MAC Cosmetics - Strobe 2008 Color Story and Photos

“The play of pearlescent light, the feeling of euphoria, the instant illumination that brightens and enlightens three ways: strobe cream, the richest, sheerest blend of soft-focus diffusers for the face and neck; strobe liquid, instant radiance in fluid, light-diffusion form with iridescent pigment; and tinted lip conditioner stick SPF15 with strobe pearl, broad spectrum protection, colour and moisture-soft allure. Use under or over colours and textures to glow on and on and on”

STROBE LIQUID | Blending soft focus diffusers with iridescent pigments, this ultra-fluid strobe formula produces a soft, radiant light on the skin, reducing the appearance of skin imperfections by providing a natural-looking glow. Refreshing. Spreads on smoothly and absorbs quickly. Leaves the skin looking healthier and more radiant. A lighter weight addition to the popular strobe cream. Goodness, do those lip conditioners look gorgeous. Too bad I’ll probably never be able to use them. Just a guess they contain Vitamin E if they’re “conditioning.” Along those lines, does anybody know the ingredients to Strobe Liquid please? Or have a swatch of how heavily pearlescent it is on skin? Thank you!

i was reading on Specktra.net how the Strobe liquid is an extremely thin layer of coating. – which is good as a base for oily skin (here here) so makeup won’t look caked on.

what are your thoughts christine?

Ooh, I want that coral one. I’m going to get burned out on coral between this and Heatherette, but I can’t help it! I wonder about the liquid, I have combo skin and it might be better for me to use… I’ll have to visit a friendly MA soon!

I saw these today but didn’t think they were anything too special. Though, they are pretty shades and sheer as you would expect from a lip conditioner. I guess I’m a little put off by the price because I’ve been spending so much on MAC lately! Haha.

Christine Avatar

Hey Winnie! I totally understand. These are just products that okay, just in terms of whether it’s worth it to spend $14. I feel like these are basically tinted lip balms, and I’m fine with my $3 Chapstick, you know?

These are great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s an item I would pass on if my budget didn’t allow for it.

heck yes i am… blossom is mine!

hey i have a question.. do you won fix+?
cuz i wanted to buy it b-cuz of all the buzz about it..
and i went to the mac store sprayed some on and it felt nasty like all sticky and what not… soo yeah lol

Christine Avatar

Hey Tatiana! I do have Fix+, but I got it as a gift. There’s something about paying for “special water” that turns me off (regardless of brand). Anyway, I rarely use it because it doesn’t do much for me. I find it best on hot days after wearing makeup for a few hours as a spritz to refresh (but I could use ANY water spritz to do the same).

A lot of people use Fix+ to set their makeup, though. Others will spritz their foundation brush before they apply foundation, too.

If it felt yucky on you, pass on it for sure!

Christine,

I use fix+ for my brows also especially if I am creating brows with shadow and it works really good for me. I also use it to set my foundation too. I’m not sure why it felt sticky though. It normally doesn’t.
