It is!
I’ve seen the whole collection and its all pretty awesome but they brush sets are my favourite this year for sure, the mineralize set is awesome!

I have an Illegal Cargo LE e/s from the Naughty Nauticals collection & it’s so not a frosted black.

I hope it’s a typo on their publicist’s part ’cause I’d hate to have the same name for very different e/s colors in the same brand.

You know, I have been dreading the Mac holiday collections being posted. So much stuff that I want. We still haven’t had Posh Paradise, the new sheen supremes or Fall Colour hit the UK yet (next Tuesday online though :D)

Will have to wait for your reviews and swatches first Christine. I don’t buy anything from Mac now without first popping on here, reading the info and going over the pictures + swatches 10 times.

This collection and the Glitter & Ice collection…not sure if I’m feeling the white packaging. Especially with the palettes. I mean the lipsticks look nice but the palettes just look…ugly :/

Where do you find out when the new collections will be available on the website? I check every day just in case, would be useful if I knew beforehand!! Thanks

New collections are usually released the first Tuesday of the month on the website. Fall Colour/Sheen Supremes/Posh Paradise should all hit the site late Tuesday afternoon!!! It’s usually the Thursday after it hits counters and stuff 🙂

They’re not so crappy as you say. I usually buy all of my brushes in SE packs because:

1) They’re the same brush, just shorter.
2) For the price of one brush I get up to five brushes and a makeup bag.
3) They’re great to travel with.

I’ve always used them and they’re fabulous in my opinion, I’ve never had any issues with them at all, and I really am digging the 226SE in one of the packs ^^

Hey Lilly,

They’re actually not the same brush – because they’re machine made vs. hand made. Have you used the full-sized brushes before? I’m glad you enjoy your SE brushes — I’ve used both extensively and have found there is a significant difference in quality (which has been emphasized more so over time; e.g. brush sets from 5 years ago were better than ones from 2 years ago).

The same brush will be indicated by “SH” to represent “Short Handled” while “SE” refers to “Special Edition.” The eye brushes tend to be better than the face brushes for SE brush sets, though I have found some issues across the board. I really just wanted to say they are actually not the same brush because of the manufacturing process used.

I completely agree, the quality is definitely NOT the same and your answer was so thorough as to the differences. Thanks for clarifying for those who do not realize that the holiday brushes are NOT the same as the full size.

i would love the face kits if the eyeshadows weren’t in a palette. i hate those little mac palettes, it’s convenient to some, but i love mine in the individual little pots 🙁

SQUEE!!!! OMG!! And I thought the packaging for Tartan Tale was incredible, this is miles beyond that (for my tastes, I can see where it wouldn’t be for everyone)!!! There goes all the money from my new job! Oh well! 🙂

the warm and sultry es palette descriptions got me wanting them since there are some es in them that i have been eyeing for a while now. can’t wait to see what your review is on them. 🙂

I’m loving the palette in the lead photo and the peach face kit. But clear bags? A bit of a let down considering the wonderfully made bags from A Tartan Tale last year.

Promo shots are AMAZING! Bags are cute! I LOOOOVE a white lipstick bullet 🙂 LOVE LOVE 🙂 The colors for the holiday collection are never something I jump around for but I’ll pick up a few things for the packaging and the bags.

The brushes are SO pretty, it’s always a shame they aren’t as up to snuff as their perm brushes (because these are SO CUTE!) lol!

I want the whole collection. Everything I mean everything. Christine thanks for the heads up because I will begin saving now!!!! My official MAC Ice Parade Collection for Holliday 2011 fund starts tomorrow payday. Anyone wants to contribute just let me know. LOL I am really excited. MAC has not excited me at all this year except for the 226 brush.

I love the simplicity! Since it’s such a huge contrast from their normal 100% black, I think it totally stands out and is unique! Plus, I personally like simple better. It’s way classier than a bunch of tacky patterns plastered all over the packaging!

I do hope one day though they will do something along the lines of a white bullet with black damask print on it though! *swooooooon*

But…but…last year’s holiday collection just happened, it feels like… (this is almost exactly the same feeling I had when Surf, Baby came out, and I always confused it with To the Beach)

Oh dear…well..the silvery packaging..eh..well..I’ll be able to FIND it….but oh…the colors…so many I want (do I NEED? NO) BUT…I’m just a make-up W***E! 😉 Of course, I’ll wait for Christine’s “review” on what to get and what not to get…..No liners…I was kind hoping for some “slick” or “fluidline” maybe even a pencil kohl collection…I think I like the colors better than the Tartan ones last year..I’ve hardly touched mine..BUT my grimy prints are all OVER JEALOUSY WAKES! ;P

Drool! Can’t wait for your swatches. I am so glad for your reviews, Christine, you really help me make informed choices. I may not always agree with everything I read here, but that’s why there is chocolate and vanilla, right? But I truly can’t wait to read your ratings on this collection, especially the lip bags.

I have been waiting impatiently for MAC to come out with 2 brushes:

1) a large full-face sized 131 brush (otherwise, I’m going the Hakuhodo next year).

2) the paddle-shaped e/s stipping brush above — the new 282SE. I have one from the now-defunct Aromaleigh in silk, but the quality is poor, & all the ones on the market, including the full-faced 131-type brush (with the exception of Hakuhodo)are synthetic, not silk. I won’t/can’t buy a $50 brush set for 1 small brush, but I assume (keeping my fingers crossed) that they will be bringing this out in a full-size version in the near future. Can’t wait! It’s a terrific brush for applying a dusting of another shade over your base shadow.

I’ve been thinking about getting some new brushes so I think I will be picking up all three brush sets, hopefully I can get to them fast enough before they are sold out. I might pick up the Warm kit as well but that depends.

all these holiday collections are gonna make my wallet cry. I think the packaging is unusual but could be cool! I want the Warm Fabulously Festive Face Kit, the mineralize brush kit, the special edition brush kit, and the warm eyeshadow palette 😀

Hmm, the warm eyeshadow palette and face kit look interesting but I have a bad feeling that face kit will be pricey! It’s times like this a student budget just doesn’t cut it lol. Plus I dunno about the special edition brushes, I’ve heard not so great things about them in the past.

This looks like a collection to definitely check out! I can’t wait to see it all in person. I want a couple of those brush kits, but a part of me is a bit skeptical of them too – I have heard in the past that the smaller brushes are poor quality compared to the large ones. The inclusion of a 226 brush makes it desirable for me. The 167 looks different too, is that a new brush?

was i the only 1not impressed with the packaging? what’s with the circles?I sure hopeople in person they are real glittery or something…..

I would be all over this collection, if it wasn’t for the horrible packaging. I really don’t like it. My favorite packaging MAC collections have had so far is the Baroque/Victorian packaging a few years back for the holidays. I would really love to buy the brushes, if it wasn’t the the bad quality and the tacky handles. The only thing I find myself interested in is the face sets and beauty powders. =/

I don’t usually go and grab any of the holiday kits because shortly after the holidays, I usually see them at the Estee Lauder outlet but I’m really eyeballing the brush kit with the 187SE, 130 SE, 286SE, 282SE. One can never have enough of the dual brushes, especially MAC (even if they’re limited-edition quality)!

These are already available for pre-sale at Nordstrom (Santa Anaita, CA). I had the luxury of swatching/trying a couple of things.

The eyeshadow palettes are quite tiny (they feel smaller than the 6-shadow palettes MAC used to release during holiday collections). Colors are okay (some are great, others dry/chalky/gritty). They are $38/each. I pre-ordered two of them.

I also pre-ordered the dual-fiber brush set ($49.50). The fibers are quite soft for machine-made brushes. I can’t wait to use the dual-fiber eye brushes! All the brush sets are $49.50/each. The white (goat fiber) brush set is also quite nice.

The face kits are $59/each–great value! I did not pre-order any today–I might change my mind later ;p

I went by my MAC counter in Belk (i live in South Carolina) today and they are preselling pieces of this collection. The MUA stated that this collection is set for release on Oct. 27th

I was at MAC today and the lady took me and a friend into the back to see all the winter collections- after seeing them on Temptalia, I just about died seeing them in real life. You see those shimmery circles on the eyeshadow palettes? They’re snow globes. Flippin’ snow globes. I didn’t get a super close look at everything, but I saw that the Fabulously Festive Face Kits and $59.50- so that’s a thing.

When I went to MAC yesterday they had the holiday collection on display and was even doing a pre sale, however I wanted ” Mocha ” lipstick and they said that it wasn’t in the holiday collection. Correct me if I’m wrong but is it not listed above in the collection?

you CAN use your pro discount card when i called yesterday they told me no but i got an email today about the collection and it says pro discount is available and i was able to purchase the holiday collection using my pro discount

ok i was able to purchase beauty powders eye kohls and paint pots with pro discount the only thing you can’t use it on are the kits (brush kits, makeup kits etc) and the eye shadow palettes

Just checked out the catalogue at local MAC counter here in Canada. The Lip bags will be $45 CAD and the Lip and nail polish were $43. Can pre purchase, collection is out Oct. 27th here in Canada as well. Can’t wait!

There are two beauty powders not listed on here. I just preordered one in Hello Beautiful! ad the lipsticks aren’t shown either. I preordered the beauty powder and a lipstick. Can’t wait to get it!!!! 🙂

i have never tried the holiday collection brushes and have always wondered if they were actually as bad a people say…
but on the other hand the colours in this collection are gorgeous, but the eyeshadow duos really annoy me, kind of pointless, packaging looks a bit tacky, not as good as last years bags

Hi Christine I was wondering if you will review and swatch the Festive Frost face kit that it’s exclusive in Nordstrom, looks like it’s not part from the original collection

thanks

I got the lipgloss set (pink) and it is definately worth it. The tubes are a little shorter than the normal sizes but also a little fatter so you are getting around the same amount and you get 4. Great deal! I also picked up the sultry eye set and I love it. My coworkers saw it and now they are all going to MAC at lunch to get one. I may go too and get something else.
