Thanks for sharing, it’s really beautiful ! A gorgeous collection really. I’ll purchase 4 lipsticks and possibly 2 eyeshadows. The shades are intense and soft at the same time, a perfect Holiday collection. I do love Glitter and Ice ( I still have my 6 lipsticks and my snowglobe, I broke the beauty powder ), Glamour Daze is totally different but very pretty too. I prefer the Glitter and Ice lipsticks but nevertheless I’ll take Beauty, Outrageously Fun, Glamour Daze and Dramatic Encounter they all look fabulous.

I’m going to save up for this. That way, if the products are disappointing…I can still get kohl powers. I’d consider Whisper of Gilt, because I have Superb and it’s a bit dark on me–seen from an angle, it’s darker than my skin tone, but I love the shimmer in it.

Stephanie Avatar

So I missed out on Whisper of Guilt last time around… and now I’m not going to be able to help myself. *sigh* Well, hopefully since it was just out not too long ago, it won’t sell out too quickly. I’ll be keeping an eye on the website next week for sure.

Which MSF would be better for my nw45 skin? I wanted both.. But I’ll just get one. Btw I soooo miss when you would say what best fits each skintone with the different collections

It doesn’t look Christmasy at all to me! That said, I do love a lot of it, and have a piece of paper next to me now writing down the names of the colours I want. LOVE the theme, too, adorable! … but I really wish they’d go a bit more holiday-themed.
Great post x

SO GLAD I KNOW WHEN THIS LAUNCHES ONLINE! I have been stalking the website at weee hours in the morning! I will be getting WOG and all lipglasses besides DD

Savannah Avatar

I’m only really interested in the eyeshadows. If they’re all really good quality (I always seemed to miss out on these past collections) I’ll probably pick up 3, the light nude, the black and the burgundy.

Does anyone else remember Polar Opposite eyeshadow from a couple years ago? Would anyone else think that the silver side of Polar Opposite is similar to Evening Grey in this collection? I have been trying to find a dupe ever since that collection. Thank you ahead of time for anyone’s opinion!

Laura Avatar

I’m interested in:

Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Stolen Moment
Fluidline in Catch My Eye and Little Black Bow
Lipstick in Glamourdaze and Dramatic Encounter
Lipglass in Flight of Fancy
Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Raven, Orpheus and Mystery

🙂

Some of the shadows look quite familiar… (just renamed). I passed on them last time, as they just weren’t quite dark enough for my liking. The Paint Pots may be on my list, though!

Maria Avatar

I want all of the lip products and definitely Whisper of Guilt! I don’t know about the eyeshadows though.. I am very excited about this collection!

Lisa Avatar

OMG….I think this is the second collection I’ve seen False Lashes. Nothing new, I purchased it last Fall. Besides that, there are a few things I like but will likely save my money.

holly Avatar

Chanel did it, in different colors, at their Haute Couture Fall 2012 show over the summer. I saw a blog tutorial for it somewhere… I’m sure a quick google search would show some ideas for the manicure.

I already got to see and purchase items for this collection last night at a launch party! I defiantly deem it one of mac’s best launches this year, and I missed buying the MSF’s and most of the ED eyeshadows last year. Not to disappoint everyone but the eyeshadow sizes for this launch as basically the same price but much smaller, which was a major let down for me. The eyeshadows are beautiful especially Stylish Mary and A Natural Flirt but were already sold out when I arrived, wow! I am going to pre order them at another counter along with MSF’s! I was able to get ready to party and all the fluid lines which are gorgeous and the lipstick beauty I love my light pinks, I know those are going to sell out quick too! lipsticks are pretty too there are already a lot of swatches of them online and of the blushes, but I know christine will have them most accurate!

Emilia Avatar

much more exciting if you didn’t buy the MSF and ED eyeshadows before, i think because the MSF are repromotes but the fluid lines are beautiful and I tried them as eyeshadow bases this morning and they work great! I am glad I only bough one lipstick from the Marilyn collection, it was worth it!

Torrie Avatar

I have been stalking eBay and dealing with the rudest people about getting these skin finishes. I’m so happy I an finally get them brand new (without the worry of someone putting their fingers in it already) and get them for cheaper than the crazy $60 per MSF they wanted. Beyond excited!

I basically love a ton of stuff!
the peach, plum and taupe shadows look awesome!
I’m liking the coral lipglass, in the photo it looks like Nars Deep Throat which I love. I’m afraid it might look milky/ settle into fine lines though.
The peach blush looks nice too, I’m looking forward to it!.
I hope the fluidlines will be opaque with so much glitter going on. The taupe one might have my interest.
I don’t care about the nail polishes, the glittery one reminds me of Butter London The Black Night though, so I’m curious.
I don’t know about the lipsticks, the coral one looks nice, but I hate frosts.

So yeah, really promising! looking forward to your swatches!

I was at the launch party on Tuesday (10/16/12) for this collection and let me say that everything is BEAUTIFUL in person! There are some MUST haves in this collection.

My picks:

Lips: Outragously fun, dramatic encounter, glamourdaze (the first two sold out at the launch party!)
Cheeks: Small vanity (reminds me of sweet as coco w/o the simmer..BEAUTIFUL and sold out at the launch!)
Eyes: stylishly merry (this sold out at the launch…this wil go FAST ladies!)
Both of the skinfinishes are beautiful, though whisper of guilt pulls more champagne while supurb leans more gold/bronze. Suprub is the more brown girl friendly of the two IMO. I managed to snag all the above items before they sold out.

Everything else is pretty, but I’m willing to wait until the website launch to get them, so I focused on my must haves that I KNEW would sell out.

Sandra JT Avatar

Definitely getting the skin finishes. That’s about it. I bought sone of the Eyeshadows the first time they were released & have gotten zero use out of them. I was also told that these Eyeshadows are minis, not full sized, and saw photos of the difference in size between the original rełeases & the ones for the holidays. They looked quite small. At nearly $20 each before tax, they’re just not worth it. But the skin finishes I’ll get a lot of use out of.

This collection is beautiful & exciting, love it! Soo my style girly & fun as well looks very Parisian which I LOVE. Downside is the all over shiny packaging :\

Wishlist:
1. Small Vanity Blush
2. Whisper of Guilt MSF
3. Perfect Plush Brush Kit Mineralize (Orange Fibre brushes)
4. Fabulousness/Warm eyes (Yellow E/S kit)

Can’t wait!!! Thanks Temptalia 🙂

Sandra JT Avatar

Check Spektra. That’s where I always find swatches before the collections are released in North America. Some of these products are also repromotes, like the MSFs for example, so you can Google and find swatches in that way too. I already preordered the ones I want based on the online swatches & reviews I’ve seen. I’ll be able to pick mine up in 4 days, according to my local MAC.

Sandra JT Avatar

Yes, you would preorder from your own local MAC store. Just give them a call, tell them you want to preorder from the Christmas collection & which products, and pay by credit card over the phone. You can then pick your products whenever you have time. You don’t have to rush there the day of the launch that way, and you’re far more likely to get the products you want before they’re sold out. I got everything I wanted no problem.

I far prefer preordering to the launch parties. The last one I went to was a crowd of hundreds of people, it was hot as snot in the store, and it was difficult to swatch products with so many people crowded around the multiple displays. If you don’t like what you preorder, you can always return the products for a refund. I’ve never had a problem doing so, even when I’ve bought MAC products in Hong Kong, for example, then decided I didn’t like a product/s and returned them in Canada or the US a couple of months later. Provided they’re obviously not half used, or smashed to pieces, it’s never been an issue for me. If you’re going to preorder from your local store, it’d probably be a good idea to do that asap as it’s very likely they’re going to sell out of a lot of the products very quickly, especially once they’re on the shelves.

Good luck 🙂

Maria Avatar

Ok that’s hands down the most exciting collection for me 😀

I hope to get Glamourdaze, Small Vanity, A Natural Flirt, Round Midnight, Stolen Moment and Superb 🙂

My poor money 😀

Amna Avatar

hi christine.. are the eyeshadows repromote from extra dimension earlier this year but just named differently or are they new shadows completely??

Sandra JT Avatar

I saw them in the store & swatches them. None of them looked to me to be the same shades as those from the last release of the ED product line. I did buy a few from the last release & didn’t see any of those particular shades there.

Tasha Avatar

Hi there!

Adore the new collection, can’t wait to get my hands on it!

I noticed the new nail trend featured on your picture, love it so much, any idea of what it’s called?

Great post!

hello!
I;m wondering how long this collection is going to stay in the mac shops? I’m going all out to shop for this collection, but i’m getting my check over a month:( thanks! xo

Sandra JT Avatar

The collections were already sold out of quite a few if the items when I went in the day of the release – October 25th – to pick up my preorder. Whisper Of Guilt was completely bought up, several of the Extra Dimension eyeshadows, several of the sets were gone, one of the blushes was sold out, etc. I was very surprised. I was lucky I was able to pick up the blush in Easy Manner as I didn’t preorder it & there were only 3 left. If you really want something from these collections, get to your local MAC ASAP.

Sandra JT Avatar

Just a heads up for those whose pores are already visible. I purchased the Whisper of Gilt and Superb MSF & am not that wowed by them. They definitely highlight any imperfections on the skin, along with everything else. I honestly like my Lise Watier illuminizer a lot more (gorgeous packaging & design as well), as well as the cheap one I got from Sleek. They’re much more finely milled & far less frosty. They’re beautiful to look at but less than stellar on the skin of those who have visible pores. Whisper of Gilt is worse than Superb in that way. I find I can buff Superb down a bit to lessen the pore magnifying effect.
