Prescriptives had this a couple years ago and I fell in love. It feels amazing (and wet).
Ana
I loved that Percscriptives powder as well. I wasnt a powder girl until i tried those! I cant wait to try the MAC powders!
Actually, Prescriptives released it about ten years ago. The powder was called Magic and it was incredible–for its time. Today it would be considered too shiny.
Interesting! Would definitely want to have a closer look at these magically cooling powders..Are these like the venemous villains magically cooling powder?
They’re the same 🙂
will this give off a cast when you place it on your skin in pictures
It shouldn’t, since it doesn’t have SPF!
mac are really loving the word ‘melange’ lately.
I was thinking the exact same thing haha!
So glad I didn’t rush out & get them when I missed out during VV!
very happy that they brought them back and made them permanent!
They sold out so fast!!
They are wonderful powders and I will def buy again,
Yay! I only got one during VV and was starting to worry about running out. 🙂
I got it in the VV collection, but didn’t really use it.
How do you use it ? 🙂
Fantastic – I don’t have to use my Truth & Light so sparingly anymore!
My thoughts exactly! I was worried it was going to dry out because of me being stingy but if it’s permanent, it’s going back in my train case 😀
oh really interesting! but only 3 shades? :S
I’m an NC50 girl and I really want to like this product. Unfortunatly when I take pictures with this it looks like I applied flour on the parts of my face where I applied it 🙁
Ok, well now I know not to get it!
definitely giving one of these a go missed out last time but now they are here to stay woo
GREAT!!!
So looking forward to getting this in Cajun! I didn’t get it with VV as I’d spent enough money on that collection when it came out.
I am sorry Christine but I don’t understand what this is suppose to do. Is this a powder foundation??
More like a highlighter
I think I understand. It is so set foundations….right??
The description of these makes them sound like they have some type of shimmer. So are they suitable for using as an all over face powder? I can’t recall if these were reviewed here but if anyone has used them, please let me know 🙂 Thanks!
It does have a tad bit of shimmer to it. But it’s very subtle, I’d equate it to the “pregnancy glow” kinda look. Make your imperfections softer and gives you the dewy, fresh finish. I also notice that the sheen doesn’t transfer to your hand if you touch your face while wearing it.
Thanks for the response, Lizzi!
The sheen is only noticable to me when I do a heavy swatch on my hand. I’m around NC20 & I use Cajun as a bronzer on the high points of my face. I have large pores and it surprisingly doesn’t draw attention to that like other luminous products can.
oh You should definitevly give them a try, I love them so much I got a backup from the VV collection! aplied on bare skin evens out the skin tone, over foundation sets it nicely. It does have shimmer but it is very subtle,a lot less apparent than MSFs Best used with a matte foundation.
Very very nice product =)
I’ve never tried these type of powders before. I am psyched about trying them now.
They have Truth and light from the Venemous villians collection at the CCO right now and its only $19. I have Cajun and I think I have used it twice, it no longer feels cool on the skin when I apply it so I think that feature is only temporary cause it didnt last with mine.
I bought a back up in truth and light in the VV collection . I love it so much !
YES!! YES!! I am so happy to be seeing this. I am going to stock up. I love this product. I got it when they were doing the Disney Villians collection. Awesome awesome product. Such a cool sensation. 😀
I actually have been waiting for this release to try Truth and Light. No offense to Disney, but I have never seen The Princess and the Frog and don’t really know who Dr. Facilier (I probably spelled that wrong) is (so I don’t need his face plastered on my powder for more $$)
I’m so glad they’re coming out with these again ^^ I was kicking myself for not getting Truth and Light when I had the chance, but now I can get it without the ugly Dr. Facilier on the package lol
I loved the idea of these for a highlighting powder, would they work well for an overall face powder as well?
I have the one in Cajun–I adore it. These products *are* a little gimmicky, but they make you look good. Mission accomplished.
What is the purpose of this? When would you wear this?
its a setting powder?
These are like the revolon and almay wet foundation powders.
I love my VV Truth & light so much I even got a backup for it. Im sooo glad the made those powders permanent! =)
I purchased Truth and Light, the lightest shade, during the Venemous Villains launch and after using the powder for about 2 months, it started to lose its “cooling” sensation and was just another powder that was basically tanslucent and did nothing to set my foundation. I think this is just a gimmicky product that is not worth the money.
wee! i can’t wait to get truth & light this time around!!!
Pass……….
Yay! I bought Truth and Light back when VV came out and really like it. I can almost wear it as foundation, but instead I prefer it as a top-coat to give me a dewy glow now and then. I just wish I had more use for it.
I’ll have to see swatches, but I might fall for these… I love the MAC loose powder in Silver Dusk (I think that’s the name) and these look like they might be similar 🙂
i think i might need this
Yay! I bought both of the Venomous Villains versions and I love this product. I’ve just been using them not as much as I’d like to because I don’t want to run out. Like others are saying, it does lose the cooling effect after a few months. So this is defiantly not a product to stock up on. Only buy when one runs out. I’m currently a NC30 and both shades work for me. However, in the winter I’m a NC15-20 and then Cajun would only work as a subtle bronzer. My dark skinned Asian friend tried my Truth and Light, looked horribly ashy on her. So you do have to match this product to your skin for the best look. I recommend trying them out at your MAC counter before you buy. Love this product! Can’t wait to try the new shade!!
If it really lives up to the promises in that publicity blurb, then I will definitely want to try this. Heck, if it’s got the cooling properties described, I want a VAT of the stuff so I can jump in, body and all!
Already got these with the VV collection. I actually like that Dr. Facilier is on the lid (it’s kinda cute) and the boxes were cool. The new Honey Rose shade sounds pretty, though.
I love the promo picture for this.
Were they using the V V launch as a test for these? Or did they sell so well that they decided to relaunch them?
I can’t wait to see the swatches and have a feel of them for myself!!!
I wish there was a translucent one too *wishes haard*
I got this from VV, too. And people need to stop hatin’ on Dr. F! He’s awesome! ^_^
I need this Honey Rose you speak of….
This powder stands for its name. It is truly magical.
I love this stuff.
A little off topic, but these canadian vs. us prices really piss me off, especially now that the cad is stronger than the usd. Canadians would be getting a HUGE discount if we were purchasing in the states. MAC was FOUNDED in Canada too.
It’s very frustrating. I purchase MAC through other online retailers or go down south to the US stores/CCO as often as I can because of it :/
I think everyone just got very, very excited.
Yaaay, they’re bringing it back! I didn’t get a chance to check it out when it had Facilier’s face on it lol. Now here’s to hoping they repromote his Greasepaint sticks, too…
Sounds awesome! Will you be doing reviews on these? 🙂
REALLY looking forward to trying this. I didn’t grab it the first time around during Venomous Villains, but I’m definitely going to look into it this time…mainly because of my curiosity to know what it feels like on the face. =]
i bought it from venomous villains and when i tried at the first time i could feel wet awsome, but now no more it´s just powder 🙁
Im interested in these but what are its purpose? They look kinda like bronzers to me?
They’re just supposed to give you a light highlight/ bronzing dusting while giving you that cooling feeling on the skin. It’s like a specialty item for the hot weather, so to speak. They’re definitely not setting powders though.
Thanks! But would they be able to be used over powder foundation? I only wear powder foundation so would these be sort of unnecessary for powder foundation users?
This looks interesting. Must look into it!
MAC is coping Prescriptive Cosmetics Magic Powder. I love MAC Cosmetics, and I am a former MAC Employee but they are starting to imitate other cosmetic line and their products. Even though Prescriptives went out of business and they both are under the Estee Lauder brand, MAC is suppose to be trend setters and originators. I’m not impressed AT ALL! Copy Cats
Christine,
Do these have parabens?
Thanks!
looks like you are getting a wearable sheen like the sirens in the movie TRON. So modern!
I used to work for MAC…when perscriptives went out of business MAC and Clinique bought alot of teir exact formulas. This is the exact same product. Clinique bought super line preventer and is selling it as even better.
Why are the lipsticks $29.50 for this collection? What is so special about them? Also, Christine can you tell us when the Blogger’s Collection will be coming out? I’m guessing for June or July? Any reason why no lipsticks or blush are coming with the collection? Can’t wait! I’m sure you have some really great colors & names.
These aren’t lipsticks – these are face powders! 🙂
I cannot say anything, as I’m under embargo.
Are these used as finishing powders?
i bought one and it feels so neat when you put it on. However, in pictures my face appeared super glittery/shiny/wet. Kind of annoying.
