MAC Hypnotizing Holiday Collection is split between a colour collection, which includes single products, along with a gifting collection, where you’ll find various palettes and sets. I purchased all of the colour collection but only the two highlighter palettes from gifting at the moment, since I am not as confident about getting those reviewed quickly yet. Here are swatches!

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I have never really been one to hate a product for the packaging, but I cannot add any of this to my collection for that singular reason. I just can’t get past it. 😂

Just curious. What don’t you like about the packaging? The surface treatment of the stand-alone HLs and the tops of the glosses (pinwheel-y) remind me of the oldie representation of hypnotism…like for Hitchcock’s Vertigo. I get why people who love symmetry and hate seemingly random placement (like the ABH Carli Byble) could really be uncomfortable with this.

The Carli Bybel palette was hell for anyone with trypophobia. I couldn’t even walk by the ABH section in the stores when it was being sold.

Oh I will absoLUTEly hate a product for the packaging, and totally agree, this looks awful. The red/black/white looks like a cheap toy, the white overprint on red plastic looks unpleasantly translucent, the art edges don’t match up at the seams, and that color combo really really fights with the colors of the products themselves. Bleh. Would’ve looked SO much better in like a deep plum with mauve and bronze swirls, or literally any other colorway. Would probably still buy Prrrrplexing (why isn’t that the name of the prrrrrple color tho?) and depot it if MAC shadows didn’t irritate my eyes.

I don’t know, I’m really loving this packaging. It feels very mod. Not exactly Christmas, but still eye catching.

I would never use Fortune Teller/Blizzard Wizard, but that compact just looks so great that I find myself wanting it anyway.

Not bad. I don’t recognize the ‘PowerPoint’ name for the liner formula. What did I miss? This holiday, the new seems fairly/actually new and the oldies sets, reds, nudes seem to be classics. And plenty of people will want/need the retread of a large mini lipstick set. I don’t miss the fluffy, glittery, snow globe-y OTT designs. I guess this is supposed to invoke peppermint sticks?

Powerpoint liners have been around for years. MAC seemed to be eliminating them (there are only two colours available in the permanent line now, a grey and a brown) until this holiday release. Maybe they’ll make a comeback next year, depending on how the holiday ones sell? And I agree, I see a peppermint stick motif in the twirly tops, too. It’s a bit brash for me, but at least it’s different.

No surprise – I’m loving some of those singles – Ho Ho Hocus, Prrrrplexing, Behind the Curtain and – surprising, because it’s kind of pinky/red – Calling Your Bluff. I’m not a fan of singles that are a challenge to depot, though, so maybe keep my fingers crossed that I have dupes.

This collection looks quite reasonable, even though most are not my kind of colours or shades. A couple of the singles are pretty – particularly the green shades, but they might be too glittery for me. I like that the brand has bought out both lipsticks and lip glosses, but these are ultimately too pink for me.
The highlighters look good – and I love the swirly ones – especially Fortune Teller.
The packaging does look – shall we say interesting?

This caught my eye immediately for the packaging and pan designs. It feels very “let’s throw some ideas to the wall and see what sticks” and you know what? It works. Well, for me anwyay. I stay pretty up on beauty news and so most of it is a snorefest out there. My only bummer is none of the lipstick shades are calling my name, same for the highlighters, and I’ve never purchased a single MAC shadow so I don’t have much experience with their quality…

I look at these and my brain sees lollipops and hears The Chordettes going “lolli lolli lollipop” lalalala!
I like Wild Card and Magic Charmer and I could love Berry Tricky were it not for the pearls. Those highlighters/ bronzers would make amazing eyeshadows!

Helene Avatar

First, I don’t mind the packaging. 🙂
I like some of the lipsticks, well, all of them actually. I also like the glosses, Works Like a Charm most of all.
I’m not sure about the liners but like the eyeshadows a lot.
Highlighter palettes are always tricky, I think. I love Lights on Lavender but wouldn’t use the other two, so no to the highlighters.
I look forward to the reviews, as I always do.

Thanks for all the swatches, Christine! I have been curious about the eyeshadows.

Do you plan on purchasing and swatching the 25 pan Size of the Prize Eyeshadow Palette? I have seen it online but haven’t seen it reviewed anywhere yet.
