MAC Stylishly Yours: Pigments Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Pigments: Follow Your Fancy, Madly Personal, New Fixation, Violet
MAC Stylishly Yours: Pigments
There are four shades of MAC Pigments ($19.50 for 0.15 oz.), three are new and limited edition: Follow Your Fancy (bright coral with small pearl particle), Madly Personal (bright pink), and New Fixation (bright fuchsia red with soft pearl); along with one repromote: Violet (vivid bright violet purple), which is permanent. I’m still working on figuring out what (if any) safety information accompanies these, as none of my pigments had safety inserts inside their boxes.
I must have been under a rock for the past year, but MAC now prints safety information on the back of the pigment box itself. There were no safety warnings for Follow Your Fancy or New Fixation. Madly Personal had a warning that it is not for use in the lip area. Go figure – the pink isn’t safe on lips!?!
- Follow Your Fancy is a rusted orange with subtle redness and a frosted sheen. Nicely pigmented, and it’s actually really fun to see, because I can’t remember such a rusty color in pigment form coming out. This is new and limited edition.
- Madly Personal is a medium-dark fuchsia pink with a pearly sheen. It is less cool-toned than Brash & Bold, but the two are close. It’s a darker, less frosty version of Fuchsia, too. This is new and limited edition.
- New Fixation is a medium-dark pinky-red with pearly sheen. I don’t own it, but it may be similar to Basic Red, except the finish is different and this seems like a less true red. This is new and limited edition.
- Violet is a shimmering violet purple with a frosted sheen. This is permanent.
All four of the pigments were really smooth and pigmented. I also loved that MAC used more of a pearly sheen as a finish than a full-on frost finish – it adds more variety to the pigment range (even though these are limited, except Violet).
MAC Stylishly Yours Collection is a limited edition launch (official information and photos here) that is set to launch in-stores on December 26th in North America, January 2011 for international MAC locations. The approximate launch date for online is December 24th.

Madly Personal looks like it has some purple tones to it when swatched (like a purple sheen) … does it really have that or am I just seeing things? lol
Omg thank you for this 😀 it was my birthday yesterday and I got a $50 MAC gift card so im saving it for Stylishly Yours 🙂
i love pigments, but these colours are just too bright for everyday use.. (my taste)..
for a special occasion they might be perfect, but i don’t want to spend a lot of money for something i’ll barely use!!
do you know which pigment (or product) the model is wearing on the eyes in the promo pic?
So pretty! I dont really like pigments , but these are right up my alley. Too bad I told myself I wouldnt buy makeup until next year
I’m a little disappointed in the new piggies. I was hoping to see unique and crazy super bright pigments but only Madly Personal is what I’d hoped for. New Fixation is gorgeous but a little too close to Brash&Bold to get another full size. I thought Follow Your Fancy is more coral than orange and it looks a bit sheer to me.
Sorry, I mixed the names! MP’s the one too close to B&B, New Fixation seems to be the unique one.
Oh God… I love Madly Personal SO much!!!
Can You believe it that this collection will not be sold in my country??? :/
Gonna be depressed…Love such colors…
I really like follow your fancy and
Not really feeling this set. Violet is the only one that I can see myself wearing, but it doesn’t seem all that unique.
How would New Fixation compare to Bold & Brash?
Gah! You answered that already! Sorry about that!!
those are much too bright for me!
I feel like Follow Your Fancy is a lot like Off The Radar – or is it more reddish than OTR?
I would say this is darker, more red – Off the Radar is more like an orange/copper in comparison!
Thanks for the review Christine! Any chance you might be doing a look with any of the new ones? I love them, but I don’t know how I’d wear them and I trust what you’d pair them with 🙂
Not sure – I will try but with the holidays coming up, couldn’t tell you when!
I love the lively colors.
Madly personal is beautiful! I own Violet already.
Violet shouldn’t be used on the lips as far as I know
Follow Your Fancy is very pretty, but I don’t know how often I’d use it. I already have Violet, which is gorgeous.
These colors are pretty but the one I love the most is Violet! I only own one pigment and I have been looking for a purple like this!
are these meant to be eyeshadows only? Not sure what to do with these.
They are multi-purpose, so they can be used however you want unless they say not to use it in a certain place – but generally speaking, eyes, lips, cheeks, hair, nails.
IMO, New Fixation looks nothing like Basic Red (I own it), and definitely for the reasons you listed. Basic Red is very chalky and matte, a very true red. From looking at your pictures, it reminds me of a redder Bright Fuchsia. I can’t wait to check them out in person 🙂
Do you think Follow Your Fancy is similar to Electric Coral?
I don’t have that one, sorry – from what I can tell, it’s darker and more orange, not so much a coral.
I just feel like, for $20, you could get the same thing from any number of mineral makeup companies in a larger quantity – non of these colors are really that unique :/
Madly Personal is eyesafe? Sign me up for two (even though I’m sure I’ll never make my way entirely through one jar, but yeah. xD)
According to the back of the box… it just said it wasn’t lip safe.
The sizes keep getting smaller and smaller. I think im done with MAC pigments
How do these compare?
Follow Your Fancy pigment compared to Electric Coral pigment
New Fixation pigment compared to Bright Fuschia pigment
Oh I just read that you don’t own electric coral. How about the latter?
I swatched all yesterday (in Italy they’re already out!). New Fixation is awesome and I bought it, Follow your fancy is very pretty, though I found too coral-ish and orangey for my NW10-15 skin.
I love the fact they’re not excessively shimmer: I’m not a big fan of Frost finish and I prefer Pearl by far.
I agree. I was wanting a more in your face color. Like ‘POP’, that is definitely PINK!
New Fixation is awesome!
Hi Christine,
thanx for the lovely swatches.
I really like the displayer look with the woman wearing pink eyeshadow and red lips. On the face chart it says she is wearing New fixation, the red colour on her eyes though…
You think this might have been a mix up? As it looks more pink.
No, many artists use products without regard to the official position on safety, lol!
I’m such a sucker when it comes to MAC pigments. These colors are beautiful. I think most of these colors would be too bright to wear on my eyes. I absolutely love Violet though. There was a few months where I wore it almost every day.
i purchased follow your fancy and am awaiting its arrival. im hoping to use it on the lips ,cheeks and, nails. maybe ill tell ya how it went.
