I was `mad` after MAC discontinued the Prolongwear Brow Gel. I remember that it was continuously out-of-stock, but sometimes in store, and every make-up artist in store assured me it won’t be discontinued. Until it was.
I so hope that the Fibre Gel would be could, I got very excited when I received the email on Monday about the eye collection. The small brush it’s exactly what I like, let’s see how `fibrous` is the formula; unfortunately with brow products it’s hard to try in store, as testers usually dry out fast. I liked all MAC brow products I purchased… but those testers are always dry as rock, while `fresh` product is smooth and easy to apply.

I do like that the eyeshadow collection expended, after many shades were discontinued, but moreover I like that they are all available as eyeshadow pan refills for my custom palette. I also like that they made many shades released previously as limited edition.

I agree about the fiber gel. I want to know how fibrous it is! Might have to find a Mac counter. I never found a good replacement for gimme brow after they changed the formula.

I had a Mac employee tell me months ago they were reformulating some old shades and not to buy some right now, I’m so glad I waited and I’m really excited for this. This has been a long time coming for Mac and I hope they dont let us down! Fix Carbon lol!!!

In stores 5/3? That’s odd; I’ve seen these on the shelves in my country’s biggest Mac retailer already and that was almost a week ago – and we REALLY don’t get releases early in Finland, unless it’s literally a local brand. I swatched “What’s the Wifi?” and was very confused when I couldn’t find a review nor any sort of acknowledgement for the shade’s existence in here :’D Which seems to disqualify the possibility of it being a reformulated shade? Odd.
I’ve been so desperate for a good neon green but don’t want to take any risks quality-wise, especially with Mac’s pricing. The swatch of that neon lasted me for hours despite rubbing against my sleeve so it seems promising…

Aurora Avatar

That’s interesting. The most logical explanation to me judging from this is that the retailer here released it early for their semi-annual (I think they do it a couple times a year..?) beauty week/promotion thing. Since it’s such a big set of beauty related offers, from basic sales to exclusive product launch events available to book for customers, it’d make sense for Mac to join in and slide these on the shelves while the store already has an uptick on the customers looking for beauty products.
It’s just such a bizarre, funny thing for me to experience considering our usual release dates – we’re lucky if the Finnish release date is only a month from the US one! 😀

None of these shadows is “veluxe pearl” which is probably my favourite MAC shadow finish. I wonder if that finish is being phased out or incorporated into the “frost” description.

Re the reformulation of the shadows that Laura L mentioned, I think a few of the much beloved Matte2 shadows – specifically Blanc Type and Typographic – have already been reformulated/re-released and my understanding is that it’s not a happy reformulation (just going by what I’ve read – I have the originals of both of those 2 lovely shadows).

I swatched the collection yesterday and…the mattes are plush and blendable!
The “chalk” of Cozy Grey is in its muted paleness, but it goes on smoothly and well. I went home with Power to the Purple, but there will be a few others soon…the range for this launch is really nice in both repromotes and new shades.

Delia Avatar

I swatched Emerald Cut and Joie De Glitz in the store and they were awesome, I can’t wait to buy them. I bought Mo Money, Mo Problems and Greystone and they’re better than other Mac matte eyeshadows I already have. I can’t wait to see your swatches and review.

Cherise Avatar

I ordered ‘What’s the WiFi?’, ‘Natural Wilderness’. ‘Greystone’, and ‘Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems’, and just got them yesterday. I tried them when I got home and the swatches almost gave me heart palpitations. Talk about color payoff! I used it over my cheap Makeup Revolution concealer. I’m going to buy more. I hope they update all of the shadows with this new formula and add some more colors. To me, this puts MAC back in the game in terms of their eye shadow quality.
