointed in MAC.
Looks too dry to me. Semi- Mat is not a finish I enjoy wearing. I need a satin or cream in MAC lipsticks. Have not liked any if their matt shades I’ve tried.
Saw it on QVC last week and could tell the host was not a fan of this finish. She tried the brightest rose fuschia and changed her lips, soon as the presentation was over.
Hmmm – a lot of very similar shades, although Sweet Cinnamon looks quite promising to me.
I wonder if they look very different on the skin? I am curious about these and luckily, coral is a good shade range for me. I’m not sure they are worth the price of buying another coral lipstick though, since I already have the original Mull It Over and Revlon’s Coralberry.
I was looking at these online – they all look so similar – and so i gave up – i have so many Mac lippies but the powder kiss formula is my favorite – the liquid ones mostly
Even though the color range is a little “safe” (variations on popular colors), I think it looks quite pretty – but the price is wild! I can’t imagine paying $30 for so little product from MAC.
No sandy nudes, no browns, all shades of pink. What a bummer. This release caught my eye and these swatches tell me to look elsewhere.
If I were to speculate I would say the powder kiss range and this velvet blur iteration are inspired by and geared more towards asian markets – blurry textures and peachy/ginger tones is something you’ll see a lot of on Yes Style for example (korean, japanese brands).
I think that’s a great insight!
Wow. This is very… K-beauty, wherein it’s all different shades of bright orange-peach-pink. Is MAC planning to drop deep warmer and cooler tones for fall-winter season?
I do love how seamless it applies unlike the Power Kiss Liquid but it gives me chapped lips each time I apply it and it happens instantly!!! I’ll continue to use it for work as it’s long-lasting but once it’s over I’ll switch back to my Power Kiss Liquid one cause it’s super soft and creamy on the lips.
